Candace showed Thea her phone, and Thea saw a post on Twitter.
Someone posted photos where she walked into Cody’s house. The discussions under the photos were outrageous.
“And the person who shot the photos said Thea stayed in that mansion overnight. She hasn’t come out yet.”
“I bet they made this up. You can only see her clothes. You can’t even see her face that clearly. How could you be sure that this is definitely Thea?”
“No wonder those people said she had a sugar daddy. It seems like the news is true after all.”
“You guys didn’t recognize this house? This house belongs to Cody Bradley, the son of Linford Bradley and the company behind The Top Girlband! No wonder Thea’s so lucky during the competition. She has big figures behind her.”
“Is she really a mistress of one of those Hollywood tycoons? Eww… Whore.”
“My brother likes her so much. I’m gonna tell him about this. He should have supported Tiffany rather than this girl.”
“Can you guys stop bullying her? Thea would never do something like this! I will always support her!”
“That’s right! We will stand with her!”
“Hey! This is her personal life. None of you have any right to say anything about it.”
Thea couldn’t believe someone was actually following her around the whole time to take these photos. She didn’t know that she was that famous.
“How did they manage to take these photos? I didn’t even notice them.” Thea suddenly had a headache. It was a bit scary having all those people following her around.
“They wouldn’t be professionals if you could find them,” Candace tried to comfort her, “It’s okay, Thea. Cody will take care of this issue.”
“But how is anyone gonna take care of this?” Thea buried her face in her arms helplessly. “We can’t let Cody stand for me and tell the public who he is, can we?”
“Only idiots will use those sorts of solutions,” Cody shook his head before whirling his laptop around to show them.
The official account of The Top Girlband just posted a video clip. Thea’s eyes widened as she noticed that it was the clip where she was locked in the dorm.
And she was late for the rehearsal by that time. However, the person who locked the door from the outside was blurred out.
All her fans were genuinely getting angry at how Thea was bullied in the show. The next phone recording posted made them even more outraged.
The caller’s voice had also been altered, so the caller’s identity couldn’t be revealed. But the caller was clearly telling someone to target Thea.
“Holy!” Thea’s mouth fell open. She couldn’t believe Cody would use the show’s official account to do a quick revelation.
But hadn’t Cody already known who was trying to bully her all this time? Why didn’t he reveal that bully’s true identity?
Thea thought for a second and got the answer. The reason was Cody had a great plan.
The show was still relying on the competitors, and they still needed stars after all.
Cody only wanted to save Thea from the scandals, and he only needed to prove Thea was innocent. He didn’t need to offend other celebrities for her.
Besides, the investigation skills of netizens these days are crazy. Even though the face and voice were blurred, they would still find out who the bully was sooner or later.
“That’s smart!” Thea murmured to herself.
Cody protected her and his show at the same time. He solved the scandal without costing anyone. He was a smart businessman like his father indeed.
“Told ya my brother will solve the problem swiftly,” Candace grinned as she put a hand on Thea’s shoulder.
Thea nodded before turning to face Cody again, “Thank you so much.”
Cody looked away, “Just like I said, I’m not doing this for you.”
“I know.” Thea’s eyes were bright and beautiful under the morning light, “But still…. Thank you.”
Cody cleared his throat, “Have you offended any big figures recently? Someone clearly plots these things. I don’t believe people would come up with these so randomly. It must be organized.”
“I… don’t think so.” Thea frowned. But Derek’s face suddenly showed up in her head.
Could it be him? Was he doing this because she refused his invitation last time? Thea wasn’t sure.
“You need to be really careful from now on,” Candace patted Thea’s shoulder, “Don’t let those bad people have any chance to harm you. As for the competition… You’ve already done great. Just keep doing what you’re doing. I bet you will get to the top. Even if you can’t, my brother will still sign you and make you a popular artist!”
“How many shares do you own in my company, Candace Bradley?” Cody arched an eyebrow, “I didn’t know you had a say when it comes to signing an artist.”
Candace stuck her tongue out, “I’m doing you a favor. Be nice.”
Cody glared at his twin and walked away. He sent Matt out when he got back to his office, asking him to find a girl and make her dress similar to Thea.
Matt found a maid in the house, asking her to put on Thea’s clothes and go out. Soon, the gossip online was corrected. It turned out the girl they got on cameras this morning was not Thea. That girl was just a maid working in the Bradley house, which looked like Thea.
Thea’s fans started celebrating online, saying they were thankful for haters because they strained their little brains to make up so much bullshit to entertain the whole internet.
Thea almost choked on her coffee as she read those comments.
Matt secretly sent Thea back, ensuring no one would catch them on camera.
The sweet short break ended quite soon. Three days passed quickly, and it was time to return to the show.
Thea woke up early the next morning, returning to the filming site. When she walked toward her dorm, she found out that the way people looked at her was so different compared to before. Most of them looked curious. But some of them also walked forth to talk to her, all flattering and friendly.
Thea was surprised. But she also didn’t miss out on the secret jealousy under their tones.
