‘Set me up?’
Lacey was taken aback. Only then did she realize that her expression exposed her identity after Robin played a trick.
She was overconfident in herself, thinking Robin was just a dandy. Therefore, she wasn’t alert and easily let Robin see through her.
“You are over-self-confident. If I were a criminal, you would have been killed.”
Robin stretched and added, “However, I didn’t lie to you. I’m going to buy the donuts for my daughter. Please excuse me.”
He turned away.
After Lacey was floored, Robin didn’t think she would have the guts to stalk him again.
However, Lacey watched him leave, her eyes glittering with instant interest. “You are right. I was too self-confident. However, I’m assured of my fighting skills. After all, I won first prize in all kinds of competitions. Robin Bailey, you are just a live-in son-in-law of the Houry family. How could you manage to make Lucas Corporation go bankrupt? You are also cautious.”
“What’s your purpose? Why are you hiding in Stillwater? No matter your intentions, I’m getting interested in you more.”

Fighting spirit flashed through her eyes.

After buying the donuts, Robin picked Leslie up from the kindergarten. When they arrived at Houry’s Villa, Robin saw an old man with a bent back. It was Gordon walking with his luxurious walking stick.
“Mr. Houry, why are you here?” Robin walked to him and asked.
“Did you call me Mr. Houry? According to the family relationships, I’m your grandfather.”
“Didn’t you ask me not to call you Grandpa? If I didn’t call you Mr. Houry, would you prefer me to call you old man?”
Robin shrugged. His words reminded Gordon that he once scolded Robin after Robin called him Grandpa.
Gordon flicked his hand and said, “Forget it.”
Then he walked into the house. This time, he came to see Elise alone.
As a matter of act, he was reluctant to come here. As the Houry family’s current master, he was powerful and proud, with high self-esteem. However, David and Snowy failed to convince Elise to return to work. Besides, Elise mentioned letting him come over in person.
Besides, he had received the court summons of the Robin-Sophia Group’s lawsuit. Gordon had to compromise.
He felt embarrassed to apologize to her granddaughter, whom he had never favored. However, this was the only thing he could do currently.
Lands Corporation would go bankrupt soon.

Studying Gordon’s expression, Robin shook his head. In his opinion, Gordon deserved it. Men and women were born equal, but Gordon treasured boys more than girls.
Thinking of that, Robin lifted Leslie and pecked her cheek. “I love my daughter the most,” he remarked.
When Robin entered the living room, he saw Gordon talking to Elise. “It was all my fault, Elise. I underestimated you. Please return to work in Lands Corporation. I will still keep your original position. No one can replace you.”
“I don’t mind going back, Grandpa, but you must keep your word. Return the chairman’s position to me.”
Elise had mixed feelings.
She hadn’t expected Gordon to still hang on to the chairman of the board even at this critical moment. He had no intention of letting her become the chairwoman and wanted to keep the position for his favorite David.
They were both Gordon’s biological grandchildren, but he played favorites, which annoyed Elise.
“Elise, you are a girl, not suitable for the position of chairman,” Gordon replied, looking unwilling.
“Lands Corporation was founded by me,” Elise said determinedly, staring at him.
“Well…”
Gordon couldn’t find another excuse. Earlier, he emphasized her gender, but Elise was the founder of Lands Corporation, which meant she was competent.
Suddenly, Gordon looked at Rodney. “Help me persuade your daughter, Rodney.”
“Father, I’m sorry, but I’m on Elise’s side this time. You guys have gone too far last time.”
Rodney shook his head.
He was Gordon’s oldest son and was supposed to be one of the most critical people in the Houry family. However, he only had two daughters, and Gordon was unhappy. After the incident seven years ago, he kicked Rodney and his family out of their house.
The previous day, he verbally abused Rodney and Elise and kicked him out of the family, no matter how hard Rodney begged him.

Rodney beamed at her.

He felt sorry for Elise.
Gordon looked at them, his heart sinking. Not long ago, he kicked them away in disdain and didn’t expect the current situation to happen at all. In fact, the last thing he wanted was to let Elise return to Lands Corporation.
However, the company would go to the dogs if Elise didn’t go back.
Gordon was in a dilemma.

“You will not delay again this time, will you?”
Elise looked at him in suspicion.
“Of course. You have my word. I’ll announce you are the chairwoman in the general meeting of shareholders.”
With those words, Gordon left the house with mixed feelings. He refused to let Elise be the chairwoman of the board all the time. However, he failed after trying so many means.
He had to let Elise be the chairwoman.
However, he still had Plan B. Elise could become the chairwoman of the board, but it didn’t mean she would operate the company well.
Most employees in Lands Corporation were from the Houry family.

Robin waved him goodbye.
Gordon glared at him. “Humph!”
For some reason, he disliked Robin a lot. After Robin came back to Stillwater, the Houry family became unlucky indeed.
