James POV
“Can you please stop talking?” I asked the girl that was beside me.
“This girl is so damn annoying.” Kim groaned.
“But you are….”
“Stop talking Marie.”
“I love the way you call my name, it sounds so good, please call my name once more.” she requested and I groaned.
“Gosh! Could I hate someone more?” Kim growled.
“Listen I don’t know how you suddenly seem to be interested in me but I do know that I do not like you and I can’t like you.”
“People date and people break up….”
“And what are you trying to say?” I asked her with a fierce look which she did not notice because she was looking away with a smile of fantasies on her face.
“I am just saying, you have a girlfriend today but you might break up tomorrow and then the both of us can get together when you do break up with… ”
I slammed my fist against the car wheels shutting her up, she gasped in fear as her eyes shot wide open.
I breathed heavily, seething with anger and rage as I turned to face her slowly.
“Listen to me! If you were a man, I very well do know what I would have done to you by now! Now, that I am being nice, I would appreciate it if you get a hold of your brains that seem to be moving far away from you. You don’t tell me that I am going to break up with someone you hater! I am not going to ever break up with Cassie, get that into your skull or just get out of this car.”
“But…”
That was the only word she had to say in her voice that sounded so irritating and annoying to me that made me almost lose it.
I stepped hard on the brakes and the car screeched to a sudden halt making the both of us jerk forward.
“Are you going to get us killed?” She asked.
“Shut the heck up!”
I alighted from the car in my fit or rage and slammed the door hard.
“James.” I heard Samantha shriek as she alighted from their car too followed by Alpha Kayden.
“What’s going on here?” Alpha Kayden asked in that domineering and authoritative voice.
“She… She is trying to flirt with me and is getting on my nerves totally.” I replied him with my gaze to the floor as I tried not to lose control of my voice.
“And you?” Alpha Kayden asked as he turned to face Marie.
“I… I am sorry Alpha Kayden. I promise I would not do such anymore.” Marie apologized, her voice cracking under Alpha Kayden’s intense gaze.
“One more time and I would not hesitate to have you punished, I would not consider the fact that you are a friend of Mantha.” Alpha Kayden said to her.
“Let her join us in our own car.” Samantha suggested and I could not be more grateful.
“That would be ruining our privacy.” Alpha Kayden replied her and I watched Samantha walk up to him and whisper into his ears.
“Fine.” Alpha Kayden responded and Marie walked over from my side to their side.
“I would take the car then.” I said with a relieved smile.
“Cassie wants to speak to you, you should call her.” Samantha said to me and my smile grew even wider.
“Thanks so much.” I appreciated her and got into the car.
“You’re welcome.” she mumbled a response to me.
I got into the car and quickly placed a call across to Cassie, she picked up at the second ring.
“Hey, I called you earlier, what were you doing?” She asked me softly and I gulped.
“Nothing really, just doing some work, we talked this morning, you miss me again?” I asked her.
“What would you gain in me telling you that I miss you?”
“I would gain a whole lot from knowing that Cassie.” I replied her.
“What if I just say it and I do not mean it?” She asked.
“I know that once you say it, you definitely do mean it.”
“Such confidence can only come from you.” she said and I could sense that she was smiling at this point.
“Really? I am glad then so are you going to say it?” I asked her.
“Okay…. I miss you a lot James, come home soon.” she said to me and I could feel my heart do a triple flip, she had just said such words to me again.
“I miss you too Cassie, I miss your touch, I miss your face, I miss your smiles, I miss your kisses, I miss your little cute running.” I said to her, rushing my words in one breath.
“I didn’t ask you to say all of that.” she replied with a considerable amount of shyness in her tone.
“I would come home for you very soon, once we are done with things here, I am going to come home to you Cassie.” I said to her.
“Hmm…. I will be waiting for you patiently.” she replied.
“I love you Cassie.” I said to her but she did not reply. Instead she ended the call but I was still smiling.
I was over all of it now, we are sure going to get together once I go back home to her. She might not be giving response to me saying I love her but her calling me twice in just a day is like the best thing that could happen to me in one day.
I kissed the screen of my phone that had her picture as my wallpaper and grinned happily before taking control of the wheels.
I drove off after the other car that Alpha Kayden occupied. My smile slowly vanished as I remembered that I had not done anything on what Samantha had asked me to, the investigation about Beta Davis.
“Kim, we have a mission and today we are going to start it. I am going to figure out everything I can about beta Davis.”
