Kayden’s POV
The worried look on my face gave way for a happy smile as soon as I had heard those words from Samantha.
“Really? Come over here, you are such a darling.” I said to her, tearing the ropes apart.
She moved into my arms once more and we stood in that crouched position, hugging.
I did not want to ask her what she recalled right away, I knew how hard it must have been for her to recall in such little time.
“Listen Kayden, I was right all along.” Samantha said to me, pulling back from the hug.
“I knew you were going to be right.”
“How about we go into the car?” I asked her and she nodded with that smile still on her face.
She was happy, it was clear. We got into the car and I handed her a bottle of water.
She collected it from me and gulped it down.
“Kayden.” she called with excitement dripping from her voice.
“She really is excited to let you know about all of it.” Jay butted in.
“Yeah, Mantha.”
“That day, I was on my way back from the hospital when I saw James picking a call, I was tempted to follow him and find out if my speculations are really true and that I did but then when I got to a spot, I lost him and instead some men attacked me, that was when I first mind linked with you. And then I was hit by someone and when I woke up, I woke up in that place.” she started, pointing at the abandoned place with disgust.
“When I woke up, I did not open my eyes yet but I could hear the both of them clearly, Lauren and definitely Davis.”
“What did they say?”
“They did not say a whole lot of words. Nothing directly concerning the issue of slavery, maybe they said things about that before I woke up that day, I have no idea.”
“What did they say then?”
“Your… your first mate.”
“Diane…”
“Yes Diane, Lauren knew about Diane and she… she was the one who killed Diane.” she said to me and I felt my head go off for a moment.
“That bitch! That bitch was the one who actually killed Diane!” I seethed and Jay growled loudly in me.
“I… I know I should not have said that.”
“Mantha.” I managed to breath out as the images of Diane’s dead body flashed through my mind once more, for years I had sought for the killer, not knowing that the killer is someone by my side, Lauren.
“Are… Are you furious right now?” She asked me and I shook my head to indicate no even though my face and expression said the exact opposite.
I was freaking mad! But I could not let Mantha see another side of me, I did not want her panicking.
“I am fine Mantha, I am totally fine. I just find it super hard to know that Lauren killed Diane!”
“But Davis did not really say much or maybe I didn’t hear much?”
“The fact that he dared to kidnap you is enough reason to get him killed! I am going to eliminate everyone who tries to harm you! I swear I would!” I swore and placed my arms in the steering wheels.
“Calm down Kayden.” Mantha said and I nodded.
I grabbed my phone and sent a message to every head and every Alpha notifying them of the fact that Davis was wanted and anyone found keeping him or hiding him would not be spared.
“The next person I need to get down now is Lauren!”
Davis POV
I walked into the mansion and bumped into James.
“Beta Davis.”
“James, where is Alpha Kayden?” I asked him.
“Alpha Kayden… he went out with Samantha.”
“Do you know their precise location?”
“You can choose to ask Alpha Kayden himself, why ask me?” He asked and I furrowed my brows.
“When did such disrespect begin?!”
“I apologise Beta Davis but I really do have no idea where they went to. Permit me to leave Beta” he requested and before I could even wave him off, he walked away.
I turned back and stared at his retreating figure for a while. For this rude act from James and constant ignoring from Alpha Kayden himself, it is quite obvious that I have almost been found out and there is only a tiny string holding my secrets as secrets.
I shook off James attitude and set my mind once more on what was my main goal here. I was going to find a way to set Amelia free and get her out of this place. I do not really care what it is going to take me but that, I must do.
I walked around the place, trying to figure out where she was being kept. I did not want to ask anyone where she was being kept, that would arouse suspicions and that was what I was trying to stay away from even though it seems more like I am failing in that aspect currently.
I searched around the mansion till I finally got to the dark dungeons of the mansion, it was the last place I was going to check because I really did not think there would be anyone in there, it was used only once in a while and only hardened criminals were in there, my Amelia was not an hardened criminal so she could not be kept in there but haven, checked all other places, that was the only last option I had.
I got there and saw three guards standing guard outside if the dungeon, a sign that there was actually someone in there.
“Hand over the keys to me.” I requested from one of them and he quickly gave it to me, I was still the beta anyways.
I took the keys and unlocked the door, I pushed open the hard creaking door and a wave of terribly bad smell hit me, the place stunk, it was particularly a place of horrors.
I heard a whimpering noise and my eyes surveyed the dark dungeon.
“Amelia?!” I called out.
“Davis… Is that you Davis?” Her voice sounded from inside the dark room.
“It’s me Davis.” I replied her and ran into the darkness.
My eyes got used to the darkness and I found her there, there was my own mate. I pulled her into my arms as she hugged me tightly.
“This… This place is horrible.” she whimpered.
“It’s okay…. it’s okay now. I am going to take you out of this place.” I said to her and she nodded repeatedly.
I held her hands in mine and led her out of the dungeon.
“Be… beta Davis, you are taking away the captive?”
“You want to stop me?”
“I dare not.” the guard replied and I walked away, holding Amelia’s hands tightly.
“I… I really should not have come here.” she mumbled as I stopped her.
“How did you switch your face into that of another person?” I asked her.
“It’s just a god-damned mask.” she replied and pulled at the edges hard while I stepped back to watch in awe as she pulled it off her face.
“Incredible!” I heard a deep voice.
I turned to see, James.
