“You are indeed adorable, sometimes, although you behave like a mature, tough businesswoman.”
Robin chuckled. He arrived home a while ago. Seeing Elise having breakfast with a silly smile, he didn’t interrupt her but enjoyed watching her lovely behavior.
She always kept aloof, but her nature was exposed at this moment.
“Don’t worry. Enjoy your breakfast. I’m back to fetch something before going to work.”
Robin turned away.
He still had a job–a security guard in the Robin-Sophia Group.
“Alas…” Elise sighed again.
Gritting her teeth, she gazed at his back with hidden complaints. “Robin, why are you so good at cooking? I want to forget you, but somehow, I like you more.”
“I can’t let this go on!”
“Let me do it next time. I will ignore you next time. Let me fill my stomach now.”
Elise finished all the food in the pot.
Anyway, she was still a tough businesswoman, so she could behave willfully for a short while. As the founder of such a big organization, she was decisive and never changed her mind. Therefore, she believed forgetting Robin would benefit them both.
She didn’t want to suffer too much in five months.
Robin went to work in the afternoon. Priya told him Elise pulled herself together and went to Landview Inc., although she felt faint occasionally.
Robin was relieved.
“Time to go home, Robin,” the security guard leader reminded him while bypassing the office.
Other security guards were used to his attitude.
Last time, Robin asked the security guard leader to report Miranda for she had knocked off earlier. Soon, he received an abundant reward and was overjoyed.
After that, he kept an eye on Miranda and frequently reported her. He had just snitched her for the third time.
The security guard leader would have fawned over Robin if Robin hadn’t reminded him to behave as usual.
“Got it.”
Robin waved him goodbye. Since it was time to get off work, he left the building, found a bicycle, and rode it.
There was a long distance between the Robin-Sophia Group and Houry’s Villa. If he took a bus, there would be traffic during rush hour. Therefore, he preferred to ride a bike.
Robin enjoyed the gentle breeze.
While in the military, he only experienced blood, dead bodies, and thunderous roars. Even though there was a breeze, it was filled with strong blood smells.
He had dreamed of leading such a leisurely life.
“Ouch!” suddenly, an old man cried in pain in front of Robin’s bike.
The old man was in his sixties, wearing cotton clothes. Lying on the ground, he covered his thigh, looking painful.
He looked really as if he had been hit.
However, Robin’s bike didn’t hit him. The old man took the initiative to approach him and lay down.
“Old man, why didn’t you blackmail the wealthy? I only ride a bike. How can you blackmail me? Are you serious?”
Robin’s lips twitched.
Evidently, the old man wanted to blackmail him.
However, Robin looked poor and rode a bike. He didn’t expect to be blackmailed.
“All the drivers have installed DVRs in their cars as they’ve become smarter than before. It’s easier to blackmail people like you. No worries. I’m professional. Give me 2, 400 dollars. I won’t ask you for more,” the old man blinked and muttered to Robin secretly.
The next second, he burst into tears and wept, “Ouch! It hurts so much. You hit me. You want to kill me. My thigh… My back… Help!”
Since he looked old and pitiful, many passersby were attracted.
“Young man, how could you do this? The old man was crossing the street. Why didn’t you stop to let him pass? You rushed him directly. Did you want to kill him?”
“You disrespect the old. How can such a man like you appear in Stillwater? You are so unethical!”
“I’m a doctor. According to the old man’s injury, I can tell he was hurt badly. You must take care of him. Or you can’t leave. Be responsible!”
Several onlookers blamed Robin. One so-called doctor said he had checked the old man up, declared the old man was severely injured and insisted on asking Robin to take him to the hospital.
Instantly, most onlookers believed and echoed them.
“You are not only professional but also working with a team,” Robin remarked.
The old man pretended to be injured and pitiful. A few of his companions were the witnesses, and one declared himself a doctor to prove how severely the old man was injured.
It was a fully-prepared trap.
All the onlookers thought Robin had hit the old man and wished to leave without taking care of him. Immediately, they blocked Robin’s way.
Robin could tell the old man and his team had done this several times. They were too experienced.
Suddenly, a burst of laughter sounded, “Ha ha ha… Robin Bailey, it’s not your day today. How could you encounter such a matter after work.”
“Miranda?”
Robin looked in that direction and saw a woman in a plaid dress–Miranda. She had a gloating smile on her face.
“By the way, I filmed what happened just now to prove your innocence, but…”
Miranda broke off and shook her phone, a trace of slyness flashing through her eyes. “But I don’t want to give it to you. Stay here. I gotta go. Ha ha ha… I’ll share this funny story with Elise and laugh with her.”
She couldn’t help laughing at all. The anger repressed in her heart faded. In the past few weeks, she was targeted by someone. All her bonuses had almost been deduced, which depressed her a lot.
However, she had no idea who she had offended.
After watching Robin be framed, she felt pleased. In fact, she didn’t record how the old man blackmailed Robin but wanted to annoy Robin.
She had always looked down on Robin. Thinking a security guard had married her lovely bestie, Miranda felt sickened and reluctant.
Therefore, she was indeed joyful to see Robin be blackmailed.
However, she didn’t know she had made a mistake again.
Watching her leave, Robin didn’t boil up as he had decided to deduce her bonuses for the following years.
Moreover, he must resolve the current problem.
Suddenly, a woman in black sportswear with a curved shape hopped out of the crowd excitedly. She laughed, “Robin Bailey, I finally found your criminal evidence. I’ll send you to jail this time.”
