On stage, a wedding ceremony was taking place, with many people in the audience offering their blessings. Among them, Evelyn Hall couldn’t hide her envy. It was well-known in St. Sunday that she had a deep admiration for the War God, Robin Bailey. However, at this moment, Evelyn Hall didn’t make a move. She didn’t even bother to dress up nicely for the occasion, fearing she might steal the bride’s spotlight. But upon her arrival, she realized she couldn’t outshine Elise Houry’s beauty. Elise Houry was truly stunning, even without putting in much effort to look her best. Despite still holding feelings for Robin Bailey, Evelyn Hall had made peace with the fact that some loves are unattainable. She leaned against the wall, watching the newlyweds, applauding and murmuring, “Blessings to the newlyweds.”
Standing beside her were several women, including Alastair Angelo and Cain Johnson, all of whom held fond feelings for Robin Bailey. Yet, they accepted the reality that the War God belonged to someone else. The one who had waited seven long years for him, the War God’s wife. “Throw the flowers,” Priya Bates, overcome with emotion, gestured, tears streaming down her face as roses danced in the sky. Even Miranda Levis, who still looked a bit pale, was captivated by the breathtaking scene.
Soon, the wedding banquet began, and everyone sat down, enjoying the festivities. It was then that Miranda Levis, with reddened eyes, approached Robin Bailey and deeply bowed, “I’m sorry, I was wrong before. I underestimated you; I am the one who’s useless.” She had hurled insults at Robin Bailey before, and now, she wished she could slap herself for it. But when Robin Bailey glanced at her and said, “No need to apologize. After all, every time you offended me in the past, I deducted from your bonus. So, we’re even now.” Miranda Levis was stunned, “What!” She exclaimed. “Deducted my bonus? That’s why all my bonuses for the past five years were gone. I went to Mr. Jordan, and he said it was arranged by someone important. I didn’t realize it was you.”
“Elise, he deducted my bonus,” Miranda Levis cried again, not for herself but out of frustration at Robin Bailey’s actions. She finally understood why her bonuses had been deducted for five years. She felt it was unfair but had no choice as she didn’t want to leave the Robin-Sophia Group. Out of sheer frustration, she accepted her fate. Little did she know that it was Robin Bailey who had orchestrated it all.
Miranda eased up on her criticisms of Robin Bailey and, instead, turned to Elise Houry with tearful eyes, extending her arms to embrace her, crying, “Five… five years of bonuses… Elise…”
“It’s okay, it’s okay. I’ll get them back for you,” Elise Houry comforted Miranda, patting her back and giving Robin Bailey a stern look, as if to say, “Hurry up and fix this.”
“Fine,” Robin Bailey chuckled helplessly, making the promise. Miranda stopped crying but still sounded tearful, “You’re the best, Elise.” She seemed to imply that someone had mistreated her. Indeed, Robin Bailey had subtly tormented her in the past.
Later on, Robin Bailey attended to other guests, including Timothy Buosont and Dillon James. As for Timothy Buosont, he would stay until after Robin Bailey’s wedding before leaving. It was a significant event.
Eventually, Robin and Rocco Lewis found themselves alone in a quiet corner, away from the crowd. Rocco handed Robin a drink, and they clinked glasses before taking a sip. Rocco couldn’t hide his admiration for Robin’s clever plan involving Lisa. He felt compelled to be by Lisa’s side at all times now, unwilling to let her out of his sight, fearing for her safety.
Robin, leaned against the railing, with the window open, a gentle breeze blowing in, creating a comfortable atmosphere. He explained, “I used to be an orphan. Only an orphan truly understands what another orphan desires from childhood. What we seek is nothing but a sense of security.”
Rocco, who had always felt restless in one place due to his lack of belonging, now had his own family to anchor him. His children were his blood, and he would never leave them. This newfound sense of responsibility was unexpected but welcomed.
“Initially, I resented you for disrupting my peaceful life. But over time, I’ve come to appreciate this new Chapter. Having a wife and children gives me a sense of fulfillment that I never knew I needed,” Rocco expressed, attempting to articulate this newfound feeling.
Robin nodded in understanding, “Responsibility.”
“Exactly! Responsibility. I never imagined that I, of all people, would one day feel this way. It’s quite a marvel. But let me tell you, it’s an amazing feeling,” Rocco chuckled. Seeing the contentment in Rocco, Robin’s earlier warnings and doubts about his future self would have warranted an eye roll.
Rocco suddenly noticed something and hurriedly ran over, shouting, “Don’t toast to my wife, she’s pregnant! Beer? No, that’s alcohol too. Let’s drink together, today I will make you all drunk.” He grabbed Lisa’s drink and gulped it down with enthusiasm. Robin calmly turned around, observing the scene with a knowing smile. If he had mentioned to the former Rocco Lewis about this scenario, he would have been met with resistance. Rocco declared, “I’m meant to live the bachelor lifestyle, with thousands of women to conquer. Being tied down like this goes against my very nature.” And yet, here he was, reveling in his newfound bliss.
While assigning the mission in R country to Rocco Lewis would have been more advantageous, Robin refrained from asking, knowing that Rocco’s family life took precedence. He wasn’t cruel enough to disrupt that. The once passionate Rocco Lewis had found solace in domesticity, a better outcome for everyone involved. As for the deceits and schemes, they could be handed over to Eliott Garner, who might just surprise them all.
