Chapter 143

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-31

Cassie’s POV
I pulled my chair to the window and sat before the window, I was going to watch James when he left for the journey.
My heart did not want him to go but by brain was telling me that would be the best for me. Quite unfortunately, my heart was winning over my brain.
I wanted his presence with me, him traveling was too sudden and it was not a good news.
“What if he is going to travel to see a girl?” I asked myself and gasped.
“No, that’s not possible.” I shook my head, getting the thoughts out of my head.
“But thinking about it… It really is possible.” I mumbled and ran my hand through my hair.
I got up from my chair and rushed to the door, I had grabbed the handle already to open it and go out there to question him on where he was going to.
I halted at the door and stepped backwards a bit.
“I… I can’t do this.” I mumbled to myself and returned to the chair by the window.
“He is not going to see a woman.” I mumbled to myself.
“You already broke things off with him, why do you care?” My mind questioned me and I asked myself that question again.
Why do I care? Why do I have to care so much?
I could not hold myself back, I grabbed my phone and checked his many hours it would take to get Miss Lauren’s house, it was about an hour.
The 8 hours journey is for another thing entirely then.
Maybe Alpha Kayden called him to come meet him and Samantha somewhere.
I rested a bit with that guess but it did not take long before I became restless once more.
“I should just call Samantha to check if Alpha Kayden was the one who requested for the presence of James.” I said to myself and with that I picked my phone up and dialed Samantha’s contact.
She picked up at the third ring.
“Hey Cassie, how are you doing? I was just about to call you.” she said to me.
“I am doing pretty well now, I do not feel totally weak.” I replied her.
“That’s great.” she replied.
“Actually Samantha, I have a question that I would like to ask you.” I said to her.
“Shoot.” she replied.
“Thanks…. uhm.. did Alpha Kayden request for James to come to wherever you guys are? Or maybe somewhere else that is really far from here? About 8 hours?” I asked her abd she went quiet for a moment before replying me.
“No, not at all. I have been with Kay all morning, he had not called James at all.” she replied me.
“Oh”
“I see, thanks.” I mumbled and ended the call.
I threw my phone off in a rage, he is really going to meet someone else?! So he had always had another girl ready?!
I turned towards the window and saw him loading his things into the car.
“Go to hell!”
Samantha’s POV
“Why did you ask me to lie?” I asked Kayden as the car parked.
I was going to tell Cassie that Kayden had called James to meet him but Kayden had told me not to.
“I am simply trying to help them, with James away from her, she would miss him so much and thinking he is with another lady… That would be so….”
“Your ways of getting them together are always so provocative and aggressive.” I pouted.
“C’mon, I think it would work.” he replied me and I rested into the chair once more.
“I pray so.” I mumbled and we both alighted from the car.
The scene was a bit crowded with some men just roaming about the place.
“Alpha Kayden.”
“Miss. Samantha.” the greeted with slight bows as we walked past them.
We finally got to the bus itself, standing next to it was Davis, the beta of the pack.
“Good day sir Davis.” I greeted him a small bow.
“Oh no! How in the world can the mate of Alpha Kayden bow to me?” He asked.
“Alpha Kayden.” he bowed, turning to Kayden.
“Is this exactly how the bus was met?” Kayden asked him.
“Yes Alpha.” he replied.
“Hope it has not been cleaned or something of the sort?” Kay asked him.
“Not at all, I have ensured that it maintains its original form till you get here.” Davis replied and my eyes caught sight of something.
It looked like dirty hands had been wiped off and there was a bit of blood that seemed to have been wiped off too.
I approached the two fading stains, it was not very visible but it was not tiny enough to escape my sharp eyes.
“Someone must have cleaned this boss.” I said to Cara.
“Definitely but it might as well be done by your slave masters before they dumped the bus.” Cara replied me and I reasoned with her.
“What are you staring at?” Kayden asked me but before I could reply him, his eyes had caught sight of what I was seeing.
He moved towards the spot and carefully examined the spot with me walking beside him.
“Thought you said this bus has not been cleaned?” Kayden asked Davis.
“It has not been cleaned.” Davis affirmed.
“But this has been cleaned… In quite a hurried and a miserable attempt.” Kayden replied.
“Maybe it was cleaned by the slave masters before they eventually dumped the bus here?” Davis asked.
“Yeah I was thinking about that too.” I replied him.
“No.” Kayden remarked sharply.
“Any other thing?” I asked him.
“This cleaning was done recently, the scent of the soap is still sharp, this part of the bus is also a bit wet, it was cleaned this very day.” Kayden said and I found out that he was correct.
“The spy…. Whoever specifically cleaned this part of the bus must be the spy that I have been guessing that we have in here.” Kayden started.
“Every man here should be questioned then.” I said to Kay.
“You heard my mate, make sure that no one leaves, bring all of them to me, I am getting that silly mole!”
