Elise Houry watched them leave, her gaze complex. At that moment, Robin Bailey placed a hand on her shoulder, Leslie holding her small hand. A hint of tenderness appeared in Elise Houry’s eyes-she had a new family now.
“You two, stop staring, it’s time,” Nina Houry suddenly exclaimed. She knew about this matter but could do nothing except end it. “Yes, yes, hurry, the wedding is starting.”
“Quick, bridesmaids, groomsmen, get ready,” the crowd chimed in.
With that, the preparations began. Soon, the bridesmaids were about to walk, but amidst them, Miranda Levis seemed dazed. What was going on? Why did things suddenly turn out like this? Was Robin Bailey a war god?
“Did I misjudge Robin Bailey again?” Miranda Levis gradually began to understand, a hint of embarrassment on her face. She had misjudged Robin Bailey again, for the second time. She had always thought Robin Bailey was just a weakling, not realizing she was the current Kisia’s top war god, an unmatched and powerful figure.
However, as she watched Elise Houry and Robin Bailey walk together in the end, she breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, the pair remained together. The lovebirds were not separated, after all. Thank goodness.
Just as she was relieved, Nina Houry approached Miranda Levis, looking at Robin Bailey and said, “Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention something. Your boss’s boss, the chairman of Robin-Sophia Group, is actually my brother-in-law. That piano prince, my brother-in-law. X, my brother-in-law. The big spender, my brother-in-law. And the Kisia’s top war god, also my brother-in-law.”
Elise Houry decided to forget about this information and not mention it. She didn’t want to embarrass her best friend. However, just because she chose not to say it didn’t mean Nina Houry wouldn’t. Though Nina Houry kept mentioning Bailey, her relationship with Robin Bailey was actually quite good. She knew Miranda Levis bullied her brother-in-law every day but Robin Bailey never said anything because of her sister. However, Nina Houry was not someone with a big heart. She wanted to stand up for Robin Bailey.
And with that declaration, Miranda Levis’ face turned pale. She wanted to disappear into a hole and never show her face again. What had she done before, admiring Robin Bailey all this time, only to find out she was the subject of her admiration?
Elise Houry noticed the commotion and saw Nina Houry. She knew something had happened and gave Nina Houry a reproachful look before she left. Then Elise Houry approached Miranda Levis.
“Elise… I’m sorry.. I… I shouldn’t be your bridesmaid… I don’t deserve it…”
Miranda Levis started crying. She had never cried much in her life, but this time, she was really crying foolishly. What had she been doing all this time?
“It’s okay,” Elise Houry reached out, wiping Miranda Levis’ tears. “We’ve been friends for so many years, I know you did it for my own good. Stop crying, stop crying. If you really can’t bear it, just go apologize to Robin Bailey later. After all…”
“Mhmm, I’ll definitely apologize to her later,” Miranda Levis nodded repeatedly.
“Stop crying. It’s about to start, and it wouldn’t be good if your makeup gets ruined,” Elise Houry comforted her.
“Okay,” Miranda Levis finally stopped crying, took out a mirror, and went to touch up her makeup. Today was her best friend’s wedding, and she couldn’t afford to look like a mess.
The wedding began shortly after. To the sound of music, the two newlyweds appeared. One dressed in a beautiful white gown with a star and heart necklace that Robin Bailey had personally put on her. She looked incredibly beautiful. On the left was a woman, while on the right stood a man in a black military uniform, tall, sharp in stature, his eyes filled with gentleness when he looked at the person beside him.
In the middle was a little girl, Coco, like a porcelain doll. Led by Robin Bailey and Elise Houry, she wore a golden dragon robe, a privilege very few possessed. But Leslie deserved it because she was the daughter of Kisia’s top war god.
The three walked hand in hand towards the front where an old man stood-Mr. Berger, the only one left to oversee Robin Bailey and Elise Houry’s tea ceremony. Robin Bailey had no family, and Elise Houry’s parents had passed away, leaving Mr. Berger as the one to oversee this momentous occasion.
“Serve tea to your teacher,” Robin Bailey and Elise Houry each handed a cup of tea to Mr. Berger, bowing respectfully. Robin Bailey spoke sincerely, “Teacher, thank you for looking after me all these years.”
“Very good,” Mr. Berger accepted the tea and sipped it slowly, feeling nostalgic. He had seen Robin Bailey enter the military camp as a young recruit, and now, this same recruit was getting married. It was a joyous occasion.
“Leslie, your turn,” Robin Bailey handed another cup of tea to Leslie.
“I’m Leslie, Grandpa,” Leslie introduced herself, not sure what else to say. She then greeted her grandpa.
Mr. Berger looked at Leslie with fondness. She was such a cute little girl, and he felt like hugging her. But it wasn’t the time-it was their wedding day.
“Let me have some tea too,” Mr. Berger picked up his cup and took a sip.
Next, Priya Bates, serving as the emcee, stepped forward. She stood in front of them and asked loudly, “Groom, do you promise to be with her, whether she is rich or poor, healthy or unwell, for the rest of your life?”
“I do,” Robin Bailey declared loudly.
“Bride, do you agree to marry the groom?” Priya Bates asked Elise Houry.
“I do,” Elise Houry responded loudly.
“And, will you, Elise Houry, love this man forever, whether he is rich or poor, healthy or unwell?” Priya Bates asked again.
“Yes, I will. No matter what the future holds, I, Elise Houry, will always love this man,” Elise Houry announced boldly, her voice loud as if she wanted the world to hear.
I, Elise Houry, love this man.
I love him very much!
I will be with this man for the rest of my life!
“Honey,” Robin Bailey took a step forward, and finally, the two kissed. The crowd cheered, and the entire Kisia celebrated this day. Everyone wished them a happy and loving marriage.
However, far away in the Western Sea, inside a submarine, a man pressed his walkie-talkie, “We have reached the outskirts of Kisia, waiting for further instructions.”
They were not from another country but the Shadow Killers. They weren’t here to fight but to steal.
“Stay hidden for a while, find an opportunity to enter the Western State. Be very careful not to alert Kisia’s top war god. This mission is top secret. If that person finds out, it’ll be troublesome.”
“Yes.”
After hanging up the phone, the man on the other end muttered to himself, “Robin Bailey, an extraordinary figure that hasn’t appeared in thousands of years, has emerged in this era. Let’s hope he doesn’t disrupt our plans.”
The Shadow Killers found him a formidable opponent. Luckily, their mission was secretive this time.
