Kayden’s POV
I quickly mind linked with Davis.
“Hey, make sure that guy is kept safe, he might not be the one we are searching for, he might not be the mole.” I said to him.
“I was just about to report to you Alpha, I do not get why you don’t think that he is the mole anymore because the guy already admitted to being the mole amongst us ” Davis replied and I stopped in my tracks.
“What do you mean? He is the mole? I am going to ask him some things myself” I replied him.
“He… He already killed himself, he killed himself immediately after telling me the truth.” Davis said to me and it was time for me to hair in my tracks one more time.
“He killed himself? Why would he do that? How are you sure that was what really happened to him?” I asked him.
“I was right there when he killed himself, I was not expecting that action from him so I was unable to stop him from doing so.” he replied me and I ran my hands through my hair.
I could not punish Davis, he has been my trusted all these years, if it was someone else who was unable to stop someone from committing suicide, I would have had that soul punished but for Davis… He has been good for too long.
“He admitted to being the mole?” I asked, digesting his words.
“Yes he did.” he replied me.
But how come? The shirt proved that he did not clean blood.
“Then did he mention who the person who is behind him is?” I asked.
“He did not, he refused to tell it to me till he killed himself.” Davis said to me and I ended the mind link.
“I would better go there to take a look at things myself.” I said to Kay.
“You might not want to agree with me but things are really fishy at this point.” he replied me.
“I agree with you on it, these occurrences are strange.” I said to him as I subconsciously held Mantha’s hands.
“Hey, where to?” She asked me as I pulled her with me.
“I was told that the guy we thought was the mole is dead.” I replied and she halted.
“Dead? How is that even possible? You did not touch him, right?”
“I did not, he committed suicide.” I replied her and the both of us walked to the room.
The dead body laid on the floor, with blood splattered on the floor.
Davis was also standing there, one hand on the other as he stared anxiously at the corpse.
I approached the corpse and turned it to face up, the chest had been badly battered. It was a bloody scene, I looked at Samantha, the sight seemed to affect her but in few seconds, she was back to that lady she was, her eyes fierce and sharp.
“He died just few minutes ago.” Davis said to me.
“His exact words were ‘I am sorry, I am the mole truly but I never really wanted to get involved in it, I was really tempted and I was just being selfish but instead of dying in the hands of Alpha Kayden, I would rather take my own life.” Davis quoted his words.
“This man, what could he have been thinking? Just few minutes ago, he was hell bent on the fact that he is not the mole and he was profusely pleading not to be killed. This man…. this man does not seem like the type to kill himself, he is the type that really loves his life.” Samantha pondered.
“That’s right.” I mumbled and looked at Davis.
“You were here when he died, right?” I asked him and he nodded repeatedly.
“He does not seem like the type to commit murder but he eventually did commit suicide and that’s the fact.” Davis replied.
“Pack up his body.” I said to him and walked out with Samantha.
“There’s something not quite right about the mode of death.” Samantha said to me as we both walked away from the room.
“You also do think so.”
“The attitude of the man when we last saw…..”
“And the point of injury, it was his chest, his heart specifically, it is strange for a man who is going to commit suicide to bury his own claws into his own heart, it seems more like… more like….”
“Like it was fine by someone else.” Samantha completed my words.
“But I really do trust Davis and he told me it was in his presence that he killed himself, I have no reason to doubt Davis so I guess I would take it that that was how things happened exactly.” I shrugged but the look on Mantha’s face showed that she was not satisfied yet.
She was going to find out more and not even I could stop her from doing so.
“Mantha, forget about it.” I said to her and she forced a smile to me but her eyes still showed that unsatisfactory look.
“Yeah I would.” she replied and we both continued our walk.
Samantha’s POV
I could not do believe that everything was fine, something is definitely amiss. I looked backwards and saw Davis staring at me, the stares gave me one sort of eerie feeling, I felt a cold shudder but I shook it away and continued walking with Kayden.
Yeah, Davis had been with Kayden for years and he was particularly trusted by Kayden and all others but this issue was making me have doubts about who precisely was this man.
“What do you think about Davis? Don’t be quiet Cara.” I said to her.
“I feel what you feel Mantha.”
“What do you think we should do about this issue?” I asked her.
“Kayden trusts Davis so much and we are supposed to do the same but this time, I think we should be wary of everyone and everything, anyone could be the mole who keeps giving us out. Kayden would not support our idea of finding out about Davis so I can only suggest that we find out things…. On our own.”
