Drew was thrilled after hearing Alfred’s report, “These people are so foolish. They came back and waited to pounce at you after hearing you’re going through a difficult stage.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure they like what they’re gonna witness soon,” Linford snapped coldly.
The day came pretty fast. Linford was planning to give everyone a surprise. When the trial of the real Melody began, everyone’s attention in this city was fixed on their televisions.
Melody looked solemn as she went to the court, escorted by two police officers, “At first, Miles asked me to seduce Isaac Friesley as he wanted to dig something dirty about Isaac in his hands. So he could control him. I had been together with Isaac for 20 years. I’d tried to get money for the Johnson family. Barnett and Lim were also a part of this. The two families basically rose using Isaac’s power. But when Isaac went to jail, these people just abandoned him. They decided to be Johnson’s lapdogs.”
Every citizen before the TV was swearing. They didn’t know the Johnson House was so powerful to the extent that they could control the economy of the city. This was absolutely outrageous!
“They sent me aboard after Isaac went to jail. Mr. Johnson explicitly told me that he didn’t want to see my face again or he would strangle me to death using his own hands. And… thanks to Issac’s efforts to save me. The Johnson family wanted me to die, but Isaac threatened them, saying that he kept some evidence of their crimes. Isaac told them that he wouldn’t give out the evidence as long as they would hurt him. That’s how I survived.”
No one expected Isaac to be genuinely in love with this third wheel.
Cristelle and Claire both felt utterly disgusted. Their Mom didn’t even cross that man’s mind when he was gonna be thrown in jail.
Both sisters had the heart to spit on Isaac’s face when they thought about what their poor mother had gone through.
“Then… Do you know anything about Clyde Bradley’s death?” The lawyer asked.
Melody had regained her composure, “Johnson’s family is not clean. Apart from their legal businesses, they’re also working with drug lords out of the states. But after the law revolutions and reinforcement, their illegal businesses encountered trouble. However, they still earned plenty based on what they had. Mr. Johnson got money from Cuba every year. They got a group of men specializing in handling dirty work for them. I used to be one of the girl squad members. We specialize in entertaining their clients. The men Johnson sent to watch over and control us were monsters.” Melody shuddered, “Clyde Bradley investigated their whole business through me. The three families didn’t want Clyde to expose them because that would cost their businesses a massive downfall, so they’d been planning to kill Clyde. I still remember what happened that day. Isaac hung up a call and told me that the Bradley mansion had been surrounded. They asked him for help, but Isaac didn’t know if he should save them or not. On the one hand, he wanted to keep the secret from Johnson. On the other hand, he was also afraid that Bradley House would get back at him if he refused to help them then… A girl called when Issac was hesitant. I believe it was the daughter of the White family, Lana White. She asked Isaac not to save Clyde first. Isaac seemed relaxed after the call. He called his men and told them to halt the help for Bradley’s.”
The crowd erupted into a low murmur. Linford clenched his teeth as his hands balled up into two trembling fists.
Cristelle grabbed his hand quietly. Linford looked at her and squeezed her soft hand back.
“How could you be sure that the caller was Lana White?” The lawyer asked.
“I was right next to Isaac back then. He told me everything. He even told me that Lana White was jealous because Clyde married another woman. Isaac also mentioned that people from the White family were also doing that mission with Clyde. If the White family can’t save him, he also can’t do it too.”
“Was the White family involved in Johnson’s business then?”
Melody let out a breath, “I don’t think so. Isaac said Mrs. White was a smart woman. Mr. White had passed away because of the Johnson family actually. That was why Mrs. White would never get herself involved in their business.”
No one expected to hear that. All the journalists were so excited. They knew that they wouldn’t be lacking the things they were gonna publish for the next whole month as this revelation is a big scope.
Alfred went over, whispering to Linford’s ear, “Sir, the result is out. Just as you expected, frozen semen was just an excuse. It’s a clue that led to the evidence Clyde left behind. Our men are sending the evidence to the lawyers right now.”
The Johnson family thought the court couldn’t drag them down as they thought there was no single evidence left, but they didn’t expect Clyde to leave all the evidence behind.
The powerful Johnson family thus collapsed overnight.
The Lim and Barnett family panicked after watching the trial. They tried to leave the city, but the police stopped them before they could run away.
Everything turned out to be a trap set up by Linford to get them in jail.
All their properties were frozen for legal reasons, and they didn’t even stand a chance to fight back.
Sooner, Mr. Johnson received a call from someone on time and told him to run away. If Mr. Johnson ended up being thrown in jail, the man behind him would also be exposed.
However, Linford had already sent his men to keep an eye on Mr. Johnson. So the old man was caught before he could make it to another country.
All businesses of Johnson were cut off within a month. Mr. Johnson was also thrown in jail.
Isaac Friesley tried to see the son and daughter Melody gave him. However, the children turned out to be the twins Melody had with a man from the Johnson family.
Isaac lost all his hope and killed himself in jail.
Cristelle and Claire didn’t get sad after knowing the piece of information. Their good father had told his enemies that half of the evidence he had was with Claire, making Claire those men’s target. What kind of father would ever do that? Claire found it quite hard to feel sad when she knew her father had died.
