Samantha’s POV
“We are leaving today, you know that?” Kayden asked me as I styles his hair while watching the online tutorial to learn it perfectly.
“Leaving for home?” I asked him.
“Of course.”
“That’s great I already miss Cassie so much.” I grinned.
“Would you miss me so much of I left home for long?” He asked.
“What are you talking about? I can’t stay a day without seeing you, that would have to be equal to hell itself.” I replied him.
“You are flattering my presence.” he said with a soft chuckle.
“You are finally learning how to compliment very well.” Cara said to me.
“What do you mean? I don’t know how to compliment? I have been good at it right from the day one.” I replied her.
“Oh really I see.” she responded sarcastically.
“Since we are leaving, I think I should go and inform Marie, come to think of it, I have not see her all morning.” I said to Kayden finishing up with what I was doing to his hair.
“That looks good.” I said to him.
“Anything my beautiful mate does is definitely good.” he replied me.
“Now you are the one flattering me here.” I said to him.
“I am only saying the Truth, you have never made anything bad or ugly.” he replied.
“I’m blushing right now… I would be off to Marie’s room to check up on her now, bye.” I waved at him like I was going to go somewhere far away.
“Okay, be back soon.” he replied and I left the room.
I knocked on the room that was beside the room I and Kayden occupied, that was Marie’s room.
“Marie.” I called.
“Yes… Coming.” her voice responded from inside the room.
Her foot steps approached and in seconds the door was thrown open, she was standing before me with a smile on her face.
“Good morning.” she grinned at me, her face radiating with happiness.
“Good morning Marie.” I replied with a smile and she opened the door wide open for me to be able to get in.
I walked into the door and she shut he door behind me.
There was a tray of food on her table already with empty plates that indicated that she had eaten already.
“Thinking about food, I really do think that we need a meal right away.” Cara said to me.
“Just few minutes talk with Marie first.”
“Marie.” I called softly, sitting on the couch.
“Do you know that they might be out there searching for you so they can eliminate you?” I asked her and her smile vanished, she replied me with a nod.
“I know that.”
“I also faced the same thing when I escaped but staying with Alpha is what kept me alive till this moment and I would be guessing your situation is a bit better because they do not know that you are not alive. Whoever they are, they must be guessing that you are very well dead.”
“I am at least glad for that string of luck.” she smiled a little.
“During your time there, is there anything tangible that you heard or something that you know?” I asked her and she raised her head up, holding her chin up in a way that indicated that she was trying to think.
“Anything?” I asked her.
“I really do not know much but I once heard them mention Alpha Kayden, the slave masters are afraid of him but they said their boss is not in any way afraid.” she replied me.
“You have ever heard of the name of their boss?” I asked her and she thought for seconds before shaking her head.
“I have never heard of his name, they do not speak of him at all.” she replied and I nodded, after all during all my years there, his name had never been mentioned too.
“You know any other thing?” I asked her.
“Not really, I know not much.” she replied me and I patted her shoulder.
“Okay, I would be leaving then.” I said to her and turned to leave but halted to give her an advice.
“Cover up your mark of slavery very well.” I said to her and she nodded.
“And we are going to be leaving for home very soon, you should pack and do whatever you want to do now.”
“Thank you for everything Samantha.” she said to me.
“It’s all perfectly fine.” I replied her and walked out of the room.
I was going to return to my room so that we could pack up and start going back home. How happy would Cassie be to see I and James?
I almost opened the door of my room before it came to me that James was going to give me some information that I could make do with for now.
I walked over to his room and knocked on the door.
“It is Samantha.” I said to him from outside the room.
“Samantha…. Right there, coming.” he replied me and in seconds, the door was wide open.
I stepped into the room with him and closer the door.
“Where is it?” I asked him.
“Here you go, I had it compiled into a document. It might not really be helpful for now because this is just his basic and clear background but the next time I have news, it should be better than this because I am going to try to get into his phone and find out those he contacts apart from those that we know he is related to ” James said to me, giving me the document.
“Thank you so much, I bet I would find something tangible in this also.” I replied him with a smile, flipping open the document.
“I would be leaving then.” I replied and walked out of his room.
I returned to the room I scared with Kayden and there he was with his laptop on his laps, I knew he was doing some office work, he had been really too busy to focus on office work.
“So hardworking and responsible.” Cara complimented.
“I wish I could help him a whole lot but I am just an illiterate, what do I know?” I replied her.
“You could just learn then, go to school ”
“That would be after all of this then.” I replied her and took my seat before the study table.
I picked a pen and paper and began analyzing the documents.
There was really nothing of interest and great suspicion in the document but then my head seemed to bring me back to the fact that Davis was from the lock heart’s pack.
“There is nothing about him being from a pack, so why can’t I just seem to forget about it?”
“Because perhaps, there is something about him being from a pack.” Cara replied me.
“Perhaps I compare the lock heart’s pack and then my own pack?” I suggested.
“That’s the only thing we can do now so of course we are doing that.” Cara replied and I jotted down the name of Davis pack, the lock heart’s pack and the name of my pack, the Green Moss pack.
But still yet I knew nothing about the both.
“Kayden.” I called.
“Yeah?” He replied, tearing his gaze off his laptop for a moment to look at me.
“Is there anything between the lock heart’s pack and the Green Moss pack?” I asked him.
“Actually there is, according to my dad, there was a prophecy back then that the next generation of the Green Moss Pack was going to turn out to be really strong, strong enough to be the beta of the entire Wolfdom, a position that has always belonged to the Lock Heart’s pack.” he replied me and I nodded thoughtfully.
“Thanks for the answer.” I said to Kayden and focused on what I was doing once more.
“Cara, are you thinking what I am thinking right now?” I asked her.
“Of course I am.” she replied.
“What if my pack was intentionally destroyed just so that they could retain power. This points toward Davis even more and perhaps his father too, because Davis would have been too young back then to pull all of these stunts because in this case, there is just him who stands to benefit from this situation, get the generation that might threaten their chance of retaining the position of the beta out of their way and in that way they can successfully continue.”
