Her eyes had been sharp and fierce like knives. He didn’t believe those ambitious eyes belonged to someone who would settle for an ordinary job like this.
Thea froze. How did he know she was hiding herself the whole time?
Thea felt horribly exposed. She felt her heart skip a beat for being truly seen as who she was.
People said Cody Bradley was a genius. It seemed like he really was.
However, Thea could only force out a smile, “You’re definitely going crazy, boss.”
Cody shook his head, shrugging, “Probably.”

Honer Entertainment was a newly founded enterprise focusing on star-making and movie shooting. Cody Bradley was their boss.
Today was the day when Cody negotiated with the representative from a video website, Majo, discussing the new project they were gonna work on hand in hand.
Thea picked Cody’s outfit today. Cody looked extremely handsome in that tailored suit. Standing before the mirror, Cody couldn’t believe how great Thea’s taste was.
It was weird.
Thea tended to dress herself modestly. Cody wanted to ask, but he knew it would make him look like he was poking his nose into other people’s life.
After getting in the car, they drove to Cody’s company.
Thea went to the meeting room first when Cody went to the lobby to meet the representative. Before they came, Thea cleaned the meeting room again and ensured the arrangement was excellent. After the representative and Cody came, she poured them coffee and helped Cody sit in his chair.
Cody turned to smile at her. Thea felt appreciated.
“Mr. Bradley, why don’t you check out the terms first? Our lawyer team just made this contract. Let’s sign the contract today if you don’t see any problems. What do you say?” The representative seemed pretty eager about their upcoming cooperation.
Cody opened the contract and read it at a breakneck speed.
The representative thought Cody wouldn’t notice some details they made to gain bigger profits. Instead, he was smiling as Cody read the contract.
However, to his surprise, Cody suddenly threw the folder on the contract; his lips tightened, “I don’t think we should continue this meeting anymore, sir. You don’t need to force yourself if you don’t want to cooperate with us.”
“What are you talking about, Mr. Bradley? Of course, we want this cooperation.” The representative hurried to say.
“Then what is term number 12? What does that even mean? Are you playing tricks with me? Do you take me as a fool?” Cody pointed out sharply.
The representative went pale. The lawyer promised that no one could see the loophole in the contract except people who graduated from famous law schools.
How did Cody Bradley notice that? Was he really as much a genius as people said?
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Mr. Bradley. It must be a stupid mistake our lawyer made.” The representative forced out a smile, “We’ll have this contract fixed. Please, sir. We really need this cooperation. Our company is facing a crisis right now. We would go bankrupt without this deal.”
“I don’t think so,” Cody said coldly, “The one thing I despise the most is dishonesty. There are a lot of websites that want to collaborate with us. We don’t need to work with someone who plays tricks on the terms. It’s disgusting!”
“Sir… You can’t just abandon us,” The representative went anxious, “I’m sorry, but I promise you that I….”
The representative shot up from his seat and lurched forward. He accidentally knocked Cody’s wheelchair over.
Thea gasped as she dashed forward. Since she had no other options at the moment, she lurched to the side and caught Cody with her body. Cody thought he would hit the cold hard floor, but the next second, he just fell against a warm and soft body.
Cody was as tall as a tower, and his weight was no joke. Thea felt a huge impact and groaned in pain.
The representative knew he had just made another stupid mistake, and he just sprinted to the door.
“Hey! Thea!” Cody patted Thea’s face, “Are you okay?”
“Ow!” Thea winced, “I’ll definitely be better if you get off me.”
Cody used his hands to prop himself up and rolled over. Thea finally could breathe. She stood up and braced her arms against the table, waiting for the dizziness to wear off.
And then, she turned around and started to help Cody get into his wheelchair.
“You didn’t hurt anywhere, did you?” Cody asked worriedly.
“I’m fine… Just a bit dizzy. Hell, you’re heavy.” Thea shook her head as she dragged Cody upward.
“Why did you even do that? Why are you using your body as a meat mat?” Cody asked angrily, “Don’t you know it’s dangerous? I could have hit your organs, and you will get some internal bleeding.”
“Wow, no, ‘Thea, you’re my hero?’ No, Thea, thanks for saving my life?” Thea asked.
“I paid you to be my nurse. I don’t need a hero. It’s a bodyguard’s job,” Cody frowned.
“Well, none of your bodyguards were around, were they?” Thea’s hands were on her hips.
“I don’t want to talk about them,” Cody shook his head, “Why did you do that? It’s stupid and dangerous. I would get a bit of a scrape if I fell out of my wheelchair. But you use your body to catch my weight, and the wheelchairs would have cost your life.”
“I don’t know. I wasn’t thinking,” Thea sighed, “I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
“You don’t want me to get hurt?” Cody arched an eyebrow.
“Ye-yeah…” Thea went suspiciously red, “You’re my boss. I get paid. Remember?”
“Are you having a crush on me, Thea?” Cody grinned.
“Yeah, right,” Thea rolled her eyes.
“It’s not gonna happen, you and me,” Cody briefly mentioned.
Thea froze.
She knew it was probably a joke. Even if it were not a joke, she still wouldn’t mind because it was not like she really liked this sadist. He was too arrogant for her.
She knew she probably should say something sarcastic to tease him back, but the different word slipped off her tongue was, “Why?”
“Why?” Cody also seemed like he didn’t expect her to ask that, “No, why. Just because….” The young man whirled his wheelchair around to face the window, his lips tight and his face closed.
“I’m not in love with you, Mr. Bradley,” Thea rolled her eyes, “You’re really overthinking it now.”
