EPISODE SEVENTY ONE
THEME: Good morning
MOON STONE FORTRESS
AT THE PACK HOUSE
Jaylen whistled a tune to himself and moved his head to the rhythm. He made his way towards his parents room. He had just gotten off the phone with Lorelei and he couldn’t help smiling to himself.
Last night had been a total dream come true for him, being able to make love with the person he loves so much and cares about. A month ago when he arrived at Moon Stone Fortress he would have never thought things would turn out this way, not him falling in love or becoming more attached to his parents.
Everything looked great except with Jayden. He thought.
Jaylen let out a stressed sigh when his brother walked towards him. Deciding to avoid anything that might result in him having a clash with Jayden. He walked closer to the other side of the wall, with the intention of ignoring whatever it is Jayden might be intending to do.
“Good morning.” Jayden muttered, not sparing Jaylen a glance as he moved away.
Jaylen almost backed into the wall, the look on his face proved that he was shocked at Jayden’s action.
Smirking to himself, Jayden turned around to stare at his brother. His hands were hidden in his pocket. “I just said good morning. I thought you had a problem with me not being civil. Good morning brother.” Jayden said.
Jaylen gulped hard as he composed himself. “Good morning to you too.”
Jayden shook his head and walked away without tainting his composure.
“Did that just happen?” Claire gasped from behind as she looked towards the direction Jayden exited.
Jaylen looked speechless. “I can’t tell myself.”
“Mom and grandma would love to hear this!” Claire said as she ran off to the direction Jaylen was headed himself.
Following with a less determining stride, Jaylen opened the door to the room. As always his parents were seated together with his grandma on the couch she sits on.
“Is there a family conference going on here?” Jaylen sounded tired.
“Come here baby.” Meagan called out to him with her hands outstretched.
Walking towards her Jaylen leaned into her embrace. “Good morning mom.” He looked towards his father whose eyes are closed. He stared back at his mother. “Why is he still sleeping?”
Meagan sighed. “He had a rough night and didn’t get much sleep. But he just got relieved this morning.”
“The pain is spreading really fast.” Gabriella chipped in.
Claire sat next to Gabriella and placed her head on her grandmother’s shoulder. “He is dying soon right?” She mumbled.
A sudden gloom settled into the room with each person lost in their own thought. Gabriella shook her head after realizing that brooding won’t do them any good.
“Can you all stop looking so sad? He is still here with us and that is what matters.” She said.
“I was just about to ask if we have lost anyone in the family.” Carl said in a whisper like sound after some minutes of silence.
“Goodness! I almost pee my pants!” Claire blurted. “Dad!” She called out and rushed at him.
“Ouch.” Carl made an intentional sound. “You are becoming a really big baby.” He kissed her hair as she embraced him tightly.
“How are you feeling?” She asked.
“Young and restless.” Carl joked with a weak smile on his expression.
“Hey dad.” Jaylen called out.
“How are you son?” A brighter beam grazed his face this time.
Claire winked at Jaylen as she responded on his behalf. “Jaylen is over the moon.”
“Claire!” Jaylen warned.
Gabriella moved to the edge of her chair, seeming interested. “Is there something going on?”
Meagan mused too as she looked between her children. “What’s the matter?”
“Guess who said a good morning to Jaylen few minutes ago?” Claire uttered.
“Is it what I am thinking?” Meagan inquired.
Jaylen spoke for himself this time. “Yes mom. Jayden greeted me this morning.”
“Oh my goodness!” Gabriella and Meagan gasped at the same time.
“This is good news.” Carl muttered.
A small smile played on Carl’s lips as he hoped Jayden is actually coming to his senses and accepting that is brother isn’t his enemy. Last night, he had been unable to sleep at the thought of Jaylen’s wolf turning out to be the Alpha wolf. The seer had been right all along and had been able to see through the future.
The birth of the twins hadn’t been extraordinary except for the fact that Jayden had shown the strength to an Alpha from birth. He had been the first to shift and there had been doubts of what the seer said.
Julius revelation yesterday had only got Carl in a deep thinking state of mind which had enhanced his pain. There was no way he could tell Meagan what was going on in his mind because she was looking more relaxed as of late and he didn’t want to deprive her of the peace she was feeling.
“Are you okay dad?” Jaylen crashed into his thoughts.
Carl nodded his head. “Yeah. I am okay son. I can sense your wolf overtly excited. Perhaps is there something you want to share with us?”
Jaylen smiled brightly at his father’s words. He had almost forgotten his father was an Alpha and could sense different wolves aura. Once an Alpha, always an Alpha.
“I sensed it when he and Claire came in too. Your cheeks are glowing too bright!” Gabriella teased.
“Granny!” Jaylen whined.
“Should I tell them?” Claire winked. She sounded so eager.
“Tell what?” Jaylen asked before reckoning with what she meant. He had almost forgotten Lorelei was best friends with his sister. “I’m so done for.” He muttered under his breath.
“Tell us about it baby.” Meagan prompted him with a curious eyes.
“Fine!” He chuckled. “I have found my mate. I mean someone my wolf wants so badly.” Jaylen announced.
“Who?” They all blurted at the same time, their reaction scaring Jaylen. He expected that they would know even without him saying her name.
Jaylen grinned as he scratched the back of his head. “It’s Lorelei.”
“Yayyyyy!” Claire stood up from the bed and did her usual robotic dance causing the adults to laugh delightfully,
“You are such a mess. But this is so funny!” Jaylen noted as he chuckled.
“When is the wedding?” Meagan blurted out although trying to pull her son’s legs.
“Mom!” Jaylen groaned.
“What?” Meagan giggled.
“We haven’t gotten to that stage yet. We only started dating recently.” Jaylen replied.
“Recently? So till when? I mean…the wedding!” Gabriella added with an intention to tease Jaylen too.
Jaylen glared at his grandma. “Don’t do that Granny.”
Gabriella spread out her hands in defense. “What did I do?”
Meagan observed her son and a feeling of relief washed over her. The first week Jaylen had arrived there had been some sort of restriction and resistance from him to the environment. She had feared that it won’t take long for him to go back to Chicago as he might be unable to adjust to the Fortress settings properly. But to her amusement Jaylen had found his ground by himself and it pleased her.
She was happy that Jaylen was able to find a stand at the Fortress without feeling bullied or oppressed.
“I am trying to take things slow with Lorelei. We don’t have to rush things yet.” Jaylen said.
Everyone stopped talking when one of the maids walked in.
“It’s time for breakfast.” The maid announced to them.
