Chapter 387: Resurrection from Desperation (Part 7)

“Ghost Wolf Cavalry, kill them all!”
“We are cavalry, if we are to die, we should die charging forward.”
Above a battlefield, a squad of Ghost Wolf Cavalry was furiously charging forward. Erniu was the vanguard, wielding a large halberd, causing countless casualties within the enemy ranks.
In this small-scale battlefield, the Ghost Wolf Cavalry had the upper hand.
However, this advantage lasted for less than ten minutes. Within a few minutes, the surrounding enemy forces could encircle them, and at that time, no matter how brave the Ghost Wolf Cavalry was, they could not escape the fate of death.
Seeing this, the commander of a South Land squad said, “Are they giving it their all? It seems like they’re desperate. Send a message back, we’re launching a full-on attack.”
“Yes.” Immediately, a soldier began waving a flag to relay the message.
Soon, the message reached the main camp.
“Are they trying to clear the way and take our place?” a strategist suggested.
This coincided with their previous speculations. The Ghost Wolf Cavalry was likely trying to break through from within.
“That’s too stupid, wouldn’t we notice right away?” another general commented.
“Not necessarily, you forgot, they were attacking from three directions at the same time before. They might be advancing from one of those directions.”
“Maybe they’re preparing to come from the rear.”
Several generals speculated.
This Ghost Wolf Cavalry increasingly fit their previous conjectures.
In fact, they hadn’t figured it out themselves, it was pointed out by Benson Laydon. This was one of the few ways to break the formation, but it was also extremely difficult. Not many could pull it off.
Choosing this method was essentially a suicide mission.
However, because General Jones was there, even if the enemy chose a path of death, they had to give it their all to prevent their ship from capsizing in the gutter.
“General Jones, what should we do?”
Benson Laydon asked Aston Jones.
“The situation is still unclear, continue to search for the enemy.”
Aston Jones’s eyes were fixed on the sand table.
“Yes.”
Immediately, the soldiers obeyed the order.
Then, the South Land army continued to search for the squad. But at this time, the three small squads had moved to breach another place. At this location, Black Wolf led his forces out to battle.
“Kill them all, not a single one can escape, we only have five minutes.”
Black Wolf roared.
Immediately, the entire troop began to attack ferociously.
The commander of a South Land squad noticed this and his face changed color: “This is the real main force. My twenty thousand troops can’t resist at all. Contact the main camp, we are facing the enemy’s main force.”
He had just given the order to contact the main camp. But at this moment, a dagger swept across his neck, and his head flew off. The next second, his head was kicked away by a panicking soldier, and the flag bearer beside him met the same fate.
“Commander, the mission is complete.”
Three men in enemy uniforms, with cold faces, came to Black Wolf.
These three were members of the Shadow Crew. Each army was equipped with a certain number of Shadow Crew for assassinations and gathering intelligence. Previously, Aaron Linton had sent this Shadow Crew to interfere with the enemy’s scouts, thereby cutting off the enemy’s control of their movements.
Without their commander and a series of generals, this South Land squad was quickly wiped out by the Ghost Wolf Cavalry. Of course, this time Black Wolf gave the death order, and all the Ghost Wolf Cavalry fought desperately.
They were truly fighting desperately. As long as they had a breath left, they could continue to kill the enemy.
“Everyone, listen to my command.”
Black Wolf looked at the people dressed in South Land military uniforms.
“Yes.”
The people immediately responded.
“What’s our next step?” Black Wolf turned to ask Aaron Linton.
“The three squads, keep fighting. Three more rounds,” Aaron Linton gasped.
“Yes.”
Before Black Wolf could issue the command, the three blood-smeared squad leaders respectfully obeyed. After all, they were undoubtedly courting death now. If they had to wait for the leader’s order, he might not have the heart to give it. So, they took the initiative to ask for the command. The three squads went out, fueled with a crazy fighting spirit.
However, Black Wolf watched them, his eyes showing a complex emotion. They were already about to lose more than half of their forces. Three more rounds, and they might be completely gone. However, he didn’t say anything. The battlefield was no place for mercy. As a general, one must be ruthless.
“The rest of you, follow the previous plan,” Black Wolf commanded.
They had already put down their clothes and changed into the enemy’s uniform. As for the black horses, a part of them was given to the three squads, and some were set free. Otherwise, an entire troop of cavalry would be easily discovered. But the released warhorses were actually in the middle of the battlefield. They would come rushing at their command.
“Signal the flag,” Black Wolf immediately ordered.
The enemy had already called for reinforcements, which could arrive within ten minutes. But their suicidal attack as the Ghost Wolf Cavalry managed to eliminate all enemies within five minutes. Then they had the flag bearers send a message out.
Suddenly, a message that ‘the enemy retreated and headed in another direction’ spread. The reinforcements that were originally coming to support them also retreated. After all, they had to defend their positions.
And this message was transmitted back to the main camp.
“The enemy attacked again, then retreated? They changed places? What are they doing, playing tricks? Or are they covering up their actions?” a strategist guessed.
“Very likely. But where would they come from? The first attack location, or the second, or the third? Or the next one? Or perhaps, they are not planning to use the method we guessed?” a soldier said.
Three possibilities.
The enemy had either already come in, at the first or second attack location. Or, they were still waiting for an opportunity. Or perhaps, they did not use this method at all and were using other tactics. Or, the Ghost Wolf Cavalry was really looking for a way out everywhere.
And even if they guessed it, they were completely powerless at the moment.
“General Jones.”
In the end, all the generals and strategists turned their eyes to Aston Jones. This man was the one in charge.
Aston Jones had been staring at the sand table, and after a while, he finally said one word: “Begin.”
“General Jones, are you starting the formation now?”
Everyone was stunned, and Benson Laydon stepped forward to ask.
“We’ve searched twice and haven’t found them. Continuing to search will only be detrimental to us. Start the formation, force them out. I want to see who has the guts to break into my formation,” Aston Jones said with a wave of his sleeve.
The entire formation was then activated, and the army of four hundred thousand was like a grinding plate. Once they made a slight mistake, they would be discovered.
