EPISODE EIGHTY
THEME: Help for Jaylen
MOON STONE FORTRESS
AT THE PACK HOUSE
Beta Julius and Theta Hazel watched in awe as alpha Carl and Luna Meagan gave a full detail of the dinner they had with their sons had went the next morning.
“I was shocked at first. I really thought Jayden was up to something and intends to humiliate his brother but to my surprise he acted so matured.” Meagan clapped happily.
“This is such a good development.” Beta Julius noted.
Carl heaved a sigh. “It is almost like a dream come true for me. For years I had wailed to the Moon Goddess to make my sons become best friends again. So when it seems like it’s happening, I couldn’t contain the joy I felt yesterday…it meant everything to me.”
Meagan smiled as she held on to Carl’s hand and kissed it. There was no doubt about Carl’s happiness last night, he had slept happily like a baby and with a smile on his face. The occurrence also made her feel happy and relaxed. It is the joy of every mother that her children should bond well and keep the family together, even when their parents are long gone.
However, as sweet as the situation on hand might seem, the bitter truth of what the future holds was still glaring and none of them knows how terrible it would be. Almost like Meagan had passed her thoughts to the rest of them, everyone looked gloomy at the same time.
Julius was the first to speak. “The seer had contacted me early this morning. I don’t know why she called me instead of you. But I guess she didn’t want to burden you both anymore.”
Carl sat up with his voice on edge. “What is it this time?”
“It’s about the Fortress.” Julius said.
The little color left in Carl’s face drained out. Sometimes he wished they didn’t believe in anything as the seer. Ever since he had come across her, she had never delivered any sort of good news to him. She was more like a seer of doom!
Just when Carl thought his whole week had been made, the seer just couldn’t keep her thoughts to herself.
Meagan swallowed hard to get rid of the lump that had formed in her throat at the mention of the seer. “What did she say about the Fortress?” She asked the Beta.
Beta Julius looked at his wife for help. Hazel rubbed slowly at her laps before looking up at Meagan.
“She said bloodshed would occur in the Fortress but only a silver fur can save it and only if the silver fur is saved.” Hazel paused at the words she had uttered. She looked even more confused herself. “Does that even make any sense?”
“Why are her prophecies always giving such chills?” Julius asked no one in particular.
Carl shut his eyes knowing exactly what the seer meant. For some nights, he has been experiencing some terrible nightmares that involves a silver fur going wild. And it is no other wolf than Jaylen. Carl has been trying to seek for the right time to tell Jaylen about his ability, but it stayed heavy on his mouth every time he thinks about it.
“I feel this new prophecy still wraps around the old one.” Hazel said. Everyone looked at her again and she continued. “I mean…to my understanding…it explains that only Jaylen can be made Alpha to save the Fortress and everyone of us from ruins.” Hazel lowered her voice as she talked.
“Have you noticed any odd reaction from Jaylen as of late?” Julius directed the question to Carl and Meagan.
Meagan who had stayed quiet before suddenly jolted from her thoughts. “Yes, last night when I went to get him for dinner. He seem to be having a nightmare when it’s just almost time for dinner. Also he was growling like one would when there is a shift.”
“Did he tell you what was wrong with him?” Carl asked.
Meagan shook her head. “Not at all, he didn’t say too much. Jaylen only assured me that he was fine.” She answered.
“Do you think he is hiding something?” Hazel inquired.
Julius bit on his lower lip gently. “Well we can’t be too sure yet. But to keep Jaylen safe it would be right to seek for the Epsilons help.”
“It’s about time already?” Carl asked sounding uncomfortable.
“He would need to get acquainted with them most especially Rex, if we must protect him from himself.” Julius advised.
“Is the Epsilon group not guardians of the pack?” Meagan inquired.
“Yes the Epsilon Group are known as the priests or shamans of the pack. And which implies that their representative that was given to the Alpha who is Tau Upsilon Rex can help Jaylen control his abilities without being a burden to himself or any other person.” Hazel responded.
“How do you think he would take this?” Meagan asked.
“Not pleasantly, but he would need to be told this eventually. At the same time I don’t want him to know this now, not until Jaylen is aware of him becoming the Alpha of the Fortress.” Carl said.
“How about telling him in secret the ability he possesses.” Hazel suggested.
“It would still revolve around telling him he is the Alpha wolf. If Jayden should hear that all hell would let lose before the right day. I am really going to loose my mind before death at this point.” Carl said weakly. He was sounding exhausted.
Julius sighed in despair. The mere look at his best friend’s body, he felt a part of him tear apart. To think that the twin brothers are just getting to be nice to each other, it would be a big hassle if such news escape the walls they were in. Jayden would be sure to lose it so in order to avoid such mess there is a need to keep Jaylen’s powers to be kept a secret till he can fully exercise it.
“Let’s leave it till the time comes. I would handle the necessary things.” Julius said.
“What do you mean? I thought you said he would run wild and now that the seer is also making reference to it don’t you think we need to do something?” Meagan looked worried.
Julius chuckled lightly. “Luna you still don’t get it. The running wild doesn’t mean that he would go wild really soon. But I would be sure to keep a tab on him. For now let the brothers enjoy their company and be best of friends again. Maybe all of this mess would be averted.”
Carl felt his heart beating faintly as he could sense he had just few more time to go. Sharing a knowing look with Julius, he knew why Julius had said to give it time. With the rest of his strength he had linked his mind portal with that of Julius to communicate with him to avoid Meagan worrying about him. He felt guilty enough for the situation he had put her in.
The days were no longer on his side and he wanted to get his whole family together one last time and to live happily like there won’t be any death soon.
A thought struck his mind as he stared lovingly at Meagan. Carl tried to hold up a smile. “Baby, what do you think of a family get together and when I say family I mean everyone.”
