EPISODE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN
THEME: Where is home?
MOON STONE FORTRESS
TWO WEEKS LATER
Jayden stared out the window with his back turned at the office door and he was lost deep in thoughts. It had been two weeks since Jaylen practically tossed the Alpha position at him. He was still livid at how it appeared like he was begging for the position. Things hadn’t been the same anymore at the pack house cause he feels disrespected by the pack members and coupled with the fact that some had indulged in a protest for him to step down.
It has been just two weeks since he assumed the Alpha position and it has been from one trouble to the other. Whispers and rumors have been flying around that the Moon Goddess was venting out her anger for Jayden’s disobedience at not letting his brother be the Alpha.
Jayden wakes up everyday with anger floating through him. A week after the whole saga, he had gotten himself crazily drunk and had forged ahead into the woods running wild. He was so lost that he didn’t know when he left Moon Stone Fortress territory and only to collapse in the middle of nowhere.
Lucky for him, he was saved by the Rogues that had been banned off entering into Moon Stone Fortress.
Jayden didn’t care at that point though as they were really patient with him. They had listened to his sorrowful story without interrupting him. They had let him pour his whole heart out and had shared alcohol with him. Somehow Jayden Damien felt relaxed and at home with the Rogues. It has been about some days since he last heard from them, especially the Leader of the Rogues named, Liam whom he had gotten quite friendly with.
With the way Jayden was feeling, he might eventually find himself in their midst by the end of the day to ease his mind. Deep down within Jayden, he aware that it was wrong of him to stay friends with people who were against the Fortress but he decided to play selfish and not care about what anyone thinks at all. They made him feel good most especially the female Rogues amongst the clan. To Jayden Damien, the female rogues feels more homely than the ones he had gotten used to at the Fortress. The mere thought of the excitement he would encounter made his spirit lift up a bit until his thoughts went back to Lorelei.
The last time he had set his eyes on her was two weeks ago. She was really doing a good job at avoiding him. Days when he decides to slip into the infirmary unnoticed just to see her, he would never get to lay his eyes on her. It was obvious the other workers in the infirmary were trying their very best to keep him from seeing Lorelei too.
In all truth, as pathetic as it might sound, what he wants is to find a way to cajole her into being his while explaining how awful his brother is to have abandoned her.
Jayden wanted whichever attention he could get because it felt lonely having the whole of his family not talk to him. Most especially his mother who has been mute for weeks and not saying a word to him. Even though himself and Claire weren’t exactly best of friends, he missed her banters.
Jayden heaved a sighed as he dipped his hands in his pocket and soon he sucked in a breath. He wished there was no Jaylen in his life. He hated his brother every passing moment. Everyone in the pack watched him with a side eye, like they would prefer just about anyone but not him leading them.
Stopping the thoughts from ruling his mind further, he shut out the noise by closing his eyes tightly. A light knock came on the door with the door clicking open at the same time. He didn’t need to be told that it was Sebastian.
A strain had been on their relationship since the occurrence. Sebastian had become more rigid to him and was only close to Jayden because of the Fortress matters. Their conversations have been ending in monologues that made it extremely tiring for him. Rubbing at the back of his head, Jayden knew he needed to do something to relieve himself of the loneliness he was beginning to feel.
“What’s the word going round about you involving yourself with the rogues, Jayden?” Sebastian didn’t bother to serve him any pleasantries.
Jayden turned around to face him with a blank look on his face. “Am I being kept a tab on now?”
Sebastian groaned like he was in pain. “I really don’t want to start this with you right now Jayden. You should act more responsibly. Your father had fought tooth and nail to get these people away from the Moon Stone Fortress territory but now you are mingling with them? This is irresponsible of you.”
“Don’t you dare! I won’t have someone below me as yourself talk to me whichever way you chose to!” Jayden growled.
“Probably if you act more reasonable.” Sebastian mumbled as he slammed the file he had in hand on the table. “Right there is a report on the assaults being inflicted on the people by the rogues. We all know they would never dare to step on our territory knowing what would become of them except a certain someone gave them a leverage to do so. What the fuck are you up to Jayden?” He was getting angry now.
Jayden scoffed as he snatched his suit from the chair. “You won’t tell me what to do. Is that clear?!”
Moving close to him, Sebastian pointed a threatening finger at his face. “Listen here, this isn’t just about you. This Fortress is home to me and so many others. I won’t have you ruin it all for your selfish reasons. Don’t you think I would make it any easy for you, if you mess around. Jayden, I promise to make you pay for every bit of your mistake!” He grimaced in anger.
They both bared their teeth at each other and their wolves calling out at each other. Jayden could tell Sebastian was ready to have a drag on the field with him. Jayden cautioned his wolf. He stepped aside and barged out of the office.
Sebastian slumped into the nearest chair in exhaustion. There was no way he could keep up with the mess for long. He wished Jaylen would eventually come to his senses and return. A whole lot of trouble was coming up which was already disrupting the peaceful state of the Moon Stone Fortress.
Sebastian had always known Jayden to put the Fortress matters at heart, however, he appears to be unbothered about the happenings as he even looked lost himself. It scared him really bad.
