“General,” Jeff Reczek, clutching his chest, limped back. A trace of blood stained his chest, and the corner of his mouth was smeared with fresh blood. He reported, “Something is amiss with these people. They do not seem to be the main force.”
If they were the main force, they couldn’t possibly have suffered such a massive defeat. Even in fear, they wouldn’t act this way.
Suddenly, a man draped in a black robe appeared. He held a South Land soldier in his hand, and quickly said, “General, this guy is from Kisia. There are many such Kisians in the rear. Only the front lines are the real South Land troops.”
“Also, we discovered a scouting battalion as formidable as ours, interfering with our intelligence. That’s why we couldn’t detect what was happening in time.”
Shadow Crew. Kisia Scouts.
“Their target is not me, nor Jeff Reczek, and definitely not St. Sunday. It’s the Ghost Wolf Cavalry under my command,” a glint flashed in Robin’s eyes.
Suddenly, everything made sense.
Why would they set up such a huge posture all at once, committing the entire army, displaying an insane degree of fervor? Even renowned South Land military high-ranking practitioners like Rawdan Jefferson and Caleb Laydon were present at the front.
They even dispatched ten generals specifically to target Jeff Reczek. With this interpretation, it seemed entirely reasonable that they staged a full-scale attack to kill Jeff Reczek, involving so many people and generals.
However, this was a mere illusion.
They probably had only two hundred thousand men here. Among them, two hundred thousand were common people from Kisia, forced to wear South Land military uniforms. They stood at the rear, not needing to join the battle, creating an illusion of an overwhelming force.
The true main force was not here, but was besieging his Ghost Wolf Cavalry.
After all, in the previous plan, the Ghost Wolf Cavalry was dispatched to threaten this large army. Once the South Land army launched a large-scale attack, the hundred thousand cavalry would break through the defense line and strike the border.
The border only had a hundred thousand men, and only one Pierre Calder.
Hundred thousand against hundred thousand, Robin’s cavalry was the most elite. With equal numbers, they were invincible. The hundred thousand cavalry could break through the border. Once broken, they could head straight for Lord Whiteford.
Then, South Land would have lost.
Their main role was to pose a threat, to intimidate the South Land army, preventing them from acting rashly.
But now, the South Land army staged a feint, giving the illusion of a full-scale attack. Their real goal was to eliminate the Ghost Wolf Cavalry. Once the Ghost Wolf Cavalry was wiped out, the Kisia troops under Robin could only be confined to St. Sunday.
Without the Ghost Wolf Cavalry, even with Robin, they could not defend St. Sunday.
The enemy was too numerous, a total of six hundred and fifty thousand, while St. Sunday had less than a hundred thousand.
“Send the order down. There’s no need to pursue anymore. The people in their rear are all Kisian civilians,” Robin commanded.
If they could annihilate this two hundred thousand strong army, it could turn the tide.
However, the people in the back were Kisian civilians, not South Land people. These people formed a human wall, blocking the way. They wouldn’t flee, and the Kisian soldiers couldn’t kill them, effectively blocking them.
A flawless stratagem.
“General, please spare us. We were forced into this. The South Land people divided us into teams of seven. If anyone behaved suspiciously, all seven would be killed. Please spare us, we were forced,” the captured Kisian man cried.
Robin paid him no mind. “Aston Jones, this battle has shown me what it means to be the top general of South Land. You are powerful, at least stronger than Pierre Calder. Your strategy is as flawless as can be, impossible to break through.” Robin looked to the southeast, where the South Land main camp was located. Aston Jones was there.
“General, should we inform Dragon?” Dark Feather asked quietly from the side.
“No,” Robin shook his head, “It’s too late. By now, the Ghost Wolf Cavalry is probably already under Aston Jones’s encirclement. For the moment, we can only see what Black Wolf decides, seeing as he’s been with me for so long.”
Black Wolf, the vice commander of the Ghost Wolf Cavalry. When Robin wasn’t there and hadn’t appointed other generals, Black Wolf was the commander of the Ghost Wolf Cavalry. Black Wolf had also fought alongside Robin. But, he was also a reckless man. However, whether the Ghost Wolf Cavalry could escape from this battle depended on this reckless man.
In the central part of South Province, on a grassland, a team that looked like a black flood was rushing forward. They wore black armor and wolf-shaped cloaks and masks. It was clear that this was the Ghost Wolf Cavalry.
“Commander, five miles ahead lies the encirclement of the South Land army. If we can break through that defense line, we can head straight to the border. After breaking through the border, we can invade South Land,” a deputy reported around one particularly large set of black armor. Their faces were solemn, but also slightly excited.
Twenty minutes ago, they discovered that the South Land army had launched a full attack on St. Sunday. All of their forces were pressing forward, and St. Sunday was in imminent danger. So, they had embarked on a long-distance raid to complete their mission – to break the border and raid South Land. As long as they broke through the border, they could win this battle and their names would be known throughout the world. This would be a great achievement. That’s why they were slightly excited.
“Commander, something isn’t right. The enemy general, I’ve checked his background, his name is Aston Jones. He’s undefeated. How could someone like him make such a big mistake? I think there’s a trap ahead,” another deputy, feeling something was off, commented.
Before, he had wondered, where did South Land get the courage to besiege St. Sunday? After all, they were deployed outside, ready to break through South Border and reach Lord Whiteford. Were they not afraid that they would kill Lord Whiteford? Something didn’t add up.
“Perhaps this is what Aston Jones wants. We’re worried about both ends, and in the end, we hesitate too much, allowing the South Land army to invade St. Sunday. Then, they can withdraw troops to encircle us,” a deputy eager for merit suggested. He wasn’t entirely eager for merit, but was originally an aggressive sort.
Everyone thought this deputy’s suggestion made sense. In war, speed is of the essence, and they couldn’t delay for a moment. So, they had to make a decision. Finally, all eyes fell on the large black armor: “Commander, what should we do? We don’t have much time, we must make a decision quickly.”
Black Wolf’s face was solemn, he had never been this serious before. His decision now would determine the fate of the entire Ghost Wolf Cavalry, and even the direction of the entire war. But just then, a weak voice came from a bush ahead, “No need to consider anymore, you are already surrounded. With an army of 450, 000 in a ten-sided ambush, you can’t break out.”
