CHAPTER NINETY-SIX.
The news of Mr. Johan’s company’s downfall spread through the entire country like wildfire. It was in the newspapers, the press, social media platforms , everywhere buzzing with the news.
Jamal had rendered the company useless, but they didn’t know it was him. The Johan family went bankrupt and Jamal was finally satisfied.
He took everything away from the men who thought they could tarnish his reputation and ruin his life after serving them for years and making them richer. He had finally gotten his revenge.
And for Danielle, his plan was to have her exiled from the country, but Adele begged him not to do that. She suggested that he give her some money and urge her to leave the country, instead of sending her off and warning her never to return. It took a solid four hours of constant begging before Jamal changed his mind.
Adele wanted to meet with Danielle and talk with her one last time, but she knew Danielle would never honour her invitation if she invited her, so she decided to make an anonymous appointment and they had to meet in one of Jamal’s penthouses.
Danielle, who had no idea it was Adele who had invited, went over to the penthouse, thinking she was going to meet Jamal. She had worn the most revealing dress in her closet, hoping she would get the chance to seduce him, but when she got into the penthouse, she was beyond disappointed to see Adele seated in the sitting area, prolly waiting for her.
“Adele!” She called in total dismay as she walked closer to her. Adele smiled and rose to her feet to greet her.
“Hello Danielle. I’m happy you could make it, you are welcome.”
“Wait! Hold on…” Said Danielle as she tried to understand what was going on. “You mean to tell me that you are the one I had to come all the way here to see?” She asked, hoping Adele would say no and Jamal would come out from one of the doors, but her hopes were crushed when Adele nodded her head and smiled. “Fuck you!” She cursed and turned to leave.
“You can walk out of that door and live the rest of your life like a commoner or you can stay and listen to what I have to say and step up your life.” Adele laid down the options and Danielle stopped on her tracks and turned to face her, her brows furrowed. She took calm calculated steps over to Adele who was still smiling at her and stopped a few meters away.
“You sneaky bitch! You are starting to get some confidence there, aren’t you?”
“This has got nothing to do with my new found confidence. This is a matter of you choosing between a miserable life and a comfortable life. You might not believe it, but right now, I have the power to decide how the rest of your life will be and it will be so.” Adele fired at Danielle and she scoffed in total disbelief.
“You…” She was about to throw a dirty insult, but she suddenly remembered that Adele was Jamal’s wife and he doted on her very much. Anything she asked for, he gave it to her without any hesitation.
Adele indeed had the power to decide if her life would be miserable henceforth or not.
She quickly swallowed the words she wanted to spit out and cleared her throat.
“What do you want from me?” She asked and Adele pointed to the couch opposite the one she was occupying.
“How about you take a seat first?” Adele offered and she grudgingly sat down. A pin dropping silence spread through the room and Danielle couldn’t get her eyes off Adele. She(Adele) looked… Different.
The normal Adele never really bothered about dressing very fancy and putting on much makeup, but the Adele she was seated before her that afternoon looked magnificent. Her makeup and hair were on point and her outfit was splendid. She looked like a rich man’s wife and Danielle felt jealousy coursing through her heart because until that moment, she still believed that Adele had snatched Jamal from her.
“You didn’t call this meeting for us to come here and stare at each other, did you?” Danielle finally broke the silence.
“Of course not.” Adele said and stylishly crossed her legs. “First, I would like to say I’m sorry for your father’s company’s sudden misfortune. That must have been heartbreaking to experience.”
“I hardly believe you mean that apology when it was in fact your husband who caused it all.”
“The man had a good reason to do so. Your father planned to ruin his life.”
“But I saved him and he didn’t even consider that fact. He still went ahead to punish my father!”
“Because he deserved it!” Adele insisted.
“And you deserve to die! My God Adele you are such…” breathes heavily. “You are such a nuisance. A bone in my throat, a pain in my fucking ass, a thorn in my fucking flesh. Your entire existence is my nemesis. I swear I wish I had the chance to kill you right now!” Danielle bitterly lamented and Adele chuckled, in pure satisfaction.
She loved what she was putting Danielle through. She loved seeing the pain and frustration on her face. The sound of pain in her voice was like food to her soul. She was getting her revenge in the best way possible!
“I’m glad you know how it feels to have someone as a pain in your fucking ass! This is Karma getting back at you for all the times you treated me like trash. This Karma is getting back at you for blackmailing my husband. You thought you could mess with us and go Scott free? No, you have to pay for all the bad things you did to us. For making us lose our child. You have to pay!”
“I didn’t push you to the ground, your husband did. He was the one who killed your child, not me.”
“Because you kept pushing him to the wall. You kept shoving hot coals up into his ass and setting him on the edge. If you had just given him what he needed, none of that would have happened. But you refused.”
“Because you were in the picture! I had him first, but you suddenly showed up out of nowhere and stole him from me.”
“Stole him? Don’t be ridiculous Danielle, Jamal is not something I can steal and keep to myself. He is a human with feelings and a sense of judgement. He chose me!”
“Fuck you, Adele!” Danielle cried in agony. “I swear I’ll make you pay for this.” Her voice was shaky. “You won’t get away with any of this.”
“Yeah… whatever. And for what you did to Shannelle, shame on you. That’s not how to treat someone you’ve been friends with for over twenty years.”
“Her brother pushed me to the wall. I needed to get my revenge!”
“And look where it landed you. In chaos!”
“I don’t see how that is your problem. Look Adele, I know the reason you called me here was to taunt me and you are doing that perfectly. You have won this fight. You now have the man and the money…”
“It was never about the money.”
“I. Don’t. Fucking. Care!” Danielle cut her off with a scream. “I don’t care what it was about, but you have won, now please, leave me the fuck alone!” Danielle scolded at the top of her voice and Adele swallowed hard.
“Do you know that because of what you did, Jamal planned to exile you from this country?”
“What?”
“Yeah, you know he has the power to send you out and make you never return, right?”
“Jamal would never do such a thing to me. He doesn’t hate me that much.”
“Then you really don’t know him. I was the one who begged him not to do it and it was not and easy task trying to make him change his decision.”
“Oh, the almighty saviour of my life. Thank you so much for begging on my behalf. How can I repay you for all the kindness you have shown me? Should I bow down and kiss your feet? Or should I lay on the ground for you to walk on me? Just say the word and it’s done!”
Sarcasm!
Sarcasm was all Adele could get from everything Danielle just said to her. She just shook her head and stayed still and Danielle frowned at her.
“If you like, tell your husband to gather the entire country so he can hang me in public, I don’t care, but I refuse to have my life controlled by the two of you. I’m gonna walk out of that door and if it pleases you, you can report it to your husband. I won’t care. Have a nice life!” Said Danielle as she stormed out of the living room.
Adele let out a sinister chuckle as she took her glass of wine from the table and sipped a bit before setting the glass down again.
Satisfaction.
Satisfaction was all she felt at that moment.
