James’ POV
The call from Davis did nothing but even geoghtemt fear, I could barely imagine what Cassie would be going through in his hands right now.
I turned to look at Alpha Kayden and Samantha, Amelia was their only way of getting Davis but they definitely would not sacrifice Cassie for that, right?
“I… I will excuse myself.” I mumbled and walked out of the place.
I walked into Cassie’s room and sat on the bed, inhaling her sweet scent as tears slowly blinded my vision. I remembered her words the previous day, she had told me she was scared and I had told her that I would protect her from every harm.
A tear slid down and I quickly wiped it off.
“Hell! I need to get Cassie back.” I mumbled to myself.
“She is going to be fine, Alpha Kayden would never be that cruel.” Kim replied me and I rubbed my palms together.
“I hope so Kim, I really do hope so.” I lowered my head and my gaze to the floor.
“Cassie, Cassie.” I mumbled repeatedly.
I dug my hands into my pockets and my fingers came in contact with the gold chain, I pulled it out of my pockets and watched it dangle in front of me.
“Cassie, you have to stay strong for me.” I mumbled and kissed the necklace.
I wondered what decision Alpha Kayden and Samantha were taking at the moment but something was sure for me, no matter what decision was being taken, I would not let go of Cassie, I would make sure I get her out of the hands of that monster.
“Davis! You are a monster!! And I would kill your own mate with my bare hands if anything happens to Cassie!” I seethed angrily.
“He would not harm Cassie, Cassie is his only way of getting back Amelia, he would not want to get rid of that only way.” Kim said and even though it very well made a whole lot of sense, It still did not make me feel super relaxed.
There was just 24 hours, I could picture the image of Cassie crying and pleading, screaming for help while Davis tortured her or simply ignored her pleadings.
I closed my eyes tight and more drops of tears slid down my eyes.
Samantha’s POV
“What are we going to do? We can not let go of Cassie, we just can’t!” I said to Kayden who only remained static.
He did not move nor did he say a word and it made me wonder if he was actually thinking of abandoning and sacrificing Cassie just to get to Davis.
“Kayden, say something to me.”
“Calm down Mantha, let me have some time on my own to think.”
“Sure, think, think all you can but note that there is just 24 hours!” I replied him, the sadness and frustration evident in my time.
Cassie was my best friend, I remembered how much she had helped me when I first found myself in this mansion, how much she took it upon herself to make sure I was out of harm and how much she took beatings and got into troubles simply because she was trying to save me or help me out.

It would be a great act of betrayal to let good Cassie and I would not be a betrayal!
“Can Kayden just say something already?! I am getting really anxious.” Cara said to me, it was like the first time she would be yelling in an issue that concerned Kayden in months.
“I also do not understand why he is being quiet! Time is moving for Chrissake!”
“Kayden, can you just tell me what you are thinking about, it has been almost an hour already, we have 23 hours more!”
“Don’t telk me you are planning on letting go of Cassie.”
“Of course not Mantha! I understand how important Cassie is too, she is your best friend, she is James’ love and she has helped me in taking care of you several times also, there is no way I am letting go of her.”
“Thank goodness! Can you mind link with Davis now then? Like right now….. So he can stop whatever he is planning on doing to poor Cassie.”
“Not yet Mantha, this deal…. Amelia for Cassie, it might seem fair enough for anyone who analyses things but when that deal is coming from Davis, I cannot help but be skeptic.” he replied and I halted for a moment.
“What do you mean?”
“I really have no idea too but there is just this feeling that things won’t be as easy as just exchanging them.”
“What do you think we should do then?”
“Our hands are tied in this situation, there’s nothing we can really do than follow his words…. Heck! I really can’t believe that I have to even bend to Davis words now!” He groaned and I placed my hands over his shoulder.
“I know it must be hard for you, it is not really befitting of your status, I know that too but for friends, for those we love, we take a whole lot of humiliating steps but those steps are what makes us heroes. Take a look at you Kay, you are my hero, you are the hero of the entire pack, by the time you are actually done with this, you would become a bigger hero in the eyes of James and Cassie, they would forever be grateful to you for this.”
“Fine, you would always get a way to compel me into doing something.” he replied me.
“Thanks.” I managed to grin at him.
I stood on my toes and kissed his lips gently but Kayden deepened the kiss like he had been sex starved, well it has been a few days since we actually had sex. I kissed him back hard and long, my own hands tangling with his soft and silky hair.
His hands roamed my body, exploring every inch and feeling every delicate curves. He broke the kiss and stared at me with lust filled eyes before speaking in a low tone.
“This body is meant to be worshipped.”
With those words, he went lower and kissed my neck and collar bones, his hands were slowly raising up my gown when a knock came on the door.
Kayden groaned and even I had to roll my eyes.
“Who the heck is there?!” Kayden growled.
“It…. it’s James.” James voice came from the other side.
“In.” Kayden responded, the frown on his face easing just a little bit when he heard that it was James.
“I…. I really do want to know what decision Alpha Kayden has made based on the call from Davis.”
“We are not betrayers and I, Alpha Kayden is one who cherishes the lives of those who are loyal to me. Amelia will be let out in exchange for Cassie.”
