Cody was in the study room with his assistant, Matt. He seemed pretty surprised as he saw Thomas walk in, “What the heck are you doing here?”
“I’m here to visit my bestie!” Thomas said energetically.
Cody massaged his temple as he shut his eyes, “I thought you were in Paris.”
“What? You don’t wanna see me here?” Thomas asked pitifully, seemingly sounding hurt.
“No… I just rather that you’re still in Paris,” Cody started to have a headache after hearing Thomas’ response.
“Matt, my bestie doesn’t like me,” Thomas pouted.
“Good morning, Mr. Watson,” The smile on Matt’s face was professional.
“Thomas, would you grab some snacks and sit on the couch while Matt and I have this conversation about our company’s quarter profits?” Cody asked.
Thomas’s face went dark, “Are you telling me to shut up?”
“Yes,” Cody responded directly.
“Then can I play your PS5?” Thomas asked cheerfully, throwing his hands in the air.
“Be my guest,” Cody sighed.
Thomas went to the corner of the study room happily
“So…. where are we?” Cody whirled his wheelchair to face Matt again.
“The business has been on the right track recently. We’ve invested in two seasons of the new show. And the selection of new stars is also on board. The manager said it will be held next year.”
Cody nodded, “Not bad. What else?”
“And…” Matt frowned a bit, “We still don’t have enough actors and actresses. Should we dig from other companies?”
Cody shook his head, “Actors and actresses will come to us after the show is aired. You can handle things easily. I trust your ability to handle emergencies. Just don’t miss out on any talents. We can’t afford to let them slip away right now.”
“Of course, sir.”

Cody had appointments in the hospital every week. Usually, Matt and Zoey would take him to the hospital. But now, it was basically Thea’s job. Thea was so nervous as this was the first time she drove Cody to the hospital. Even though it was under Zoey’s supervision, she still couldn’t stop shuddering as she thought she would one day take Cody to the hospital alone.
The luckiest thing was, however, the doctor actually seemed like a really great person.
The doctor’s eyes lingered shortly on Thea’s face and held out a hand, “You must be Cody’s new martyr. I’m Drew, thanks for your sacrifice.”
“Uncle Drew…” Cody rolled his eyes after Drew’s exaggerated remarks.
“Martyr 201,” Thea kept a straight face, “I got a number.”
“Wow, that’s impressive,” Drew smiled, “I like this girl, Cody. She’s quite smart and witty.”
Thea got a two-hour break when they were doing the checkups.
Cody’s spine was injured, but it was not completely hopeless. Through some high-tech medical miracles, he would probably walk one day. That was why the checkup was scheduled more often weekly.
Thea enjoyed her shopping in the nearest strip mall.
Afterward, she returned to the hospital and picked Cody and Zoey up.
Matt had already been waiting by the door when they got home.
The assistant came forth to help with Cody’s wheelchair as he reported nervously, “Sir… Miss Watson just came. She’s waiting for you in the living room right now.”
Cody looked slightly annoyed, “Haven’t I told you not to let her visit me again?”
“Geez, we can’t even visit you, Bill Gates?” Candace teased as she walked out of the house.
Cody didn’t look happy, “I just don’t see the necessity.” Saying that, Matt and Thea had put his wheelchair down.
Matt went to drive the car into the garage while Thea pushed Cody’s wheelchair into the house.
“How are you feeling today, Cody?” Amy asked as she walked out of the door as well.
She looked as pretty as always.
“Not bad,” Cody cast Amy a short look before turning to his sister again, “Candace, you just got your new job. You should be working right now, not coming to my place.”
Candace went speechless, facing this massive workaholic. Amy also looked a bit embarrassed. She thought Cody would be happy to see her. However, things just turned out to be different.
“Cody… Can’t we take a day off?” Candace pouted, “You’re being so serious and killing all the vibes.”
Cody just shook his head disapprovingly.
“Um, is this lady your new nurse?” Amy tried to change the topic.
“Yeah. She’s Thea.” Cody looked up into Thea’s eyes before gesturing at Candace and Amy, “This is my little sister, Candace, and her friend, Amy.”
The way Cody looked at Thea made Amy frown. Either she was delusional, or Cody’s eyes softened a little when he met that fat nurse’s eyes.
Amy’s eyes fell on Thea judgmentally. This woman looked like she was in her 30s, and she had some obvious wrinkles under her eyes and serious skin issues. Her body was plump like a balloon.
Amy suddenly felt less worried after she had a general idea of Thea’s face and body.
Cody would be crazy to have feelings for a woman like this.
Cody didn’t like being visited that often. But he was still polite enough to keep them both for lunch. After Amy and Candace left, Cody spent most of his afternoon in his study room.
Thea was the only one who asked to stay. She was reading a magazine on the couch, occasionally getting up to help Cody get his coffee or meds.
“I have a meeting tomorrow at the company. You should come with me,” Cody suddenly said while he was reading a report from his laptop.
Thea’s hands faltered as she heard what Cody said, “Why?”
“Because I’m your boss, and your boss asked you to come,” Cody casually explained.
That was some perfect logic Thea couldn’t argue with. “Okay,” she shrugged and kept pouring Cody some tea.
“I’m asking you to come because I think you’re more capable of pouring my tea and cleaning the house,” Cody suddenly added.
“And what made you think that way?” Thea asked, smiling.
“Your eyes, Thea,” the handsome young man said calmly, “I know I might sound crazy. But sometimes, I feel your appearance is just a disguise, and your eyes are the only real thing about you that has been revealed.” Cody couldn’t stop thinking about the day when she stood up against him and spoke up for herself.
