It’s been three days since the party at Estrella’s place. Sia went to the hospital and conducted some tests for STDs but the doctor assured her she was clean but should check back in two weeks’ time.
Forgetting the wild night has been a hard knot to crack for Sia. Every time she flutters her eyes close, the images keep replaying in her head, it sucks.
She was almost done prepping for work when one of the servants informed her of Liam’s arrival. Since the fire incident some time ago, Sia loved Liam to be her constant driver. However, she had tried to know more about him but all his answers were vague. She figured he doesn’t like sharing stories about himself.
She quickly pulled the zipper of her black thin strapped gown that left her chest and upper back bare. The hickey from the wild night is, of course, still visible but she endeavors to hide it with makeup. Although, the makeup did little to hide the hickey. When you look more closely at the crook of her neck, you’d see the tinged skin.
Ignoring the mark, Sia bustled for her bag and phone after climbing on her four inches heels. She paced to the door and down the stairs, where a series of salutations was showered on her.
She rejected Michelle’s offer for breakfast with a polite smile while she sauntered to the door. She heard the Bugatti’s engine grunting and finalized that Liam already sparked the engine to life.
On squeezing inside the car, Liam greeted her and rev up the engine. There were on the road within two heartbeats. Sia leisurely navigated the news blog with her phone as they drove to the Monson’s group.
“I need coffee.” She said nonchalantly while her eyes pinned on her phone. Liam need not be told what to do. He made a detour to head to ‘Anything For Macalista’ and grabbed a cup of coffee for Sia.
Sia’s lazily beating heart spiked when she spotted the news about Lucas’s wedding. Her mind made a little flashback to what Lucas blurted while they were in the room.
Seeing the news ignited her anger toward him. Pictures of him and Danika clouded the screen and each website she slid into it.
With a gnashed teeth, she cut through the deafening silence that filled the car. “How about the project I told you to handle?”
Her words crept into Liam’s ears. He peered at her through the mirror and saw her knitted brows.
‘Did something happen that she’s suddenly interested in knowing whether I still running the project? Someone must have pissed her off.’ Liam mused.
He shook his head ‘yes’ before uttering.
“It’s been going well. At the moment there are only a few shareholders remaining in the company. They really showed interest in selling off their shares.”
Liam peeked at the rearview mirror before rolling his eyes back at the road.
“Get more shares from them. This week.” She ordered, her voice gruff with anger.
As Liam tried to understand the reason for Sia’s change of attitude, he remembered the trending news about Lucas’s marriage to Danika. He had been suspecting Sia’s relationship with Lucas since he saw their pictures some time ago.
The anger imprinted on Sia’s face is enough proof they were once lovers. But he wonders what Lucas did to her that warranted such anger and hatred to the extent of wanting him bankrupt.
As Liam was pondering on this, he mindlessly screeched the car to a sudden halt that made Sia fall forward and hit her head on the front passenger’s seat.
Searing pains glided through her. She pasted her hand on her head to quiet her rumbling mind when Liam’s voice reverberated.
“I’m so sorry, ma’am. It wasn’t intentional. A kid almost got hit by our car and another one moved forward. So I had to stop.” He uttered in a haste.
When the word ‘kid’ fall off Liam’s lips, Sia was on high alert.
“A kid?” She asked, dropping her phone. Liam nodded and they stared outside from the windshield. The woman driving forward already jumped off her car and fiercely gripped the trembling kid by her arm and was scolding her.
Sia was supposed to hide in her car, considering the high-profile car they took. People might suspect her identity but thankfully, only a few seniors watched what was transpiring.
Sia flipped the door open and raced toward the woman.
“Leave the kid alone!” She yelled when she saw the kid crying.
“Abbey!” Another kid exclaimed and Sia swiveled her head to her left. She saw a kid pacing toward the crying one and felt as if she’d seen the kid somewhere. However, she paid no heed to her thoughts and faced the lady who happened to be Danika.
When their eyes crashed, Danika’s legs faltered. After her discovery about Sia’s identity, she sees her as a demigoddess which does nothing but ignited more hatred and anger inside her.
“She’s a kid. You shouldn’t scold her like that.” Sia hummed and pulled Abbey away from Danika’s grip.
“Abbey, are you good? Did you get hurt?” Nika asked, scanning Abbey’s body.
Abbey couldn’t control her tears as a result of shock. She whirled around and hugged Sia’s legs likewise Nica.
“Don’t cry, Abbey.” Nica consoled.
They both craned their heads and watched the bickering ladies.
“Really? She’s a kid but stupidly crossed the road without waiting for an adult to help her, huh?” Danika’s words were harsh and her anger wasn’t about the child’s behavior but the woman who wields power in front of her.
“Look, I don’t want to banter with you about this. You should be more careful. Things like this are bound to happen. I just don’t like the fact that you were scolding her so heartlessly.” Sia said while shoveling her hands through the kid’s hair.
Danika gritted her jaw tightly. “Are you commanding me now, slum girl? Because you…” She pointed at Sia’s car. “Came out from a Bugatti?” She can’t help taunting Sia despite knowing her background. “Who knows how many dick you took to buy the car.”
Sia took the word as an offense. She was already vexing and Danika had the gut to pile up her anger. Sia reflexively sent her fist to Danika’s face.
Danika plastered her hands on her stinging cheek as anger seeped through her.
“How dare you swat me!?” She barked.
Sia’s mind relaxed after slapping Danika. She calmly rolled her eyes before speaking.
“Watch how you talk next time. Not everyone wakes up in a good mood to ignore your stupid words.” She ventured.
Danika still held her aching cheek. All her life, she had never been hit but Sia and Estrella conjured the balls to hit her?
Danika’s eyes drove down to Sia’s neck and she spotted the hickey. Tension grew inside her at the sight of the hickey.
She instantly
remembered the fingerprints on Lucas’s nape.
‘Did they… have sex? Was I fooled by Lucas?’ She mused, not tearing her eyes off Sia’s neck.
Danika was too occupied trying to put two and two together but her mind only convinced her that Sia hates Lucas and they couldn’t have made out.
Shoving the burning thoughts aside, she collected herself to spew some words.
“You fucking slapped me? We shall see. Mark my words, you won’t scott free from this.” She whisper-yelled and paced back to her car.
Once Danika was out of sight, Sia’s eyes fell on the two kids gripping her legs tightly.
“Hey, kids. How are you?” She asked, ruffling their hair. She crouched down to see their faces. “Why were you running out on the road like that? Don’t you know it’s risky?” She asked Abbey who dropped her head between her shoulders, pouting.
“We just wanted to sell our candies, big lady,” Nica responded.
Sia swiveled her head toward her and scrunched up her brows.
“Have we met before?” She asked.
Nica cupped Sia’s cheeks. Surprise took over Sia’s features at the girl’s act. However, Nica bored her gaze on Sia before yelling.
“The crying big lady! I know you!” She hugged Sia and that gesture subsided all her anger. She held the girl and pat her back while holding Abbey with her other hand.
When Nica broke the hug she spat.
“You’re not crying today?”
Sia uttered a laughter at her innocent comment. She pinched her cheeks playfully.
“You said big ladies don’t cry. So I’m not crying again.”
Hearing that, a fleeting smile crossed Nica’s face. “Yes, big ladies don’t cry.” She worded.
“You said you’re selling your candies?” Sia asked and both girls shoved their candies to her face.
“Buy our candies please?” They both uttered.
Sia sighed and stood up. She scrambled to her car and wriggled out her bag. She took ten dollar notes and handed them to them.
“Alright. You can keep your candies too.” She told them. The kids jumped up in joy and asked her to bring her cheeks closer. When Sia hunkered down they cast their lips on her cheeks.
A warm feeling rolled inside her. She turned and kissed them too before they waved goodbye at her and dashed off.
“Let’s leave.” She told Liam once they settled in the car.
