Chapter 98 Is It Right to Judge by Appearance

Book:The Warlord Is Back Published:2024-5-31

“A misunderstanding? All right. Forget about it.”
The mid-aged woman was kind-hearted. She looked at Simon and believed he wasn’t a bag guy. Flicking her hand, she dismissed the onlookers.
It was a misunderstanding, after all.
Seeing that, the onlookers turned around.
However, Robin sneered, “A misunderstanding? I don’t think so. He still has his phone, but mine is gone.”
“Your phone is gone?”
Others looked over at him.
“Young man, are you deliberately making trouble? He said it was a misunderstanding. What else do you want? Be generous,” the mid-aged woman preached at him.
Ignoring her, Robin said to Nina, “Nina, call my number.”
“OK.”
Nina pulled out her phone and dialed Robin’s number.
“Do you want to slander me? I don’t have your phone,” Simon snorted.
He was a criminal, so he was highly alert. Once Robin put his phone in his pocket, Simon would know immediately. Therefore, he was confident.
However, his confidence was gone when he heard the ringing tone.
‘How could it be possible?’
Simon froze. He heard the ringing tone from his pocket.
“Really in his pocket?”
The onlookers were shocked, wondering what was going on.
“Give me my phone back.”
Robin drifted towards Simon, reaching out a hand.
Simon wanted to refuse, but so many passengers were watching them. Under their gazes, he had to fumble for the other pocket and pull out a phone.
‘When did it get into my pocket?’
Simon looked baffled, as he hadn’t noticed it at all.
“Wait a minute. How do you prove it’s your phone?”
Holding the phone, Simon didn’t pass it to Robin but looked at him suspiciously. He still wanted to struggle.
“That’s easy.”
Robin directly grabbed the phone before Simon reacted. Under others’ gazes, he unlocked the screen.
“It proves it’s my phone.”
Robin flicked it to others and added, “This bastard stole my phone but slandered me for stealing his. You guys judged by his appearances and thought he was decent.”
“I don’t think so…”
The mid-aged woman was reluctant. She still believed Simon was decent based on his appearance.
However, the bus driver suddenly announced, “I went through the surveillance records earlier. That man wearing glasses wanted to harass the ponytail girl. This young man stopped him. Then the other man slandered him for stealing his phone.”
He kept silent all the time as he was checking the surveillance records.
Usually, it was difficult to identify things as his bus was fully packed. Fortunately, he saw the details.
Several passengers also checked the record. After seeing the truth, they returned to Robin and said apologetically, “This young man isn’t only a pickpocket but also a pervert.”
They all pointed at Simon.
Simon paled.
“Call the police. He’s a pervert and pickpocket. He also slandered an innocent man. If the bus driver didn’t check the surveillance record, it would be difficult to find the truth,” one onlooker suggested.
One immediately called the police.
Soon, several policemen rushed over and took Simon away. Usually, after a criminal was arrested on a bus, the passengers should be overjoyed. However, most of them kept silent this time, especially the mid-aged woman.
Earlier, they all believed Robin was indecent because Simon wore a suit and looked gentle. They immediately thought he was a good one.
Therefore, they thought Robin was a pickpocket and attacked him.
However, after the truth was found, they were taken aback as they’d wronged a good man. Instead, Simon was a criminal.
They made mistakes because they all judged Simon and Robin by appearance.
After the bus arrived at a stop, the mid-aged woman rushed out of the bus as she felt too ashamed to continue staying. Some other passengers also followed her.
“Robin, it turned out you wanted to protect me. I took your side and defended you. I’m glad you know how to appreciate my kindness.”
Nina looked up at Robin joyfully.
She didn’t know what had happened earlier and thought Robin had been slandered. It turned out Robin had done it to protect her. Therefore, she believed her brother-in-law wasn’t bad.
“Do you admit me to be your brother-in-law, then?”
Robin arched an eyebrow.
“Not yet. You still have a long way to go. Even if you force me to jump off the bus, I won’t admit it.”
“Another pervert behind you…”
“Help me, Robin! You are my brother-in-law…”
They argued with each other on the way. It took them an hour to arrive at the South Shore.
Since it was remote from downtown, it wasn’t as prosperous as the city center. There were only a few pedestrians on the street.
“No. 24, Mill Street.”
Nina checked the address on her phone and looked for the audition place with Robin.
“This area is indeed remote. If you are kidnapped, no one can help you.”
Robin looked around but failed to see anyone on the way. Occasionally, they saw a few buildings or stores.
It was quiet and undeveloped.
“I guess the rental here is cheap. The crew must be small. I’m in the third year of college, so the internship is essential. As long as I can gain some experience, it’s worth it.”
Nina didn’t complain.
She had a clear self-estimation as she was just nobody. Although she was confident in her acting skills, she needed to start from the entry level.
Hence, she didn’t mind making progress bit by bit.
“Here we go.”
Shortly after, they arrived at the address. It was a building with a unique decoration.
When they went upstairs, a young woman rushed down while grabbing her clothes. Her eyes were full of tears.
“What’s wrong? Was her audition a crying scene?”
Nina was startled.
During the auditions, the actors and actresses were required to cry sometimes, so it made sense.
“I don’t think so.”
Robin looked thoughtfully as he could tell that girl didn’t act to cry.
She did shed tears.
