“Mia! What’s wrong with you?!” Candace took a step forward and pulled Thea back, so she was standing behind her, “You can’t do this!”
Cristelle and Linford also thought Mia shouldn’t have done that. But her parents were still there. They thus thought that they shouldn’t be the first ones to speak up.
Amy’s hand shot to cover her mouth.
She was a bit shocked, but she was also a bit secretly happy.
“Mia! Apologize to Thea, now!” Fritzi took a step forward with a harsh look on her face.
Mia, however, stood straighter, her voice carried anger and cleared down the corridor, “No! She should be the one who apologizes! She sent Great grandpa into the hospital! She OWES us an apology!”
Cristelle exchanged a look with Linford before walking forth, “Mia, Mr. Weston had said that the whole thing has nothing to do with Thea or her granny. Your great-grandpa is aging. It’s normal for him to feel sick from time to time. You can’t blame it all on Thea. You just hurt Thea. That’s not right. You need to say sorry to Thea right now.”
Thea finally calmed down at that moment. She took in a deep breath before going forward, “It’s okay. Mr. Weston did have a seizure when Granny was around. This is our fault. I apologize. Now, I really think I should leave.”
However, before Thea could turn around, a strong hand suddenly shot out to grab her wrist.
“Thea! Stop,” Cody said with a stern look on his face. He was not here when Thea got slapped. But when he arrived, Logan had explained to him what had just happened.
Thea was shocked to see her Boss. She didn’t want this to turn into an endless drama at all. She knew Cody wouldn’t let it go that easily.
Cody took a step forward, still grabbing Thea’s wrist as he fixed Mia with a stern look, “Apologize to Thea, NOW!”
Mia had never seen Cody being this serious. She was a bit pale as she took a step back, but the look on her face was still stubborn, “No! Are you serious, Cody?! How long have you known her? How could you treat you even better than us? We grew up with you. Are you seriously trying to make me embarrassed before everyone because of an outsider?” Mia didn’t flinch. She was the youngest, making her the most spoiled one in the three families.
“Don’t let me say that again, Mia,” Cody’s face remained harsh, “Apologize. To. Her. Now.”
Mia was startled. She looked around. Everyone looked disappointed except Amy. She stared at Amy, waiting for her to say something, but Amy didn’t want to make Cody angry. She just looked away.
“No!” Mia hissed as she turned to Cody again, “Are you expecting me to say sorry to a fake bitch who stepped into our houses And pretended to be one of us? She doesn’t even belong to our world! She’s just a showgirl who couldn’t be where she is right now without your power! Do you want me to apologize to a person like that? It will never ha-”
SLAP!
Drew took a step forward and slapped his daughter across her face.
Mia went frozen for a second, and then she ran away crying.
“I’m so sorry, Thea.” Drew turned to look at Thea apologetically, “Mia is too spoiled. We should have taught her better.”
“Please don’t blame yourself, Mr. Weston,” Thea said, “Mia’s just too young. I believe she’s a good kid, and she will think it through afterward.”
Thea tried to stay calm, but the way Drew stared at her made her a bit uncomfortable. The man couldn’t take his eyes away.
Cody noticed the weirdness and put a hand on her back, “You must be quite tired, Thea. Let me drive you back.”
“I… I’m okay, Boss…” Thea went a bit blushed as Cody got so close to her in front of everyone, “I can call Daisy.”
“It’s okay,” Cody smiled, trying to comfort her, “We’re sorry about what just happened. This is the least I can do to make it up for you.”
Thea thought for a second and dropped her gaze, “Fine.”
She didn’t see the burning jealousy under Amy’s eyes when she turned away.
****
“Amy… Why are you still standing here?” Candace noticed her best friend was standing there alone after everyone had left.
“Candace, would you tell me the truth?” Amy suddenly turned around with a serious look on her face.
“What?” Candace was a bit confused.
“Is Thea Todd in love with Cody?” Amy asked seriously.
Candace bit her tongue. She didn’t know how to answer this question. The feelings between Thea and Cody were their own business. She didn’t feel it appropriate to discuss this behind their backs.
Seeing Candace had no intention of answering her question, Amy continued asking, “Candace, if Thea and I are both in love with Cody, who will you help? Which side will you choose?”
Candace suddenly had a headache. Why did she have to make a choice? This was not even her business.
She didn’t like it when people forced her to make a decision. “Amy… I… I’m sorry.” Candace sighed, “I really don’t know.”
“Come on,” Amy sounded a bit desperate, “It’s just taking a side. It’s not that hard.”
“I won’t take sides, Amy,” Candace was getting a bit annoyed, “It’s Cody’s own business. I won’t interfere! Amy, why are you even asking me? You should ask Cody directly about his feelings.”
Amy forced out a smile, “I’m sorry… Candace. I was just… I don’t even know what I’m thinking about. Please forget what I just said… I hope you won’t be mad at me.”
Candace felt so awkward, and she only wanted to leave this place, “I know… Um… The ward probably needs me to be there to take care of Mr. Weston… I’ll see you later…”
“Okay.” Amy’s smile was immaculate.
However, her hands balled up into fists as Candace walked off, her long nails digging into her flesh.
What was so good about this Thea Todd? She even made her childhood friend betray her! She swore that she wouldn’t let that bitch get what she wanted!
