EPISODE NINETY ONE
THEME: The special wolf
MOON STONE FORTRESS
“Why won’t you let him know about his future of becoming the Alpha?” Tau upsilon Rex asked.
Rex is a thirty years old wolf. A representative from the Epsilon clan and leader of the Upsilon group. His wisdom is beyond his age. He is the most secretive wolf, every secrets of the Fortress lies in him and must die with him and he is the Alpha’s most trusted person.
Being a natural born guardian of the pack, it is essential for an Alpha to confide in him when the Alpha intends on making an important decision.
“Jaylen has a life outside of this place, so he wouldn’t accept the title while I am still alive. Plus being a considerate child, Jaylen would hate to deprive his brother of his supposed right and he might never return to the Moon Fortress.” Carl tried to explain as pain surged through him.
He had called for Rex’s presence in his study early that morning in order to seek help for Jaylen.
“What is the first thing to do right now?”
“I need you to offer a sacrifice to the Moon Goddess on behalf of Jaylen just to help him harness the powers given onto him. I also need you to get acquainted with him. He would need all the help he can get.” Carl answered.
“Jayden?” Rex asked.
Carl gulped hard at that question, he had no idea what response to say to that. Judging by Jayden’s reaction last night when he had attacked his brother for over a lady he is just crushing on. Then definitely a war would ensure if he ever gets to know of Jaylen becoming the Alpha of the Fortress. Jayden had worked his butt off to earn the post so he wouldn’t take things lightly with his brother who has been away from the Fortress for a decade. But, the prophecy must be followed.
“I have no idea, Rex. It is why I am seeking for everyone of you to help me in this situation. My wife can’t survive this on her own.” Carl confessed.
Rex shook his head in understanding. “You don’t have to worry Alpha, I would do what I can to ensure the reigns of the Fortress ends up in good hands.” He bowed his head.
A rapid knock was heard on the door. “May I come in?” Jaylen’s voice asked from behind the door.
Carl looked towards Rex with an hesitant look. “Sure son, please come in.”
Jaylen was taken aback by the the visitor standing in his father’s study. “Good morning dad.” He greeted and nodded towards the person.
“Morning son, you came at the right time.” Carl said, beckoning to him. “This is Tau Upsilon Rex. He is one of the Fortress Guardians, a shaman and also the leader of the Upsilon group.”
Not seeming to understand the reason for the introduction, Jaylen just simply shook his hands. “Nice to meet you, I am Jaylen.”
Rex nodded at him. “I am Rex. And I have heard quite a lot about you.”
Jaylen grinned. “I hope they are good stuffs.”
Rex smiled. “Sure.”
Jaylen scratched his head as he turned towards his father hoping it wouldn’t be a bad idea talking in front of the stranger. “I am so sorry for yesterday dad. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone but Jayden got me really angry.” He apologized with sincerity in his tone.
“It’s alright son. I know how annoying your brother can be.” Carl paused for a moment. “Don’t blame yourself for anything.” He added.
Jaylen shook his head slowly. “Also I have some questions to ask you.” He looked at Rex.
Carl observed his son closely. He could tell Jaylen felt guilty even though he wasn’t the one at fault. Jaylen has always been quick to accept his fault and apologize unlike Jayden.
“It’s okay son. I have asked Rex to come over today so as to talk to you about something. I have a feeling it has to do with whatever question you intend to ask.” Carl said, gesturing towards the empty chair for Jaylen to sit in.
Sitting rigidly on the edge of the chair, Jaylen wondered what the strange man had to say to him. Jaylen rubbed his sweaty palms together as he tried to steady his nerves.
Rex cleared his throat. “So how are you, Jaylen?”
Jaylen nodded in response. “I am pretty good. Thank you.”
“How have you been feeling lately?” Rex dived straight to the point ignoring all pleasantries.
“What do you mean?” Jaylen looked mortified.
“Have you been experiencing some waves lately? More like a vision and people’s thought sifting into yours.” Rex clarified.
“Yes, but how did you know that?” Jaylen inquired. He was surprised at how easy the guy had read his mind.
Rex looked towards Carl to answer his question. “Your mom said you were having some sort of nightmares so we decided to seek for help.”
“But I never told mom about my visions.” Jaylen argued as he looked at his father.
Carl shrugged. “He figured it out himself not me.” He defended himself.
Rex chortled. “You have nothing to worry about, Jaylen. I need to explain some things to you and I would love for you to listen well please. It has been discovered that you have a distinct unique wolf which comes with you having some peculiar abilities. This uniqueness doesn’t come easy to anyone and it is rare for your kind to exist in generations-”
“What do you mean by peculiar abilities?” Jaylen cut in.
“Please let me finish.” Rex said. “You have been bestowed with a Clairvoyance ability and also the ability to read minds. Not to forget you being able to channel energy from nature around you.”
“I didn’t know that was included.” Carl said.
“It is rare but he possesses it. I can feel his energy.” Rex responded. “Now, as awesome as this sounds if you don’t get enough training and also get to offer a sacrifice to the Moon Goddess as regards your ability, you can run wild and misuse your given power unintentionally. So to avoid this is why I am here.”
Jaylen stared in extreme shock as he couldn’t seem to comprehend a thing Rex was saying. “What sacrifice and training?”
Rex smiled lightly. “As for the sacrifice you leave that to me. But your training would be with me as I teach you to maneuver and channel your ability in the right way. In essence, enabling you to take control of your gifts. I would be in contact again as soon as I can.” He bowed his head to Carl. “I would take my leave now Alpha. I need to make the preparations for the sacrifice.”
Carl nodded. “Thanks Rex.”
After Rex exited the room, Jaylen still sat stiffly. “What just happened dad?”
Carl sighed. “We didn’t realize you have a special gift up until now, Jaylen.” He motioned for him to come close.
Jaylen stood up to kneel in front of his father. “I am so proud of you my boy. Thank you for finding a place in your heart to forgive your mother and I. And I also hope you would be able to do that with your brother. He can be silly sometimes I know, but he is just as sweet at heart as you can imagine.”
Jaylen smiled stiffly. “I would be sure to keep that in mind dad. Thanks for your time.” He mumbled, kissing him on the forehead before walking out of the study. Feeling heavy hearted he went straight back to his room.
