Grandpa Weston and Pop were there as well, standing in front of everyone. Thea had heard that the Weston family was a large and prosperous one. Thea didn’t recognize any of the new people who had shown up there, and there were many of them in the gathering. As she stepped out of the vehicle, she had a brief moment of feeling overwhelmed.
One by one, she was presented with those relatives who dressed in their finest attire. She became acquainted with a few academics as well as CEO aunties and uncles. In addition to that, she became acquainted with her relatives, who were students at Harvard and Berkeley.
Several of her distant ancestors had significant roles in the military. And a few of them were operating really successful enterprises. Businesses about which Thea read in the press and learned via the broadcastings. And illustrious public personalities, including a great number of well-known politicians.
It turned out that she was the lone Weston member working in the entertainment industry.
A significant number of Bradleys were there for the celebration as well. Darwin and Jenny were not invited, and Linford made no effort to let anybody else know about this omission on his part.
Thea had imagined what it would be like after Cody explained to her in the car that “some” relatives would come to visit today. She didn’t expect to see an army of them. Thea felt a bit dizzy being pushed around to make self-introductions.
The haze of perfume and fanciness almost made her pass out. She used to think she had seen the most privileged people in this country by working in Showbiz.
But clearly, she hadn’t seen enough of them yet.
Granny and Grace also shared the feelings of being overwhelmed. To their good fortune, Thea had taken care to ensure that they were both dressed appropriately and adorned with jewelry so that they would not have the impression that they were inappropriately attired.
Grandpa called out to Thea, “Demi, come over here,” as he extended his hand to Thea. Thea whirled around to face her mother. Grace had some melancholy, but she managed to muster up the strength to nod at her daughter.
“Just go, honey,” She said through a strained smile.
Thea approached her grandpa, and he held her hand as she got closer to him.
When Grandpa held her hand, there were already a few others in the audience with tears in their eyes.
Grandpa took her to the relatives and introduced her, “This is my son, Brian. You may call him Grandpa.”
Brian was a well-known academic, and he was completely consumed with his research. Even though he only visited his hometown seldom, he was overcome with emotion when he did so, this time to look for his long-lost niece. He then brought out a box that seemed to be of the highest quality and placed it in Thea’s hand while saying, “This is for you, love.”
Thea nodded and smiled sweetly, “Thank you, Grandpa.”
When she opened the box, it was a diamond bracelet.
And it was so freaking heavy. Thea took in a breath at the sight of it. It must be hella expensive.
“This is Drew’s grandmother’s, “Mrs. Weston took a step forward as she smiled at Thea, “Now, it’s yours.”
“I really don’t think I can take this, Grandma,” Thea swallowed, “This is too expensive.”
“Come on, sweetie,” Mrs. Weston said with a grin. “You are the owner of it, and it will look just fantastic on you. Take it, if you please. Please take this so that both your grandfather and I can feel better.”
Thea had no choice but to retain the present.
Apart from that, she also received a car from her aunts and a house from her uncles. Thea’s hands were trembling as she took those keys. She didn’t even bother to get a driver’s license yet.
Now, it seemed like it was really necessary for her to get one. Money was nothing to these people.
Thea knew that.
So she didn’t want to act coy and decline all the gifts. It would ruin the party. She decided to give them back after the party was over.
She could make her own money right now. She really didn’t need these things.
Mia’s eyes never left her sister. She was quite bitter after seeing Thea immediately become the center of attention when she came back.
And those gifts…
Earlier, her Great-grandpa looked at her as if she was the biggest treasure in the whole world. Mia was completely disgusted.
Why couldn’t everyone pay attention to her? Mia found out sadly that no one would even bother to give her an extra look. She felt so frustrated and disappointed.
Before the party came to an end, Mia decided to run.
“Demi, come into the house. I’d like to show you the room you lived in when you were a little baby,” Great-grandpa smiled as he led Thea into the house.
Thea nodded and followed.
Linford and Cristelle were left behind. Cody, however, tried his best to stay very near to Thea.
Honestly, Thea didn’t have any memories of this place anymore. This place felt so unfamiliar to her.
Her Great-grandpa, however, looked quite happy as he pointed at the balcony, “You used to sing and dance there every single day. You wouldn’t go back to sleep until your Mom forced you to do so.”
Thea smiled, “Really? Everyone told me I was quite active as a little girl.”
One of the aunts smiled, “Of course you were. You were full of energy and a small ball of sunshine.”
Another aunt said, “Demi’s smart as a little child. I’m glad she’s grown into such a beautiful and successful young lady. By the way, my daughter is your fan. Would you sign her dress, Thea?”
“Thea! Could you please sign my dress?” The little girl standing beside the elegant woman asked.
Thea laughed, “Of course!”
The kids all like their beautiful cousins. Soon, Thea became friends with all of them. Cody couldn’t stop smiling when Thea played with those little kids.
