James POV
I woke up outside her room, the floor had been cold throughout the night and it was really uncomfortable for me to sleep on the floor but I was willing to do it for her.
I sat up and rested my back against the hard wall, the door opened and Cassie stepped out of the room.
“Cassie, you are awake.” I said to her, forcing a smile and hoping she would return the smile but as you could have guessed, she did not.
“What are you doing?” She asked me.
“I… I am only trying to get your forgiveness.” I replied her and saw her swallow a huge lump while looking away from my face.
“I have told you that you are not going to get it.” she replied defiantly.
“I know you are definitely going to forgive me very soon, I just have to….”
“I don’t want to hear more of your words, please do not sleep in front of my door, your presence is not something I appreciate.” she said to me and I gulped.
This was the same Cassie that had always wanted me to stay beside her each and every single moment, the same Cassie who could very well follow me to the doorstep of the toilet and even talk to me from there, the same girl that never wanted to be separated from me even for a second.
“I know I am really wrong, Cassie, can we just forget about everything?” I asked desperately, holding her hands but she jerked my hands off hers with a glare.
“I can’t forget about it and even if I try to forget about it, it is not just something of the past, it is something that would still have an impact on our future too.” she replied me.
“I can very well promise you Cassie that I would ensure that our future would be together with happiness, I am going to protect you forever.” I said to her but she began to walk away without giving me a reply.
“Cassie.” I called after her and began to walk towards her.
“Cassie.” I called as I took her hands in mine. This time around, she did not try to jerk my hands away, my hands simply remained on hers, gently caressing her soft hands with passion.
She turned to look at me and I tried to give her the most remorseful face I could ever get.
“Just give me a chance Cassie.” I said to her abd she sighed softly.
“But… But…” She struggled with her words.
“I know it’s hard for you to take me back but you can do it, I know you very well love me, please let’s just….”
“Let go of me James, I can not do this, stop trying to force me into this.” she said and began to walk away, get hand slipping away from mine.
“I am not forcing you Cassie, you are the one forcing your heart to do something else when it is clear that the only thing your heart wants to do is to love me.” I said to her but she did not even stop in her tracks.
I sighed and cracked my knuckles.
“A man does not give up so easily.” Kim said to me and even those simply words actually meant a lot to me.
“I know Kim, and I am not going to give up easily.” I replied him and began to head towards the kitchen.
Even though she did not eat the meal that I prepared for her yesterday, I still wanted to prepare for her another delicious meal.
“I just have to be optimistic that she is going to eat this meal.” I said to Kim.
“Yes, it’s just optimism.” he replied and with that I walked into the kitchen.
I was still cooking when Alpha Kayden mind linked with me.
“Alpha Kayden.” I said in respects.
“I will be sending an address to your mobile phone, I would be expecting you there in few hours.” he said to me.
“Y… Yes Alpha.” I replied him and he ended the mind link.
I could not understand why he was suddenly calling me out, was things starting to get tougher than what he had expected? I did not want to leave the mansion and leave Cassie behind especially but then I knew I had no choice but to go to wherever Alpha Kayden wanted me to go to.
I dished the meal that I was cooking and found my way to Cassie’s room, I knocked on her door but she seemed to have figured out that I was the one at the door so she did not open the door neither did she say a word to me.
My phone buzzed with a message at that moment, I grabbed the phone from my back pockets and stared at the message, I was to go out of town totally to where Alpha Kayden wanted me to be meaning that I would be hours away from Cassie. I sighed softly and tucked the phone back in my pockets.
I pushed the door open and stepped into the room, I had not even taken my bath that morning.
I headed towards where she was seated, just behind her table, I placed the tray of food on her table and stared at her with a small smile that I managed to let out of my sad heart.
“What is this?” She asked.
“I prepared breakfast for you.” I replied her.
“I do not want it.” she grumbled and looked away from the meal.
“Please Cassie, just eat a bit of it.” I said to her but she did not budge, not even a little bit.
“Cassie.” I called softly but there was yet no response.
“I am traveling.” I announced to her and saw her snap her head towards me for a moment before she quickly looked down to hide her curiosity.
A sincere smile grazed my lips seeing that she was still concerned about my issues.
“Where are you going to?” She asked me.
“You really want to know?” I asked her.
“I don’t want to know, don’t say it if you do not want to.” she grumbled and got up from where she was seated, walking to the window.
“I don’t care about where ever you are going…. How far is it?” She asked and quickly covered her mouth with her palm when she realized that she had actually asked a question again.
“Why do you want to know? You don’t want me to leave you?” I asked her.
“I… I… I just wanted to know how far it is because it would be great peace to me if it is very far away.” she said but I needed no one to tell me that was a lie.
“It’s about 8 hours drive from here.” I replied her, exaggerating things just a little bit.
“8 hours?!” She asked alarmed.
“You can tell if you want to tag along?” I said to her.
“Who wants to go with you? Just get out and go off.” she grumbled and pushed me out of her room.
She slammed the door shut but I just smiled, then giggled. Telling her that I was traveling made me realize how much she really did love me.
