Samantha’s POV
We walked down to the car in silence, only the sounds of our footsteps could be heard.
Eating out was really nice but then paying 50, 000 dollars just for privacy was something memorable, It was sure an event I was not going to forget in a rush.
“Where should we go to next?” He asked as we got into the car.
“The amusement park!”
“Right, let’s go then.”
“And…. Don’t pay for privacy, please.” I pleaded and he nodded with a smile on his face.
It was really one of the greatest pleasures to see him smiling.
“Look at you.”
“Cara, he is so adorable.”
“I know too,” Cara replied and then my mind suddenly wandered off for no reason at all.
I was out in public, the last time I was out in public, I clearly remembered that I had almost got caught by my slave masters.
Immediately, fear set in my mind and I gulped hard.
“We would be safe.” I tried to reassure myself.
“Anything wrong?” Kay asked, his hands covering mine.
“I… I am fine.” I stuttered a reply which I knew was completely false.
I looked around nervously and shut my eyes.
“I pray I am not seen by them.” I prayed silently and covered my mark with my hair properly.
“That mark on your neck….” Jay started and my heartbeat rate increased.
“It’s nothing, I know nothing about the mark. It has always been there, I know nothing about it.” I replied to him before realizing how awkward my rushed response was.
“Chill, it’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it right now,” he replied in a soft and comforting voice that seemed to do very well in soothing me also.
I rested back in the seat and shut my eyes while still praying that I should not be seen. I knew I was the one they were searching for that night, they had searched for me to this point, they were probably not going to give up on finding me soon.
“Cara, I am a bit scared.”
“You don’t need to be. Remember who you are and who you have with you.” Cara tried to comfort me also and in a few seconds, I fell asleep.
Kayden’s POV
I parked the car and undid my seat belt, I turned my gaze on her and found that she was sleeping already.
She looked scared even in her sleep, her awkwardness, when I talked about the mark on her neck, aroused my suspicions, even more, there was more to the mark.
And then her words… “I pray I am not seen by them” she most probably had no idea that I heard her silent prayer.
Her words were evidence that she was trying to stay out of sight of someone or a group of people. These people she was talking about were definitely the guys she was running away from the first night we met.
I caressed her face gently.
“I will be here for you no matter what. No one is going to harm you.” I kissed her hand.
“No… No… let go of me.” I looked up at Mantha.
She was having a nightmare right in the middle of the day.
I held her hands and caressed it gently whispering to her that ‘it’s all okay
“Don’t take me away… I want to remain with Alpha Kayden… Please don’t…. don’t take me away.” she pleaded in her sleep. I pulled her close to me, making her body hug mine.
“No one is going to dare take you away from me Mantha, you are mine and mine alone,” I said to her and heard her whimpering.
She hugged me tightly and I patted her back gently.
“It’s okay Mantha,” I assured her.
“We need to find what’s going on,” Jay said to me, he was in a bad mood as I was too. There was nothing great or good about seeing your very mate crying in front of you, and it was even worse that you didn’t know what was going on with her.
“Should we go back home and rest?” I asked her softly and she pulled back from the hug, wiping her tears away.
“No… let’s go in… I would be fine with you, you are with me, I am not scared of anything.” she replied and hugged me again.
“Yes you do not need to be scared, I would always protect you from whatever harm or danger is out there.” I kissed her forehead and she moved backwards.
“Let’s go have fun,” she said with a huge smile in an attempt to cover up the sadness in her but she failed miserably as I could still see the despair.
I alighted from the car and walked over to the other side of the car. I helped her out of the car and wrapped my hands around her waist.
“Let’s go,” I said to her and the both of us walked into the amusement park.
“Ice cream! Ice cream” she squealed excitedly and I was quite glad to see that she was genuinely excited and it was not just her trying to cover up her sadness.
“You love ice cream so much?” I asked her and she nodded repeatedly, a huge grin on her face as she pulled me to the ice cream stand.
“Two vanilla ice cream please,” she said to the salesman.
“Two?”
“Yeah, one for you and one for me.”
“I am not interested in ice cream” I replied and she frowned.
“You don’t like ice cream?” She asked.
“Too sweet.”
“But that is more reason to have it.”
“Not for me, I have to stay fit.”
“Sorry for the inconvenience but we are not buying anymore,” she said to the salesman.
“Why are you no longer buying?”
“I want to stay fit too.”
“C’mon, you are so freaking pretty and beautiful already, having ice cream is nothing to you,” I replied and she stretched her hands forward to the salesman.
“One please.” she grinned and the salesman handed it over to her.
“So tasty.” she licked her lips and that singular act was enough to make me gulp.
She continued having her ice cream till some of it smeared her lips but she was oblivious to it.
“Your lips.” I pointed out.
“Ugh… What?”
“Your….” I sighed softly, shook my head, leaned over to her and kissed her lips softly, licking off the ice cream on her lips.
I pulled back and licked my lips.
“Tasty.”
“What are you doing?” She grumbled cutely
“What am I doing? Having ice cream.”
“You said you don’t like it.”
“Didn’t say I didn’t like the one on your lips,” I replied to her and leaned over to her before whispering in a husky voice to her.
“Nothing tastes better than you.”
