The next day
Kayden’s POV
I woke up with a beep on my phone, it was a message, I quickly grabbed my phone to prevent the noise from waking Mantha up, I did not want to disturb her and my baby.
I opened the message, it was a message from Davis reporting to me that nothing of interest had been found the whole yesterday.
I sighed softly and got out of bed. I walked towards the study table and sat down before it, doing nothing exactly.
I turned backwards to see Mantha sleeping peacefully, her pretty face was still in complete view with her dark hair scattered over her pretty face.
I turned to face front and my eyes caught sight of something that was definitely of huge interest to me, it was the document that Mantha had been working on the previous day and she had refused to let me take a look.
“Isn’t it wrong to peek?” Jay asked me
“C’mon, just take a look. I would simply take a look, I just want to know what is in there.” I replied him.
“That, I think is wrong.”
“It is no wrong, it is just me being curious.” I replied and picked up the document, I was about to flip in open when I heard Mantha’s voice.
“Kay?” She called and I quickly dropped the document back on the table.
“Yeah, you are awake.” I replied her.
“What were you doing?” She asked, rubbing her eyes sleepily.
“Nothing really.” I replied her.
“Did you touch my documents?” She asked, her eyes shooting up for a moment as she rushed towards me.
“I… I did not.” I replied her and she sighed.
“You lying to me is useless.” she replied and picked the book, sniffing my scent.
“This is definitely your scent.” she said to me.
“I… I was just going to sort things on the table. It is so crowded and messy.” I replied her.
“Oh I see, it is so messy isn’t it?” She asked sarcastically.
“I already told you that I would tell you everything in here when I confirm things.” she grumbled.
“Okay sure, I would not try to check on my own anymore.” I replied her.
“Promise?” She demanded.
“I promise you.” I replied her.
“Great, good morning Kay.” she greeted me and kissed my right cheek before kissing my forehead.
“I would go and take my bath then.” she said to me and skipped into the bathroom, dropping the document on the table.
“Such a huge temptation, she intentionally dropped it in front of me.” I grumbled.
“You can control yourself, right?” Jay asked me.
“What are you thinking? I am a completely self disciplined man.” I replied him and walked away from the document.
Samantha’s POV
I walked into the bathroom and closer the dpor behind me loudly so that Kayden could hear that. I halted for a moment before I opened the door gently and peeped into the room, I saw him standing up from the chair and walking away from the document.
“Running away from the temptation, I see.” I smiled softly as I stripped naked.
I picked a white towel and tied it around my chest, walking slowly into the already prepared bath tub.
After the bath, I tied the towel around my waist once more and walked to the front of the mirror.
I gazed at my reflection in the mirror, touching my stomach and wondering if there was really a baby growing inside of me.
I sighed softly and walked out of the bathroom, my eyes went to the document on the table, it was still at the same spot that I had left it.
“Stop staring at it, I did not touch it at all.” his voice came behind me and I turned to see him staring at me.
“I knew you did not.”
“How?”
“Because I trust you. You are a man of your words, you would not betray your words so easily.” I replied and he grinned walking towards me.
“I am going to be out today.” he announced, wrapping his arms around me.
“Out? Where are you going to?” I asked him.
“I am going to work, it has been a long time since I went to work last. The company has been lagging behind in the hands of those incompetent managers.”
“That’s true, you have been spending days with me.” I mumbled a reply.
“Your face looks so sad… Why? You do not want me to leave?” He asked me.
“I can’t stop you from going to work, it is the source of income.”
“How about you follow me to work then?” He suggested but I was quickly against the idea of following him to work.
If he left for work, then I would be able to go to the hospital and have the test conducted to ascertain my condition without alerting Kayden about my insecurities.
“There is no need for me to follow you to work, I might distract you or make you lag behind, it is just a few hours anyways, I would be waiting for you at home” I said to him.
“Really? You’re sure you would not be missing me during those hours.”
“We would.” Cara replied.
“Of course I would but I can really wait for you.” I said to him.
“Okay then, I would ensure that I come back for you very early.” he said to me and I kissed his right cheek.
“You should go and get dressed up for work lest you get late. I am going to dress up too.” I said to him and he withdraw away from me.
“Okay then.”
I watched him walk into the bathroom and I started to dress up too.
Half an hour later
We were both dressed up and I was going to visit the hospital immediately I escorted him out.
“Bye darling.” I waved at him as his car moved away from me.
He waved back at me as the car tore away from the mansion.
Immediately he had left, I walked out of the mansion, I was not going to take any car, that might arouse too much suspicion.
I took a cab and found my way to the hospital. I had the test run and I waited impatiently for the result of the test.
I played with my fingers nervously for hours as I stared at my wristwatch trying to be time conscious as well just to ensure that I got home on time, before Kayden would.
“Here you are ma’am.” the female Doctor said to me with a wide smile on her face, that smile was enough to reassure me that whatever result I was getting was for sure a positive result.
I eagerly opened the test result and glanced at the result.
“Cara! We are really going to have a pup!” I shrieked excitedly, my face breaking into non stop smiles.
“I am super excited!”
“Thank you so much.” I grinned at the doctor and walked out of the place with the smile still on my face.
How happy I was to know that I really have a baby growing in me, I touched my stomach and rubbed on it gently.
“Grow gently baby.” I whispered and giggled softly.
I was going to get into a taxi when I saw a familiar figure, Davis.
I withdrew from the taxi I was going to get in and studied his movements. He seemed to be a bit uneasy as he picked the call and discussed for a moment.
His final words were….
“I would be there soon.”
He looked around but I was careful enough to hide from his sight and maintain a distance that he would not be able to make out my scent.
As I saw him walk away, I concluded in my mind that I was going to follow him and find out where he was going to.
