Yond added, “My father learned the poison was manufactured from the blood of a witch.” Ella was at a loss for words.
“I don’t…. ‘I don’t know, “she shook her head hopefully.
It’s true that “none of us does,” as Yond shurged.
“The witches are not intended to disobey the law, therefore this is rather perplexing. We can only assume they assaulted one of us to spark a full-scale conflict with us. You were the convenient scapegoat, I’m afraid. “While Ella was thinking, he got out from behind her and washed the napkin again in the bowl. Those witches launched an assault? If so, why? Her head began to hurt very little.
Oh… she just couldn’t concentrate on anything for long. She was exhausted, hungry, and weak. The sound of riding hooves prompted Yond to get to his feet and investigate. He hastened to the glass and confirmed with a nod.
“the King has returned. ”
After a moment, Ella looked at him with a swerve of her head.
” You mean the King? Where did he go? “With composure, she inquired.
“Yes, two days ago he rode to the witches’ castle to deal with the arrow and poison problem. “Ella’s eyes widened in surprise as Yond said, “It’s excellent that he’s back and safe.”
Whaaaat???
The King rode his horse to the castle of the witches? Do you mean there was a war?? He…. Since she had been attacked, he rode there specifically?
“Don’t get all enthusiastic, Queen,” Yond’s unexpected laughter echoed through the glass. When his laws are disregarded, King Spenser becomes a very angry guy.
He takes being fooled and deceived very personally. Because the King might turn into a monster if he feels betrayed, everyone is cautious to avoid hurting his emotions. He didn’t only go out and face the witches because something bad had occurred to one of his wives; they had also broken the rules and had to be punished. He would have helped anybody in need.
As her attention shifted elsewhere, Ella stopped paying attention.
*He did it because they disobeyed the rules and needed to be dealt with, not because it happened to one of his wives.
“He might be a beast when he’s betrayed,” kept running through her mind. Ella had no idea which of the many options she had to prioritize.
Either he was too afraid of hurting her emotions in the future to go face the witches, or she was too afraid to harm his feelings in the future.
King Spenser dismounted, and grooms stood by to take the different horses for a bath.
His energy levels were low, and he was also starving.
Oh! He has every right to be hungry. Since Ella wasn’t around, he hadn’t eaten or slept. And it was having a profound effect on him.
The last few days of luxury had spoiled him, and he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to handle his former life if he had to return to it after a lengthy absence.
Viscar ran up to him as he dismounted the horse. His voice rang out, “My King,” and Spenser looked up to meet his gaze.
“I appreciate all your hard work at the Witches’ Palace, and I appreciate it much. I appreciate you holding off on throwing the attack”.
Spenser sighed and said, “I did it for you, Viscar. However, you should be aware that if anything like this were to happen again, no one would be spared. ”
“To join me, please. Inquiring about Ella’s well-being is a priority right now. “They both got up and left.
True, it was Viscar who had begged with Spenser to reconsider. He brought up the fact that Sucy was there and had gambled for his life a few weeks earlier. Hence, it’s safe to assume that she was in need of such mercy. Thank goodness Spenser paid attention.
Every soldier and maid they passed on their way to Ella’s chamber bowed to them. Since King Spenser was not the expressive sort, his expressions seldom revealed his inner state. This gave the impression that he was both powerful and intimidating. He ought to be in his own quarters, but instead he went to see how Ella was doing.
When he reached the secured area, the guards bowed to him and unlocked the door. Yond had gone back to scrubbing Ella’s feet and had no clue the King was even approaching.
Therefore, he assumed it was either Queen Diana or a servant when he heard the door open and did not turn around to see who was there.
But he should not have trusted the look on Ella’s face. Once the King was in sight, he turned around.
“My King! ”
Without thinking, he backed away, his head bent.
With her vision blurring, Ella saw the King enter, his gamma trailing after him. He was massive and imposing in his plate armor, and his steely gaze never left her as he strode forward. He had no idea she had woken up again.
Seeing that expression of surprise in her eyes warmed his icy heart. Ella stutteringly called him, “my… king,” and quickly averted her gaze. Bypassing Yond, the king took the position closest to the bed. He remarked, “You’re awake,” his voice cold and somewhat fatigued.
He made a little movement toward Yond. What time did she become alert again? A few… a few minutes ago.
Spenser let out a subtle sigh, then turned to face Ella.
“Just wondering how you’re doing. ”
“My emotions are over the roof right now. ” but she was still awkward about not being able to bow.
When questioned further, the son of the Physician revealed that the King had really departed the palace two days before.
His grumpy voice echoed, “You should take care of yourself, Ella.”
Do not be shy in informing the security staff of your needs.
“O…Okay. ”
What Ella had to say. Spenser nodded, turned, and left without saying another word.
