They arrived at the hospital soon.
Candace still stood there, “Cody! You can do this! You’re the best!”
Cristelle took her daughter to the side, “Hush. Keep it down. Your brother will be fine.”
“Okay,” Candace nodded obediently.
Linford seemed to be quite calm. He went to the corridor and found a bench to settle down on. He didn’t seem to be worried at all.
Candace sat next to him, asking, “Dad, my brother will be fine, right?” She heard that Cody should have left the scene safely when he did that mission.
However, he fell from a cliff to save a little girl.
That was why he got a severe injury. Candace loved her brother deeply. When she was just a little girl, she adored her brother like her dad. Cody had been just like a father to her, too, when they still hadn’t found Linford.
Cody inherited his father’s cruel attitude, but that didn’t stop him from protecting Candace.
Linford held Candace to his side, “Your brother will be fine, sweetie. He’s so strong like me.”
Cristelle walked around anxiously, “Why did you look so serious back then? You scared me.”
Linford played dumb, “I don’t think so. You took it wrong. I’m just trying to remind the boy to be more alert since he’s too self-assured for his own good.”
Cristelle cast him a look and shook her head. Couldn’t the son and father stop fighting? So many years had gone by, but these two kept fighting each other until now.
She wondered how Cody was doing there. Cristelle was so anxious about the outcome.

Thea, Zoey, and Matt were in the observation room with Cody. Cody stood up slowly based on the expert’s instruction. He took a couple of steps forward.
“Cody! You can walk now!” Zoey was so excited.
Cody only walked a couple of steps, but his forehead had already been covered in a cold sweat.
“Sir! You’re amazing!” Matt clapped his hands excitedly.
Cody’s forehead was still covered in sweat as he walked toward his wheelchair.
The nurse pushed the wheelchair in Cody’s direction. Cody had already performed extremely well. He couldn’t push it anymore, and he had already done his best.
However, the nurse was too nervous, and she used too much strength as she pushed the wheelchair.
The wheelchair was so heavy. If it hit Cody, all his recovery would be wasted. He could spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair forever.
“Sir!” Zoey screamed.
Thea moved swiftly forward immediately and kicked the wheelchair away. Cody collapsed, but Thea supported his weight with her body, ensuring he didn’t fall off the cold floor.
Matt pushed the wheelchair over. Cody sat in it again, feeling a bit relieved as Cristelle wiped his sweat gently.
Candace was so scared that her tears rose in her eyes, “Cody!” She pulled Cody into a tight hug.
Cody couldn’t even breathe, but he didn’t push his sister away, knowing she was seriously freaked up. He patted her head gently, “It’s okay. I’m okay.”
Candace looked up, choking on her tears, “I was so scared. I thought your spine would be hit again, and you could never stand up forever.”
“But I didn’t hit anywhere, did I?” Cody smiled, “Alright, stop crying, silly girl.”
The doctors were scared as well, “Mr. Bradley… We’re so sorry. Our intern is a bit clumsy.”
“It’s okay. Don’t blame anyone. It’s just an accident,” Cody quickly responded, diffusing the tension, “Gotta thank you, a super smart bunch, for getting me to walk again.”
The roomful of doctors started to laugh. Thea’s face was glowing with a warm smile. This man might usually appear to be arrogant and annoying, but he was really a nice person.
When they left the hospital, Drew suddenly caught up with them, “Wait! Is Cody okay? I heard there was an accident?”
Drew would have come if Cody insisted that he didn’t want too many people around when he was instructed to walk like a lab monkey.
Cody smiled gently, “I’m feeling great now, Uncle Drew.”
Drew let out a breath, “I’m glad you’re doing okay.”
Cody turned to Cristelle, “Mom, can you make me some pizza this noon? I’m a bit hungry.”
“Of course, baby, I’ll cook you anything you like,” Cristelle leaned forward and left a kiss on top of Cody’s head.
Looking at them, Thea smiled. Cristelle reminded her of her mom and granny at home.
Drew patted Cody’s shoulder, “I see the boy is doing great. I feel much relieved now. I still got patients back in the hospital. Gotta go.”
With that, the doctor turned around and went back to the hospital.
Thea stared at the man as he walked away. She couldn’t explain why, but whenever she laid her eyes on this doctor, a strange feeling just started to churn in her chest, making her wanna cry.
She could tell that Doctor Weston was not happy most of the time, even when he laughed the loudest. Something must have happened a long time ago to make this happy man constantly feel sad.
“Thea… Thea? It’s time to go.” Candace ran over, hooking Thea’s arm with hers, “Why are you staring at Uncle Drew? Do you know Doctor Weston?”
“Nope,” Thea shook her head, pulled back to reality, “He just felt familiar.”
“Yeah. You’re right.” Candace smiled brightly, “Doctor Drew is always friendly and approachable. I was in bad condition when I was young, and I didn’t want to see other people except for Mom and Cody. Doctor Weston is the first stranger I ever talked to. That guy is always full of positive energy. But after De-”
“Candace! That’s enough!” Cristelle suddenly snapped.
Candace covered her mouth instantly, “Sorry. I didn’t mean to…” She sneaked a glance at her brother.
Cody forced out a smile, “It doesn’t matter. It’s all passed. Candace can talk about anything she wants.”
Cristelle shook her head as she held the car door open.
Thea narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
After what? What made Doctor Weston change?
She wanted to ask more, but Cody was waiting for her help to climb into the car. Matt and Zoey couldn’t finish the job without Thea. Thea went forward, helping them to push Cody’s chair onto the ramp.
