Before they left, Cody went to the man and beat the shit out of him, taking a lot of pictures.
This man was named Leon. And he was a famous director in this circle. He wanted to replace Paris in a show. Paris thus came up with a way to bribe.
Cody knew this man before. He just didn’t expect this man to be sick enough to touch underaged girls.
Cody sneered in the end. This man would never be able to direct any films in the future.
When they were about to leave, Mia was still thinking about her best friend, “Su-Summer is still in her room. I guess.”
Cody’s jaw tightened, “What, Summer? I searched every room to find you, and I didn’t see your friend anywhere. She must have left you alone.”
Mia looked surprised, “What are you talking about, Cody? Are you telling the truth?”
Cody didn’t even want to cast her a look, “Do I have any reason to lie to you?”
Mia instantly recalled something. Before she passed out, the last memory was Summer handing her a glass of wine.
Did Summer really… betray her?
Mia felt a shiver down her spine. But why? Why would Summer ever do this to her? She thought they were best friends. She bought Summer so much stuff, and she would even take her to different cities to travel.
Why would she do this to her?
Cody drove them back to the town and sent them back to their hotel. Thea and Candace were trying to make Mia calm down when they were back to their suite.
When Mia opened her eyes the next morning, Candace was sleeping next to her yet Thea was nowhere to find.
“Are you awake? Are you feeling any better?” Candace asked.
Mia sat up in her bed, clearing her throat, “I feel better now. Where’s Thea, though?”
“Thea needs to go to the shooting site. She left the crew so hurriedly yesterday, and the director is already a bit mad. So she went back to the crew quite early this morning. Cody went with her. This place is not quite safe for Thea as well. She needs someone to take care of her. Mia, Thea stayed up the whole night to take care of you. She was so worried about you.”
Mia went silent after hearing what Candace said. She remembered last night when Thea burst into the room and beat the shit out of that man like a crazy woman.
She was truly worried about her. She cared about her.
Mia suddenly wanted to cry, “I’m sorry.”
Candace went forth, using a tissue to wipe her tears, “Don’t say that. No one’s mad at you because you’re still a kid. It’s just… It was so dangerous last night. If Cody didn’t send his men to follow you around secretly, you would have…”
Mia blinked, “Cody sent his men to watch over me?”
“Yeah. Cody might appear to be a cold man, but he cares about everyone in the house. He didn’t want to put you in danger, but he also didn’t want to further annoy you. That was the only way he could protect you.” Candace shook her head.
Mia felt even warmer after hearing this. So everyone in the house cared about her safety.
Candace added, “But that friend of yours. You really need to be careful from now on, okay? Cody said he wanted to solve this for you, but he was afraid that you would be mad at him if he intervened. Mia, seriously… We don’t mind how many friends you want to make. But at least try to figure out what kind of person she is before you decide to make friends with her. I know you’re soft for people with difficulties, but some people just don’t deserve your sympathy. They would take your good intention as condescension. Cody and I learned a lot of lessons when we were small kids.”
Mia nodded heavily.
She thought for a second and took out her phone, sending Cody a message to thank him.
And then, she asked Cody to investigate the whole thing for her.
After editing the message, Mia sent Thea a message to thank her as well.
Candace let out a long breath after seeing the girl doing all this.
“I will go get you some food right now. You must stay in the room today, sweetie. Don’t go anywhere, and get some good rest. I didn’t get much sleep last night, either. Now, I need to take a nap. Don’t run around and wait until I wake up, okay?”
“Okay,” Mia nodded heavily, “Thanks for saving me last night, Candace.”
Candace shook her head, “Come on, Mia. You’re the little sister of the family. It’s our job to take care of you.”
Mia leaned forward and hugged Candace.
Cody and Thea both got Mia’s messages.
A faint smile showed up on Cody’s lips.
He had already gotten that little friend of Mia under control.
Now, Summer was held in jail.
It was not hard to find out the person who sent her to do this at all.
Thea was also smiling as she saw Mia’s message. Cody could tell from the way she looked at the message that she was so happy right now.
Her little sister finally accepted her. He knew Thea was a kind and genuine person. He had never worried about the matter between the sisters because he was confident that Thea could win anyone over.
It was just a matter of time. He just hoped that Mia would be able to learn something from this after what happened last night.

Two days later, the case was taken to court. Leon’s career was completely ruined. Summer was also thrown in jail. Leon instantly thought it was a trap. And he was determined to find out who was the one who did that to him.
Mia just wanted to know the reason why Summer did that to her. So, before she went back to her family, she went to jail to see her friend for the one last time.
