Robin got out of the car, dressed in a black coat and wearing his usual fanged mask. He exuded a cold, violent aura, sending chills down the spines of those present and instilling fear in their hearts.
They knew that Mr. X had arrived.
“Mr. X, our boss invites you to join him upstairs,” said a sweet-looking woman in a white dress with a stunning figure. She had clearly been waiting for Robin.
“Hmm.” Robin followed her upstairs.
The gathering was held in a small courtyard. The second floor was an open space, overlooking the first floor, but the people below could not see those above. Upstairs, there was a chessboard-it wasn’t Go, nor was it conventional chess, but rather a game of military chess.
The game was already set up, with various pieces in place.
“Mr. X, hello,” said a handsome young man sitting in a chair. He looked like a university student-rosy lips, white teeth, and star-like eyes, seemingly innocent and non-threatening.
However, Robin could sense the bloodthirst in him-he had killed many people in the past.
“Dexter Newman?” Robin raised an eyebrow slightly.
“Yes, that’s me. But the whole ‘King of Hell’ thing is just a rumor that has spread. I’m actually a good person. Look at my face-you can tell what kind of person I am, right? Do you prefer Coke or Sprite?” Dexter Newman asked.
“No need.” Even Robin’s gaze was a bit strange now.
Dexter Newman rarely appeared in public, and there wasn’t much information about him on the market. Few people knew his face, let alone know that he was so handsome.
“Innocent and harmless.” These words suited him well.
If Robin hadn’t been through so many battles and could sense the hidden bloodthirst in Dexter Newman, he might have believed him to be truly innocent and harmless. But then again, how could the leader of Lamonia Security be so innocent and harmless?
He had killed many people.
“Do you know how to play military chess? I don’t know much about Go or conventional chess, but I have studied military chess. Would you like to give it a try?” Dexter Newman picked up a chess piece and gave it a flick.
“Sure.” Robin sat down.
“You go first.” Dexter Newman smiled, seemingly harmless, and let Robin make the first move.
“Alright.” Robin didn’t hesitate, and the game commenced with each of them taking turns.
Robin also knew how to play military chess.
With each piece falling into place, the game progressed. Eventually, Dexter Newman looked up and smiled, “Mr. X, what is your purpose in coming to Stillwater? It might not necessarily conflict with our interests, right?”
“Perhaps it does, perhaps it doesn’t.” Robin moved a chess piece and replied ambiguously.
“Haha, I’ll be honest with you: I feel a connection with you, and I wish we could become brothers. I don’t want to fight you. In fact, I can even help you deal with the three powers in Stillwater, as well as Walter Wraith. Afterwards, I can hand over Stillwater to you.”
“And the condition?”
“Let me control Stillwater during this time.” Dexter Newman narrowed his eyes slightly, and the motion of his hand holding a chess piece paused.
A dangerous atmosphere enveloped the chessboard.
He was waiting for Mr. X’s response.
As Robin moved another chess piece, he raised his dark eyes halfway and slowly said, “First, I don’t feel any connection with you. Second, tomorrow, I will destroy the so called three powers. Third, you lost this game – I captured your flag. Fourth, the people around you are of no use to me.”
A powerful aura emanated from Robin.
Dexter Newman was momentarily taken aback, but he soon recovered and patted his head with a smile, “Oh dear, I lost this game by accident. What a pity! Let’s play another round.”
As if nothing had happened, he suggested another game.
This Dexter Newman was indeed a capable person.
“Sure.” Robin moved another chess piece, and a new game began.
Meanwhile, at the dance party downstairs, Elise didn’t join the young people in dancing and partying. As a mother, she was taking care of Leslie on a sofa, offering her some fruit.
Miranda Levis accompanied them, close by their side.
“Miranda, please look after Leslie for a moment; I need to use the restroom,” Elise said, turning her head.
“Sure.”
As soon as Elise left, Miranda Levis immediately picked up Leslie and, in a single breath, kissed her: “Sweetie, have you missed me? Come, give me a kiss. One more kiss.”
“Uh… Auntie, you just kissed me. Now you want another?”
Leslie pouted her lips.
“What’s wrong? Can’t your auntie give you a kiss?”
Miranda Levis teased Leslie, making her burst into laughter like the tinkling of silver bells. They played joyfully together. Miranda Levis was the same age as Elise, but now Leslie was already six years old.
And yet, Miranda Levis didn’t even have a boyfriend.
So, Leslie instantly triggered Miranda Levis’s maternal instincts. She genuinely adored this little cutie – a true treasure.
However, as the two of them played, Leslie suddenly noticed someone behind Miranda Levis. She immediately jumped off Miranda and ran towards that person.
“Godfather!”
In a crisp, tender voice, Leslie called out.
Leslie threw herself onto Jeff Reczek, sticking to him like a marshmallow, affectionately calling him “godfather.”
Godfather?
But this left Miranda Levis, who had been watching her all along, completely baffled. Godfather? What was the deal with that? When had Leslie acquired a godfather, and Elise hadn’t told her?
And when she turned around, she became even more confused.
“Chair… Chairman… Chairman!”
Miranda Levis exclaimed with her eyes wide and her mouth agape.
Because Leslie’s godfather turned out to be none other than the robust and, at the moment, tender-faced fatherly Jeff Reczek, who held the title of Chairman of the Robin-Sophia Group.
He was also her boss.
“Miss Levis.”
Jeff Reczek glanced at Miranda Levis and then looked away.
Miranda Levis was indeed beautiful, the most beautiful woman of their public relations team, but in his eyes, women were mere obstacles. Only enemies could bring him the thrill of life and death.
Besides them, only children could evoke a fatherly gaze from him.
After playing for a while, Jeff Reczek put Leslie down and left. He had his own tasks to attend to. But now, Miranda Levis surrounded Leslie with her wide, curious eyes, asking, “Leslie, do you know that gentleman?”
“That’s Leslie’s godfather. He’s very good to Leslie,” Leslie said with a babyish tone.
“Really, a godfather.”
Now, Miranda Levis was sure; he was indeed her godfather. She just didn’t know when Elise had found herself a godfather.
Goodness gracious.
What a big shot.
Her godfather was the Chairman of the Robin-Sophia Group.
Just then, Elise emerged from the restroom. Miranda Levis stared at her fiercely: “Are we still best friends? You didn’t even tell me about something like this!”
Elise looked at Miranda Levis, a question mark slowly forming above her head.
