“Is that you, Rio?”
Robin recognized the man was Rio, the bartender who had served him a cup of whisky earlier. However, Rio was severely wounded, blood oozing from all of them.
His face was black and blue.
“What happened?”
Dillon moved over, panting while coughing blood.
“A group of gangsters broke in and smashed our bar. They worked for Scar. They said it was a warning for us not to be against them anymore. Or he wouldn’t be as merciful as today,” Rio answered while spitting blood, looking miserable.
“How about others?”
Robin looked around but failed to see anyone else.
“They all ran away,” Rio said in disappointment.
He was the only one staying but couldn’t do anything. Dillon treated him well. When his family had financial trouble last time, Dillon lent him some money.
Although Rio couldn’t do anything for him, he decided to guard the bar. Hence, he was beaten up.
“By the way, Mr. James, the usurers came here earlier. They said Sofia had sold this bar for 540, 000 dollars in total. They requested us to move out by midnight.”
Suddenly, Rio was enlightened and sighed. He added, “Mr. James, did Scar also beat you up? You can’t stay here any longer. Why don’t you stay at my place? I rent a single room in my apartment for you.”
“Move into your place? Humph!”
Suddenly, three men entered the bar. All were gangsters. The leader was a man with dyed yellow hair looking like a punk.
“Good. We’re the earliest.”
The yellow hair glanced around and didn’t see anyone else, so he breathed a sigh of relief. They were nearest to the bar, so they could rush there right after receiving the news.
He felt they had moved fast.
“You should know why we are here. Give me the money. 1. 4 million dollars. All of them.”
Looking at Robin and others, the yellow-haired man pulled out a dagger.
Dillon was about to retort but coughed blood. However, he tried his best to tell Emma, “Take your money… Go…”
Then he looked over at Robin.
“Robin, give her the money. We don’t want to get her involved,” Dillon said.
“Ehn.”
Robin pulled out some cash from the box in his hands, put it into a bag, and passed it to Emma.
“I…”
Holding the bag, Emma knew there were 600, 000 dollars inside. She was supposed to leave immediately, and the two men would stop the gangsters.
Therefore, she would still get her money.
With the money, she could move to another town, restart her life, and do as many things as she wished.
However, when she turned around, she darted at Dillon, who was injured and covered with blood. Emma couldn’t lift her foot as she felt sorry for them.
She sighed, “Forget it. It’s not my day. I might not be decent, but I’m kind-hearted. If I go, I’m sure you won’t make it. Forget about the tip.”
She gave up the 600, 000 dollars because she worried more about Dillon’s life.
“I used to be a nurse. Let me deal with your wounds.”
Emma helped Dillon lie down and took care of his injuries.
“Were you a nurse before? Why did you quit your job?” Dillon asked in a weak tone.
“I wanted to be a good nurse, but the hospital I worked in before slandered me for stealing. They also canceled my nursing license. I came from a remote village. My three younger brothers rely on me. So I had to make some quick money.”
Emma sighed and added in an aggrieved tone, “This is my first time working in the nightclub. I thought I could make some money, but I met you guys. I don’t think I can return there. Scar must have blocked me.”
She felt upset, wondering why she was always unlucky.
“You don’t want to leave? That’s better.”
The yellow-haired man wanted to stop Emma. Now that she refused to leave, he was overjoyed, which meant he could get every dime of the 1. 4 million dollars.
It was a massive pie from the sky.
“Give it to me, brat. Or you cannot blame me for being rude.”
He pulled out a blade from his jacket and flicked it at others. The flashing silver light looked scary.
Ordinary people would definitely be horrified, but Robin had experienced a lot of ups and downs.
“Want this money?”
Robin patted the leather suitcase, stood upright, and said, “Come to get it yourself.”
“Fuck! You do have balls. However, you’ve provoked the wrong person. We three are pretty well-known fighters around this place. We’ve never lost.”
“Get him!” the yellow-haired man yelled.
He rushed to Robin with his gangsters, flicking his blade fiercely. “Go to Hell!”
They looked indeed violent.
However, before they got closer, Robin gave each of them a kick. In a blink, the yellow-haired man fell to the ground, rolling and moaning in pain.
The other two men hit the wall and blacked out. The yellow-haired man covered his belly while coughing blood, gazing at Robin in disbelief.
He was wondering how he had fallen to the ground.
Robin moved too fast for him to see how he did it.
The yellow-haired man realized he had made a huge mistake and provoked someone he couldn’t afford to offend.
The severe pain in his body made him feel like his bones were falling apart. Waves of pang traveled in his veins and stimulated his brain nerves.
However, he tried to stand up because he felt a murderous glance.
His hunch told him he would lose his life if he stayed there. To him, Robin wasn’t a pie from the sky anymore but a horrible demon.
“Go… I must go…” the yellow-haired man muttered, gritting his teeth.
He edged towards the door in difficulty and pain. However, at the entrance, a huge group of gangsters entered. One bald man saw him and asked, “Why did you come out? Where’s that brat? Did you get all his money?”
‘All his money my ass! I’m almost dying,’ the yellow-haired man inwardly retorted.
He realized that the young man wasn’t prey but an experienced hunter. He replied, “Nope. I had just arrived, but my belly ached. I’m going home. You go get him.”
Then he covered his belly and limped away.
He didn’t lie. His belly did hurt, but it was due to the beating just now.
“Moron! You’re earlier than us. But you go home because of such a silly reason? Without even a dime of the 1. 4 million dollars. Let me take the money then,” the bald man mocked.
He was overjoyed for his upcoming fortune.
