“Esther…”
Elise recognized what was on the cloth and wanted to struggle desperately again.
However, she failed, feeling dizzy.
When the man let go of her, she was too weak to keep her balance, falling to the ground.
“You!”
Elise glared at David in anger.
David drifted towards her and mocked, “Elise, go ahead to please Mr. Winfield for our family’s sake. As one of the Houry family, you should sacrifice for us. Right?”
Elise collapsed on the ground, too weak to utter a word. Gradually, she became unconscious.
She subconsciously fumbled for her phone.
“Honey…”
Elise wanted to call Robin but fainted before dialing the number.
“Humph! Want to win against me, huh?”
David snorted in disdain and flicked his hand at his bodyguards. “Take her to Mr. Andreas Winfield. This is the Houry family’s gift for him.”
“Yes, Mr. Houry.”
David’s men carried Elise into a car and left soon.
“Alas…” Gordon heaved a sigh while watching.
However, he didn’t regret it but felt delighted. “Elise, you are doing it for our family. Our family ancestors will appreciate your sacrifice.”
…
6:32 P. M.
Robin had picked up Leslie from school and prepared dinner. However, after waiting a long time, Elise still hadn’t shown up.
“What’s wrong? She knocks off at half past five usually. She should have returned.”
Robin checked the time. Elise was always punctual in returning home. However, she had been too late tonight. Robin wondered if anything had happened to her.
He pulled out his phone and dialed her number.
After a few beeps, the robotic voice told him Elise’s phone was powered off.
‘Powered off?’
Robin lifted an eyebrow with a bad hunch. Elise was a workaholic. For her company’s business, she seldom turned off her phone. Besides, she had gone to Houry House this time.
“What’s wrong, Dad?”
Leslie also didn’t eat. Sitting in the chair, she played with her fingers while waiting for her mother.
“Leslie, go ahead to eat. I need to go out.”
Robin rubbed her hair and left the house. A murderous look appeared in his eyes. Elise thought others in the Houry family would do nothing because they were blood-related.
However, Robin believed she was wrong this time.
Robin dialed a number. “Jeff?”
“Yes, General Bailey.”
“Pick me up now. ASAP.”
His icy voice made Jeff shiver. He could tell Robin was in anger.
“Yes, General Bailey,” Jeff answered immediately.
Half an hour later, Jeff arrived in a Land Rover SUV. He didn’t know where Robin would go, but the SUV ran the fastest.
Robin sat in the passenger’s seat. “Houry House.”
“Roger!”
Jeff stepped on the gas. The SUV roared away, heading for Houry House.
Meanwhile, Houry House was full of laughter. The Houry family was celebrating. Gordon was too old, so he had gone to bed.
David organized a party.
All kinds of wines, liquors, and delicious food were prepared in the living room. Holding a flute of champagne, David shook it and enjoyed the bubbles. “Listen, everyone. Your debts have been paid by Mr. Winfield. No worries. He promised he’ll be our backer from now on.”
“Mr. Winfield is the oldest son of the Winfield family, which is the most influential in Stillwater. Timothy Buosont cannot be comparable to him. With Mr. Winfield’s help, our family will improve and become influential pretty soon,” David yelled, stressing each syllable.
His relatives cheered. “David, you are awesome! You are the most suitable to be our next family master and Lands Corporation’s chairman of the board.”
“I can’t agree more. No one else fits this position.”
“I agree as well. David can lead us to upgrade. Our family will become wealthier and more powerful.”
All people at the party drank, feasted, laughed, and celebrated. They all forgot Elise subconsciously, although they knew what she would end up to.
However, they didn’t think it was their business.
They only care about themselves.
Besides, Elise was one of the Houry family, so they thought she should sacrifice herself for them.
Suddenly, a security guard rushed in, blood streaming down his forehead. “A car… rushed in…” he stammered in fear.
Although David drank some liquor, his reason still remained. Frowning, he asked, “What car?”
He was unhappy with the security guard as the latter reported about a car during the celebration.
“Bang!”
A vehicle suddenly broke in through a wall next to David. Bricks and stones were scattered everywhere.
With another loud bang, it landed in the center of the living room.
“What the heck!”
All people at the party were taken aback. The car rushed in from the yard, leaving a big hole in the wall.
They couldn’t believe their eyes.
“Look at the car plate. It’s a military vehicle,” someone exclaimed after noticing the car plate.
Others looked closer and saw steel boards plated around the Land Rover.
They could imagine the identity of the car and the people in it.
“Who is in it? I’m afraid our Houry family cannot afford to offend him. It’s a military car.”
“Who are they? It rushed into our house directly. Is the driver too lame? Do they make trouble purposely?”
“I guess they want to make trouble purposely.”
Others were worried, feeling people in the car wanted to make a fuss.
As their leader, David could tell he couldn’t afford to offend people in the car. Bowing, he gingerly approached and opened the door on the passenger’s side. “Nice to meet you, mister. You are in Houry House… Robin Bailey?”
He widened his eyes in disbelief after recognizing the man in the seat.
David planned to flatter the passenger first, as no one dared to offend people in the vehicle, wondering if anyone in the family had annoyed them. Therefore, he wanted to calm them down first.
After seeing Robin, he was shocked and couldn’t believe his eyes.
Robin hopped off. Unlike usual, he looked more arrogant and colder. After glancing around the living room, he asked in a steely tone, “Where’s my wife?”
“Robin Bailey, you good-for-nothing! Haha… I wonder who was in it.”
“Where did you borrow this military vehicle from. I was freaked out. You should know the military rules and regulations are strict. Aren’t you afraid to be punished?”
“What is this loser doing here? Borrowing money? You rely on your wife. Don’t be so shameless!”
Others also recognized Robin and started mocking him.
In their eyes, Robin was just a worthless live-in son-in-law.
David was bowing, but he stood upright, looking down his nose at Robin arrogantly in compassion. “Hey, you, little vagabond. Want to borrow some money? There are leftover bones in the kitchen. Want some?”
“Haha…” People laughed ironically. Some even fell about laughing.
However, they were too scared to utter a beep the next second. Robin reached out and pinched David’s neck, lifting him.
He squeezed a question between his teeth murderously, “Where. Is. My. Wife.”
