Aurora couldn’t keep the excitement brewing inside of her, she was jumping up and down doing her work, waiting for the sky to settle down.
Checking the sky constantly wanting to know the changes in the sky since she’s conversant with when darkness overthrows the light
Likewise, she was oblivious to the eyes other maids gave her as she continued humming to a song.
It was a song she loved singing so much back then in Gigal whenever her step-sister started with their problems.
She will sing and tears will start oozing down her eyes, hoping to meet a knight that will take her away from her father’s castle someday. Until her father trained her as an assassin, then she started leaving the palace, having fun outside their palace.
This is the song she loves singing and imagines signing to her man someday;
There’s a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place was brighter than tomorrow.
And if you’ll find there’s no need to cry
In this place, you’ll feel there’s no hurt or sorrow
There are ways to get there
If you care for the living
make a little space
make a better place.
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For maids and the entire human race.
People are dying
If you care enough for the living
make a better place for you and me.
If you want to know why
There’s love that cannot lie
Love is strong
It only cares about our joyful giving
If we try, we shall see
In this bliss, we cannot feel
Fear or dread, we stop existing and start living
Then it feels that it is always
loves enough for us to grow
make a better world
So make a better world.
Heal the world
make it a better place
For you and the entire human race.
People are dying
If you care enough for the living
to make a better place for you and for.
She was singing emotionally, smiling as if she had finally met the knight that will take her away from the castle.
All the maids with her were gawking at her face, wondering what was making her this happy.
Moreover, they were at the stream located at the back of the palace washing clothes, the dirty clothes of the royals living inside the palace. Almost all of them felt exhausted already, hoping magic will happen, and cleaned all the remaining clothes on the rock.
But Aurora couldn’t feel any tiredness, rather she was washing, hitting the clothes on the rock with a stick, cleaning faster than the others.
One of the servants beside her was unable to restrain herself, she lifted her head and patted her on the back, wondering what was making her this energetic.
Sometimes they found it hard to believe that Aurora was from a humble home like theirs because most of the house chores, she found difficult to do.
“Did you win a jackpot?” The maid, beside her, brought her out from her excitedly.
Her eyes widened, and shyness brushed her cheeks, she wasn’t aware that the happiness in her was oblivious to them.
“No” She bits her lowered lips, feigning ignorance like she wasn’t aware of what she was saying.
“I don’t think so, you seemed happy and energetic today” The maid uttered.
“She is happy because she had sent Mira and Tira to the farm, she made the king believe her lies; they were demoted to the maids on the farm” A lady coming from afar cut in before Aurora could reply, making all the maids washing raised their heads.
Their questioning gazes rested on Aurora, demanding an answer as the maid walked closer to them, Aurora looked startled, seeing them glaring at her.
She didn’t see this coming when the king passed judgment on them, she wondered what she was going to say that will make them believe, it was not her intention.
The last thing she needed was to make the maids loathe her as before, they had always hated her even before the late king’s death, but the late king’s death deepens the hatred.
But recently, they have started treating her differently, without referring to her as a killer whenever they were asked to work together if she made any mistake.
Her heart hammered against her chest in fear, she turned, glancing at the entrance to sight the person who just announced her death judgment, her face hardened and an icy eye glaring at Shastina moving closer to them.
She clenched her fist in anger, knowing it was her, she wouldn’t have believed she would treat her this way.
“This is the price for using my name as the masked girl” Shastina whispered to an angry Aurora, and she patted her back as she closed the gap between them.
The excitement on Aurora was no longer on her face, rather it was filled with a deadly gaze.
“Aurora, is Shastina saying the truth or lying!” They chorused, looking as if they wanted to skin her alive.
“I’m sorry, it wasn’t my intention to….” She stumbled in the middle of the sentences, then she bit her lowered lips and opened her mouth to continue, but before she could produce a word, Shastina hijacked the medium.
“Calm down, it wasn’t Aurora’s fault, the king passed a decree on them because of their wicked acts in the Palace, please keep in mind how Mira used to oppress every one of us here.
It’s not Aurora’s fault, but entirely their fault” She said and Aurora’s mouth parted in awe.
She wondered the kind of person Shastina was, where she stood she could see how she was winking in her direction.
The remaining maids hissed and returned to their work, but they shouted at Shastina for distracting them.
“Please leave us alone, we want to finish with our work, we are feeling hungry” They yelled at Shastina, splashing water on her body, wanting her to leave them.
But before she leaves, she grabbed Aurora into a side where they can hardly gawk, and she whispered into her ears.
“Don’t you dare think you can tell the kin about me, if you do, your entire family will pay for it, I will make sure it happens” She said in a threatened tone, moved her hands, wanting to stroke her cheeks, but before she could, Aurora grabbed her two hands and held firmly, she pinned down, glaring at her ferociously.
“I remain your Princess, and you don’t talk to me in that manner, when next this matter, I will make sure you won’t be able to talk for two days” She dropped her angrily and walked back to the stream.
“I won’t give her the satisfaction of destroying my joy” she muttered as she walked back, she resumed humming to rhythms, waiting patiently for the sky to go down.
