Chapter 83

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-31

Kayden’s POV
I was quite satisfied with the things I had done with her today. After all, I was able to break my coldness for her and show her my warm side, a side of me that had been buried for years now. She dug it out.
“How did I do today?” I asked Jay who had all this while been fussing about how I needed to treat a mate.
“Better than my expectations after years,” he replied.
“Uhm… Kay.” Mantha called and I diverted my gaze to her.
“What more?” I asked her before she could say a word.
“The movie I wanted us to watch,” she replied
“Oops, I almost forgot.”
“It’s okay if you’re tired already, we could just go watch it some other day,” she said and I almost said yes but remembering that when girls say yes, they actually do mean no, I held her shoulders.
“I am completely fine. How can I be tired when you’re with me? Let’s go to the cinema.” I glanced at the wristwatch.
It was evening already.
“Nights are just the perfect time to watch movies,” I said to her and held her by her waist, leading her back to the car.
I got into the driver’s seat and began driving
“You know how to drive?” I asked.
“No,” she replied lowly.
“Why? You never needed to do so?” I asked her.
“Let’s just say that,” she mumbled and I stopped pressing further.
The lowness of her voice kind of indicated that what I was talking about was getting to her and her part and her source.
We got to the cinema quite late since it was a bit far away from the amusement park.
“Let’s go check what movies are showing.”
We got into the cinema and I was quite disappointed to find out that there were no romantic movies showing, that would have been perfect for us, a couple.
“Maybe we should really come some other time,” I mumbled.
“Let’s just watch the horror movies instead,” Mantha said and I looked at her with a smirk.
“You’re sure you would be able to take it?” I asked her.
“Of course, nothing is so scary in it. I bet I would be able to watch it quite comfortably,” she replied with a whole lot of confidence.
“Okay let’s make a bet since you are so confident,” I replied to her.
“Good, what bet?”
“If you throw away your popcorn in the middle of the movie or grab my hands tightly or show any signs of fear at all, you would have to kiss me for five minutes, what happens during those five minutes is on me, we might… Make out or do anything.” I replied.
“You think I am a scared cat? Get ready to lose the bet but what if I win, what if I show no signs of fear?” She asked
“What do you want from me?” I asked, digging my hands into my pockets
“I want you to….. I want you to let me decide the time when we will get married or… It’s okay if you don’t want to marry… I want you to let me decide when we are going to mate.” she replied.
“First, we are going to get married real soon and second, I agree to it, If you win, you would get to decide when we are going to mate,” I said to her.
“Great! Let’s go in”
We bought the tickets and popcorn and walked into the cinema. It was half-filled up and we chose our seats in the middle.
“The show is starting, scared cat.” I teased playfully.
“I am not a scared cat and I am going to show you that,” she replied and then the movie started.
It was a quite bloody movie but it didn’t move me after all I had seen bloody scenes even in reality, I had spilt blood myself in reality so why should a made-up bloody scene move me?
I watched Mantha, shock and horror were written clearly on her face but she was not showing too much fear but then I could still bet again that she would be throwing off the popcorn in a few minutes.
The expression on her face told me that she was not used to this but then in a few minutes, her expression changed and it seemed like she was not scared of the movie, it seemed like she was scared of something else.
Her face looked like she had gone through some kind of hell before and this movie was only bringing back memories.
“I do want to know what’s going on with her,” I said to Jay.
“I am also curious but then just a bit more, she would have no option than to tell it to us, everything she is trying to bottle up” Jay replied and I reasoned with him.
I looked back at Mantha and that expression was gone, now she was just scared of the movie itself, maybe she simply could not relate herself to the character anymore and now it was just any random horror movie to her.
“I could actually get something from this movie. Mantha is relatable to the character at the beginning of the movie which means I have to watch the beginning of the movie yet again to have a clue about what she has gone true.” I said to Jay.
“You know that sometimes, you really do display a reasonable amount of brain,” he replied and before I could give him a response to that, loads of popcorns were flying up in the air.
“Aaaaaaaaargh!!!” Mantha screamed and hugged me tightly.
I chuckled softly and held her soft and delicate body close to myself.
“Now, do you admit being a scared cat?” I asked her and she nodded repeatedly, still holding onto me tightly.
I was quite glad that she had lost the bet but then one thing was still of concern to me, her wolf side had not been trained at all yet because if her wolf side has been trained appropriately, she would not have been scared of a horror movie.
“You lost the bet,” I said to her when she regained her composure.
“How could I lose?! This… this movie is simply too scary,” she replied.
“You still lost so you have to fulfil the other part of the deal,” I said to her and she frowned playfully before leaning closer to me to bring her part of the deal to life.
I closed my eyes midway and our lips had almost touched before I stopped her.
“Not here.” I shook my head, getting another idea.
“Ugh… Where?” She asked.
“In front of Mum, Dad and even Lauren.”
