Cassie’s POV
“Where are you off to?” Samantha asked me as I walked towards the door.
“Nowhere particularly, just going to take a walk.” I replied her with a smile
“Do you want me to come along?” She asked and I shook my head to indicate no.
“There is no need really. I just want to have some quiet time to myself. When I am back in about an hour, we can talk, I am sorry I have to decline your offer.”
“It is okay Cassie, I will be waiting for you to be back but you really need to be careful out there, it might not be really safe.” she said to me and I nodded, forcing a small smile out of my lips.
I walked out of the mansion and began to walk quite aimlessly. I did not stop for a moment but with my slow steps, I could bet that I had not gone very far.
I only had one thought on my mind, the thoughts of I and James, I wondered if this battle in the way was going to make any differences in our lives or of according to him, nothing was going to change and after this we would love happily.
I had never had such bad premonitions before, there was just something telling me repeatedly that things were not going to go as smooth as James was picturing that it would go.
I looked up from the floor that I was gazing at and discovered that I had gone really far away from the mansion, I looked around the place and shook my head slowly.
I raised my wrist up and checked the time, I had been walking for over an hour and it was getting late already.
“I would better find my way back home.” I mumbled and turned to start walking away.
As I walked, the day grew darker gradually and the place more and more deserted.
I felt an eeerie and creepy feeling and halted for a moment, I looked around the place but there was nothing.
I continued walking but this time around, my steps were much more faster and quicker until I inhaled a really bad stench, it was the worst thing I had ever smelt.
I was about to look backwards to see what or who was causing this horrible stench when I felt something hard hit me. I did not have time to see what hit me, I fell to the floor slowly and my eyes dimmed.
But before my eyes closed up, I saw someone, one that I could recognize clearly, Beta Davis.
James POV
I knocked on Cassie’s room but there was no response, I knocked once more but it was still the same. I decided to knock on her door once more to ascertain that she was not naked or dressing up cause this time the control I had to get on myself might not really come in handy.
“Cassie.” I called as I knocked on her door the final time but there was still no reply from inside of the room.
“Naked or not, dressing up or not, I am coming in.” I said and pushed open the door.
I stepped into the room but she was not in the main room. I walked over to the bathroom and knocked on the door but there was still yet no response so I pushed open the door and walked in it was empty too, I checked the entire room and it was totally empty.
“Maybe she is out in the garden or taking a stroll.” Kim said to me and I agreed that that had to be what was happening.
I walked out of her room and began to search for her in the garden that was our favorite, it was where we spent time together most times but she was not there also.
I decided to search for her elsewhere but it was all futile.
“James.” I heard Samantha’s voice and turned to see her.
“Who or what are you searching for?” Samantha asked me.
“Cassie, I can not find her anywhere, she seemed to have… To have just disappeared out of this place.”
“She went out actually, she wanted to go for a quick stroll, I actually wanted to follow her but she insisted that what she needed most was time to herself so I let her be but also she told me she would be back in less than an hour, but it’s been about two hours now.” Samantha said to me and I ran my hands through my hair.
“She is not back yet.” I mumbled, bringing out my phone from my pockets.
I dialed her contact but it was switched off already.
“It is switched off.” I mumbled.
“I do not think that she was with her phone when she went out, it should be in her room, I think. Her phone was not with her when she left.” Samantha said to me and I sprinted to her room and there was the phone laying on the bed there.
I picked up the phone and threw my head backwards.
“How the heck am I supposed to be at peace when I have no idea where Cassie is at the moment.” I mumbled to myself.
I took her phone with me and headed back downstairs where Samantha was still waiting for me.
“The phone… It is really in there.” I said to her.
“Let’s just calm down, maybe she decided to branch somewhere, if she does not get back in the next one hour, the men can go out to search for her.” Samantha suggested and it was a great idea anyways but then it wasn’t super great, judging by the fact that I was impatient.
“I will wait.” I mumbled to her and she nodded.
“I will go in to inform Kayden about this.” she said and walked upstairs.
I sighed softly and played with my fingers nervously. Perhaps if this had happened under normal circumstances, I would not be so worried but with what is presently going on, I just can not keep calm.
An hour later
I was out with other men, searching for Cassie worriedly. My fear was heightening with each and every passing moment, the fact that we had been totally unable to find her around the place was scary, there was no good news from any part and I feared for her, I could only hope and pray that she is not in danger and not in the hands of Davis also.
The thought of Davis made my hands colder and my fear increase
I was about to walk past when a soft glitter attracted me, I walked over to the place and crouched beside it, recognizing the accessory immediately.
“This is…. This is the necklace I got for Cassie.”
