“Do you know who I am now?” Robin asked softly from his seat.
“Yes. I was wrong before, thinking that Primus was a troublemaking second-generation. In this regard, I admit that I was naive, and it was my mistake.” Lacey Willis admitted her mistake.
After all, she was indeed wrong in this matter. But she never could have imagined that the infamous Mr. X of Stillwater, the son-in-law Robin, was the renowned Primus of Kisia.
A god of the military!
The one who single-handedly defeated 300, 000 enemy soldiers.
“Lacey Willis, you are now under my command. Your direct instructor is Nick, a former top ten general of Eastern Kisia. He now works as a handyman at the Revitalization Bar,” Robin informed her.
The Revitalization Bar was now run by Dillon James and Emma.
“Yes, sir,” Lacey Willis obeyed, though she secretly wondered why these great figures liked to do things ordinary people would not. For example, the Primus had become a live-in son-in-law of a little known family. Who would believe that?
She couldn’t believe that this person, who had once been one of the top ten generals of Eastern Kisia, was now working as a handyman in a bar. If it hadn’t been for Robin’s own words, she would not have believed it. It was just too… bizarre.
“From now on, you can come here from time to time, and Nick will train you,” Robin told her.
“Can I move here?” Lacey Willis asked, staring straight at Robin with her big, captivating eyes, a pleading look in them.
Unlike others, Lacey Willis was not particularly afraid of Robin, the Primus of Kisia. Even if Robin did something terrible, she would dare to stand up and stop him. Due to their similar age, the two were quite familiar with each other and felt at ease in each other’s presence.
“You can, but stay away from me, after all, I am a married man,” Robin agreed. Having Lacey live there would mean she could help with the children and cooking, which was a good thing for him.
“Whatever,” Lacey Willis retorted, pursing her lips.
After that, she left to gather her belongings. “This girl… has a good temperament… However, whether she can take Pann’s place will depend on whether she can survive under Nick’s training,” Robin mused, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Nick, a man with the nickname “Darkboard Instructor,” was not someone to be taken lightly. To call him a devilish instructor would be an understatement. He was truly terrifying when it came to training. In the past, many had died under his tutelage.
At this moment, Mr. X had returned to Eleanor Manor and had accepted Dexter Newman’s invitation to attend a ball that evening. This event had caught the attention of the entire town of Stillwater. It was bound to be anything but ordinary.
Among the participants were the recently notorious Mr. X, and Dexter Newman, who had arrived in Stillwater three years prior. With only his fists, he had swept through the underworld, establishing Lamonia Security, a company with a fearsome reputation in Stillwater. This would be the first official meeting between the two leaders, and even before it began, there was a palpable tension in the air.
Sitting in her office, Elise was looking at the invitation that had just been delivered-a red card with straight edges, gold-patterned borders, and an air of luxury.
Suddenly, a phone call came through. “Hello, Miranda, what’s up?” Elise answered.
“Did you receive the invitation from Lamonia Security? I got one too. What are they up to? Are they planning to kill Mr. X right in front of us? He’s our boss, after all,” Miranda speculated, her tone becoming increasingly anxious.
After the previous incident, she knew that Mr. X was her boss’s boss, which made him her ultimate superior. Anything against Mr. X was unacceptable.
“By the way, Elise, are you going?” Miranda asked.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I? But first, I need to go home to change clothes. It’s a ball, after all. And I promised to bring Leslie along. I told her I’d spend the evening with her, and I can’t break my promise,” Elise said, thinking of her beloved daughter.
“Elise, have you lost your mind? You know this isn’t an ordinary ball tonight. And you still want to bring Leslie?” Miranda couldn’t believe her ears.
“Don’t worry, Mr. X will handle everything,” Elise reassured her.
“Why?” Miranda was puzzled.
“Um… I don’t know. I just have this inexplicable feeling that Mr. X will handle everything. And, well… Whenever I’m around Mr. X, I feel a strange sense of familiarity,” Elise admitted, pausing.
Ever since the last incident, she had been left with an odd feeling that she could trust Mr. X to take care of everything. It was entirely inexplicable. Moreover, she couldn’t shake the feeling that he was someone she knew very well.
“Have you ever met Mr. X?” Miranda asked again.
“I don’t think so… I mean, Mr. X did save me last time, but I was unconscious throughout, so I didn’t really see him. However, I can’t help but feel that his embrace was very familiar,” Elise said cautiously.
“You want to say again that the embrace felt like Robin’s? Elise, this is the fifth time you’ve told me about this, but really, really, I’m seriously telling you, it’s impossible. That’s Mr. X, a famous figure in Stillwater. How could he have any connection to that worthless Robin?” Miranda said directly.
“Miranda.”
Elise’s tone was somewhat dissatisfied.
“Alright, alright, not worthless, not worthless. I’m worthless, I’m worthless, alright? I’m really afraid of you, not allowing me to say a single bad word about that guy. Every time I say something, you act like you’re going to break off our friendship. I’m really scared of you.”
“Since you believe in Mr. X, just bring Leslie along.”
“Tonight, in front of Mr. X, I’ll call Robin, and let you see if these two are the same person. I really want to settle your thoughts. You don’t know what you’re thinking all day long. One Mr. X, one Robin, can these two people be the same person?”
Miranda chattered incessantly. Two days ago, Elise had realized something was off. She was a CEO with keen eyes. The most fatal clue was that familiar embrace. But after Miranda’s series of impossibilities, Elise had begun to doubt as well.
Could Mr. X be Robin?
No matter how she looked at it, it seemed impossible.
“Alright.”
So Elise agreed to Miranda’s plan. Tonight was an opportunity. In front of Mr. X, she would call Robin. It would be obvious whether the two were the same person or not.
Most likely they were not the same person.
