Thea smiled, “My name is Thea. I’m Cody’s private nurse.”
Mr. Weston smiled, “Good. I hope you’re taking care of Cody carefully every day.”
Thea nodded, “I’m still learning to be a good nurse.”
Franco smiled at Mr. Weston.
Cody frowned a bit. Why couldn’t she just say “nurse”? Why did she have to add a “private” before it? Was she implying something? Was she trying to show their closeness to them, wasn’t she?
Logan and Mia both wanted to talk to Cody. But Cody decided to stay in the greenhouse with the two old men. They thus didn’t dare to get in.
There was only one reason. Their great-grandfather was too strict. They always got scolded when they were around him. They thus tried their best to avoid him all the time.
Logan sighed, “Cody is so brave.”
Drew knocked his son’s head, “Do you really think everyone’s like you? If you’re as brilliant as Cody, your great-grandpa will also be proud of you.”
Logan rolled his eyes, “I would have become a soldier if my heart was not that weak… might even have done a bigger service than him.”
Drew frowned and looked away, “Stop saying that nonsense. Go play chess with your Uncle Linford.”
“No problem,” The other person Logan liked the best in the Bradley house was Linford. He thought he and his Uncle Linford shared the same destiny. Unfortunately, both of them couldn’t get into the army for some special reasons, and they were forced to take over their family’s business empire.
Logan felt he could relate to Linford so much.

Cody chatted with the two old men in the greenhouse for a while. And then, the two old men both went a bit tired.
Cody left the greenhouse. Jack went to take the two old men to get some rest.
“Cody, you’re finally out. I’ve lost three rounds to your Dad,” Logan took Cody as his savior, running over in a hurry the moment Cody got out of the greenhouse.
Cody shook his head, “I don’t wanna play any chess today. I only want to watch TV for a while.”
“Fine…” Logan sighed. And then, he started to watch some financial news with Cody.
Drew thus went to play chess with Linford. They had been friends for decades. And they had so many topics to talk about. They started to chat as they played chess, eyes darting toward the kids occasionally. Both of them felt quite at ease.
Candace took Mia upstairs to try on some new clothes. They seemed like they had a lot to talk about too.
After lunch, everyone started to take some rest. Drew proposed to play chess again.
“Cody, I still want to chat a bit with Fritzi. Do you want to play chess with your Dad?” Cristelle wanted her son to spend more time with his father.
Cody had nothing to do anyway. So he agreed.
Linford and Cody thus started to play chess by the table in the garden. Other people were sitting on the bench and admiring the flowers.
“Thea, could you get me an orange?”
Cody suddenly asked.
Thea happened to be sitting next to Cody.
So she stood up and went to the kitchen, finding some oranges for Cody and bringing them to the table.
When Cody was pondering where to put his chess piece, Thea was peeling oranges for him. And then, she started to feed Cody peeled oranges as Cody played chess. Everyone started to get a bit surprised. They hadn’t seen Cody act so intimate with anyone before.
He even seldom let any women get that close to him. When did he change abruptly?
As surprised as they were, no one asked any questions.
Cody played for a while and then got a bit tired. So he asked, “Thea, do you know how to play chess?”
Thea nodded subconsciously, “Yep. But just a little.”
“Would you play for a while for me? I need to take a bit of rest,” Cody yawned.
Thea looked a bit hesitant, “Are you sure? I will probably lose.”
Cody smirked, “What? Do you prefer peeling oranges rather than playing chess? Come on, just try. It will be fun.”
Thea could only sigh and budged over. Candace and Mia happened to walk downstairs at that moment. They all sat down and started to watch.
Thea focused on the chessboard. Knowing Cody would be sarcastic again if she lost. She thus tried to predict Linford’s movement.
The game was a tie at the beginning. But Thea gradually turned the table and ended up winning. Cody was impressed.
“Wow! Thea! You’re amazing! YOU WON!” Candace exclaimed and looked pretty excited.
No one had ever managed to win against her Dad before! Cody pushed his wheelchair closer and glanced at the chessboard closely, “I didn’t know you’re an expert. You are being too humble.”
“Well… It’s really no big deal, actually,” Thea smiled gently.
Drew couldn’t believe a random girl could beat Linford. So he also came to the table and asked to play with Thea.
Thea ended up winning him as well.
Everyone was impressed by how good she was.
Candace was still trying to know Thea’s secret of winning against her Dad during the dinner.
Thea was lost for words. She thus only told the girl that she was simply being lucky.
After dinner, Candace suggested going to karaoke. They had a karaoke house in the mansion because Candace loved singing when she was a teenager. Mia also wanted to sing.
Cristelle thus decided to bring them over. Cody, however, said he didn’t want to go. Cristelle whined and shook Cody’s arm, begging him to go with them.
Cody couldn’t stand that, and he yielded in the end.
Linford was not happy. Cristelle didn’t even invite him.
When they got to the karaoke room, Cristelle got everyone some drinks before she took out the microphones, asking, “Who wants to sing first?”
“Me! I’ll be the first!” Mia took the microphone and cleared her throat. She started to sing the instrumental song of one of Ariana Grande’s songs.
However, as beautiful as she was, her singing was torture.
But no one said anything as they didn’t want to hurt Mia rudely.
Logan stood up first to stop his sister from torturing everyone’s ear.
Mia didn’t seem to care as she laughed and threw the microphone away.
And then, the girl suddenly turned to Thea, “Thea, why don’t you sing for us? I bet you definitely sing beautifully!”
“Me?” Thea was dumbfounded.
