“Uncle.” Rosey Chambers looked at the man before her and took a step back, fear flickering in her eyes.
“Oh, my little niece is back, huh? Where’s the old woman? Is she back too? Hurry up and let her get up and sign this contract. Someone’s offering a high price for this house, and I need the money to get myself a wife.” The balding man waved the contract in his hand.
“Uncle, Grandma said she’s lived in this house her whole life and can’t sell it.” Rosey Chambers explained.
“Hmph. What’s the use of that? Can it bring in any money? It’s better to sell it now. Besides, I’m her son, and the reason I can’t find a wife is because she won’t sign this contract.” The bald man was frustrated.
He was already in his thirties and still unmarried. He had to sell the house to have enough money to get married. “Uncle, if you find a job, you’ll soon have enough money to get married,” Rosey Chambers gently advised.
Her uncle, ever since he was young, had been a rascal. He didn’t like working, only playing cards and loafing around. In his thirties, he still hadn’t held a proper job, relying on her grandmother’s support. He even bullied her grandmother. Now, he wanted to sell the house. She was truly angry, but no matter what, he was her uncle, so she spoke gently to him.
However, upon hearing her words, her uncle exploded, “Find a job? What kind of job? Am I the type to look for work? And since when is it your place to tell me what to do? If it were your father, that would be one thing, but right now, get out of my way. I’m going to make that old woman sign the papers.” She pulled Rosey Chambers aside and walked into the room.
But then, with a loud bang, someone kicked her uncle, sending him flying out. Robin then slowly emerged from the room, hands behind his back, his gaze full of contempt. It was he who had taken action just now.
“Rosey, how come there’s a man in your room?” Her uncle, named Zachary Chambers, lay on the ground, clutching his stomach, howling in pain. That kick had been anything but gentle.
“This… This is my friend…” Rosey Chambers explained hesitantly.
“Friend? I think he’s a rogue, huh? Rosey, you’ve grown up now, and you dare to collude with a rogue to take over your grandmother’s house. No wonder you’ve been trying to stop me. You wanted the house for yourself.” Zachary Chambers covered his stomach, speaking with a cold sneer.
“It’s not like that,” Rosey Chambers quickly shook her head. “I have no interest in Granny’s house.”
“Then get out of my way.” Zachary’s eyes were somewhat red. “Rosey Chambers, if you’re not conspiring with a rogue to take the old woman’s house, then step aside. Let me tell you, you’re not the old woman’s son, and you don’t have the right to inherit this house.” As he spoke, he became angrier, taking another step closer to Rosey Chambers.
But then, with another kick, he was sent flying again, crashing into the wall, his face contorting in pain. “A rogue?” Robin stepped out, his eyes filled with a cold light. Did he really think Robin had no temper at all? There weren’t many people in this world who would dare call him a rogue.
“Cough, cough.” Zachary Chambers felt pain in his chest, and after finally catching his breath, he looked at Robin in even more pain, taking two steps back. He glared at Rosey Chambers and threatened her viciously, “Rosey Chambers, I won’t let you off. You actually dared to collude with a rogue to snatch the house that belongs to me. You just wait.” With that, he scrambled away, not daring to stay any longer. He was afraid that another kick would be more than he could bear.
“I…” Rosey Chambers reached out, but ultimately did not chase after him. She sighed, “We really don’t want this house. Otherwise, why would my father move out?” Her emotions were complicated. If they really wanted the house, her father, as the eldest son of the family, would have sold it long ago. But they didn’t.
“Do you want me to deal with him?” Robin asked from the side.
“No, no matter what, he’s my uncle, my father’s younger brother,” Rosey Chambers quickly shook her head.
“Your heart is too soft, and you’ll suffer for it,” Robin looked at Rosey Chambers and said. This time, he didn’t scold her, as this was her family’s internal affair, and it wasn’t appropriate for him, an outsider, to interfere.
“Alright, I’ll cook for you. I’ll make you something delicious. I’ve known how to cook since I was nine, and I can make anything. Everyone at home loved my cooking.” Rosey Chambers narrowed her eyes, a twinkle passing through them. It was as if a crescent moon had emerged, touching his heart. She was such a treasure girl – gentle, well-behaved, and tender-hearted, capable of doing anything.
“Alright,” Robin nodded, then thought to himself, if only his darling daughter could be like this – well-behaved. Unfortunately, Leslie would most likely not grow up to be a gentle girl.
Subsequently, Rosey Chambers went out to buy groceries, while Robin stood on the balcony. At that moment, Jeff Reczek returned and reported to Robin, “Sir, the current situation in St. Sunday is very complicated. We have got the war party, the peace party, and some so-called gangs. Among them, a Fierce Tiger gang holds a significant influence in St. Sunday, but they belong to the peace party. Another force with the peace party is the Roach family, the largest family in St. Sunday and a dominant force in the southern region. Moreover, our people have discovered that the Roach family seems to be hiding a member of the Harding family.”
“The Harding family,” Robin said with a cold smile, hands behind his back. “The Harding family, the Fierce Tiger Gang, the Roach family of St. Sunday, and the peace party. What kind of peace party are they? Surrendering? Ha, the enemy has reached their doorstep, killed so many Kisia citizens, and they still want peace?”
His words were filled with murderous intent. Robin had served in the military for many years, killing countless enemies. What he hated the most were those who colluded with the enemy behind the scenes, those who only cared about their own interests and had no loyalty to their country or people.
If the enemy provided enough benefits, they wouldn’t hesitate to kill anyone.
“Indeed, our investigation shows that most of the people with the peace party are those who have surrendered,” Jeff Reczek gritted his teeth, his face full of anger.
The enemy had reached their doorstep, and they were still advocating for peace? They were nothing but a bunch of scum.
“By the way, sir, I’ve learned that there’s a huge ball tonight in St. Sunday, attended by most of the upper class, including the Roach family’s young master from St. Sunday. Shall we go?” Jeff Reczek asked.
“Go, of course we should go,” Robin replied, hands still behind his back, as he looked at the tall buildings outside, his eyes filled with interest. “The reason we came here is to attract attention. How can we draw people’s attention without killing a few?”
