EPISODE HUNDRED AND TWELVE
THEME: His cunning ways
MOON STONE FORTRESS
A few numbers of harmless birds perch down to eat the dry pieces of bread spread out all because of them. Lorelei rigidly stared out into space and she sighed at every passing second. She felt extremely lonely. It has been exactly two weeks since Jaylen had left the Moon Stone Fortress without any word from him.
She wanted to believe he wouldn’t leave her without talking to her for so long but to her disappointment, she had heard nothing about him. Things weren’t the same anymore. Their once lively, friendly and happy clique of friends was becoming strained with herself and Claire not in the best of mood. It has been tough to cope with it all.
Claire and Ron had become quite close. Claire had been able to get a hang of the state her family was in all because of him. She wished Jaylen would pop out all of a sudden to tell her it was all a prank. Even Lorelei misses him so much and all that she could think of was him but her ego prevented her from putting a call through to him. It didn’t help that she kept thinking of Rosalyn being the shoulder he was crying on.
Her heart ached at the thought of it. It was obviously going to take her a long while to get herself together and move on. She has not been able to concentrate on work or herself and it was weighing on her wolf so much. Letting out a deep breath, her shoulder dropped as she kept on with her observation.
“I almost thought you had moved away from the Fortress. It is fancy seeing you here.” Jayden’s voice seeped into her thoughts.
Lorelei let out a mumbled cuss. Her mind had told her to leave before now but she had been rigid towards the voice. Since Jaylen left the pack, she had been doing her very best to avoid bumping into Jayden. His visit to the infirmary had been on countless times and she had avoided him purposefully all thanks to the other members of the infirmary who stood protective of her sanity.
Jayden’s behavior towards her the last time they had seen each other had really scared her and she wants to have nothing to do with him and also considering the situation at hand.
“I was just about to leave.” Lorelei muttered as she stood up abruptly.
Jayden grabbed her arm lightly as she made an attempt to move past him. “Hey…Just wait up Lorelei. I really need to talk to you.” He said with his eyes pleading.
It was unusual of Jayden to beg anyone but he wanted to have Lorelei on his side so much. He wouldn’t mind having to kneel in front of her at this point. He was willing to do just anything he can do to ensure he gets the woman he wants back. Jaylen leaving everything behind and running off like a coward that he is, is an advantage for him to work his way back to her.
Lorelei chewed on her lips for a while. “Fine. Five minutes.” She uttered, snatching her hand from his grip before she returned to her sitting position.
Jayden sat next to her, keeping a bit of a distance to avoid making her uncomfortable. “First off Lorelei, I want to tell you how sorry I am for treating you the way I did and saying all of those horrible things to you. I am sorry.”
Lorelei hissed. “Oh really Jayden? Is this some sort of a trick? I mean…the Jayden Damien I know would never feel sorry for something he did wrong. All you ever think about is yourself and having you sitting right next to me this way, obviously means you are plotting something.”
Her accusation hurt him badly but he could tell she knows him better than anyone. Jayden had a feeling his brother might be back to his senses soon and try to win her back. So his plan was to take advantage of Lorelei’s vulnerable state to get to her. Plus the loneliness he felt was really getting to him.
“I just want to amend my ways, Lorelei.”
Lorelei watched him pitifully. She knew someone like Jayden would never admit to his wrong doing unless it had something to do with him gaining in return. She had overheard Sebastian talking to their father the other night that Jayden had been keeping company with some rouges and she couldn’t be more disappointed in him. Meagan had been sick for a while and it appears, Jayden and Jaylen himself were unconcerned about what their feud is doing to not just them but to others too.
“Why don’t you go do that with your mom and sister first? You can’t fool me, Jayden. I know how much you still hate your brother. Do you always have to be in a competition with him?” She bickered at him.
“And do you always have to bring my brother into every conversation? All Jaylen does to me is try to take everything away from me! I am the victim here.” Jayden raised his voice, causing some of the passersby to whisper at each other.
“This is the problem you have Jayden, you think it’s all about you. You know what talking to you is a waste of time.” Lorelei stood up. “And if truly you care about what’s best for you, you would make the right decision for the betterment of the Fortress.”
“And what the hell is the right decision?!” He growled.
“Go find your brother and bring him back home to where he belong!” Lorelei yelled in his face.
Jayden watched as she stomped off. He pushed the dark shades he had on closer to his face to keep anyone from taking notes of him. He stood up and strode back to his car. Jayden drove off angrily. Every time Jaylen’s name gets mentioned it angers him so much and always make him lose his cool. It was obvious getting Lorelei to be on his side would be really hard to achieve and that bothered him. Everything annoyed him and he needed to cool off really bad.
Just as Jayden cornered a street, his phone rang. The caller was his grandmother. He gritted his teeth, hoping they weren’t calling him for any irrelevant matter. Jayden packed the car as he initially had no destination in mind. He picked up the call.
‘What is it Grandma?’
‘It’s your mother. She passed out in the bathroom.’ She announced to him.
As soon as the line went dead, Jayden cussed rapidly as he reversed into the street and drove down to the pack house in a rush.
