Chapter 90 Spread Your Cards

The dealer finished dealing the first card quickly. Without checking the trump card, Louis pushed additional 100, 000-dollar chips to the center of the table.
“In or out?” he asked Robin.
He looked as self-confident as in the last round. However, the situation was different as the dealer didn’t cut the deck.
She directly dealt the card instead.
Louis should have obtained a card with a high point if she cheated.
It was also part of the psychological strategy.
Louis’s confident look made others doubt if the dealer had cheated and if he had got a good card.
If Robin called down, he would definitely lose.
Once Robin had such doubt, he would lose the round again.
Everyone watched Robin, wondering what he would choose.
The nightclub was in pin-drop silence. All the onlookers gazed at Robin, holding their breath and wondering what he would do.
“In. 100, 000 dollars.”
He pushed 100, 000-dollar chips to the center of the table.
“You must win!”
Dillon’s heart was in his mouth, hoping Robin’s card would be better than Louis’. Otherwise, they would have less hope.
In that case, Robin would definitely die with him together.
“Raise?” the dealer asked Louis.
The latter smiled and pushed 40, 000-dollar chips. “Another 40, 000 dollars.”
Others were stunned, feeling he was indeed confident.
All wondered if the dealer had played some tricks.
Otherwise, they couldn’t find another explanation for the situation.
They were keyed up, gazing at Robin curiously, wondering if he would call again. After all, Louis looked indeed self-confident.
If Robin gave up now, he couldn’t lose too much.
However, he had already lost 100, 000 dollars.
Some onlookers wondered if he would be too reluctant to discard now.
That was why the five-card stud was exciting. No one could tell who was the winner until the last minute.
“In.”
Robin pushed another 40, 000 dollars.
The dealer looked at Louis again, and the latter didn’t continue raising anymore. He directly laid his card face up and put it before him.
It was a card of ten.
“Ten? The second lowest point. Higher than nine. Mr. Cook has failed this round. Alas…”
“Probably not.”
The onlookers gaped at his card. The card of nine was the lowest point, and ten was the second lowest. Therefore, Louis still wasn’t lucky this round.
Robin laid his card face up, and it was nine.
“Holy shit! Seen that? He got a card of nine, the lowest point. Mr. Cook is one point higher. Mr. Cook won. He won this round again.”
“How lucky Mr. Cook is!”
“It might not be because he’s lucky only, but also…”
There was a mighty uproar among the onlookers. They had never expected Robin to get a card of nine and Louis to get a card of ten. Just a one-point difference.
How coincident!
Most of them wondered if the dealer had cheated.
“Lost again?” Emma sighed.
Evidently, Robin would never win after losing two rounds.
Louis lay prone on the piled chips and asked triumphantly, “You still have 200, 000 dollars. Continue?”
Robin didn’t chip in for the first round, so he lost 60, 000 dollars.
In the second round, he chipped in but lost 140, 000 dollars.
Therefore, he only had half of the 400, 000 dollars left.
Also, there were only 15 minutes left.
Louis didn’t think Robin could turn the tables in 15 minutes. Even if he didn’t chip in, he could still win against Robin.
“Another round?” the dealer asked them.
After they agreed, she started dealing.
“Dare to bet big?”
Without checking his card this time, Robin pushed 100, 000 dollars to the center of the table.
“100, 000 dollars? He’s fighting back.”
“It’s a critical round to determine who will win this game.”
“Chip in, Mr. Cook!” the onlookers roared.
However, much to their surprise, Louis checked on his card and shook his head. “Out.”
The onlookers were startled, watching the scene blankly.
They wondered whether it was because he got a bad card or he acted to fool Robin.
After all, the strategies could be flexible and weird.
None of the onlookers could read Louis’ mind. However, they knew they would be freaked out if they were Robin.
The game was full of ups and downs, which was too life-threatening for them.
Therefore, the first game ended. The dealer put away the cards and tossed them into the paper shredder aside.
Soon, the cards were gone.
The dealer pulled out a new pack of cards and opened it. After shuffling them, she looked at Robin and Louis to ask if she could start dealing.
“Please.”
The two men nodded in unison.
The second game was more impenetrable to the onlookers. Once, Louis was aggressive and staked 100, 000 dollars. The next second, he chose not to chip in and was reserved. Therefore, no one could read his mind.
Therefore, Robin lost another 80, 000 dollars in the second game. Only 220, 000 dollars. Louis, however, had 580, 000 dollars.
Robin’s situation was terrible, and the ending was evident.
He would definitely lose.
Unless he would be fortunate in the end. Or he would have no chance to turn the tables.
Leaning against Emma, Dillon clenched his hands tightly. His fingernails dug into his flesh, but he didn’t feel the pain while watching the scene tensely.
“Three minutes left. The last game,” the dealer reminded them.
Then she quickly dealt the cards. Louis gingerly picked up the last card, looking overjoyed.
He didn’t think he needed to act in the last round. Robin had lost too much money, so his cards were all bad.
Even though Louis had a card of nine, he believed he would win against Robin.
Others gazed at Robin’s four cards, which were too bad. Although they didn’t know his last one, they believed he would definitely lose.
However, Robin pushed all his remaining chips to the center of the table. “Show hand!”
He gritted his teeth. Seemingly, he had used up all his luck on this round to turn the tables.
“Humph! You are just giving dying kicks,” Louis sneered. He was confident that Robin had been defeated by him.
“Mr. Cook, please spread your card,” the dealer reminded him.
Louis needed to show his card according to the sequence. As she expected, this gambling game was ending.
