Looking at these younger generations was just disappointing. They couldn’t even rescue a child!
“Don’t get angry. There must be something that went wrong. Those kidnappers wanted 10% of the White’s stocks. The deal is huge. They wouldn’t let you succeed so easily without getting their goal.” Franco tried to make his old friend feel better.
Mr. Weston knew Franco’s opinion actually made sense. He just couldn’t stop worrying and felt upset as their plan failed.

Mrs. White slumped into her chair after getting the news from the newspaper. Mr. Weston just sent a signal in the same way, and she deciphered it. She couldn’t believe that Mr. Weston had got exposed before he could finish the rescue plan!
She used her connections and did a little investigation. It turned out her good grandson had gone to the police station without telling her.
“What have you done?!” Mrs. White screamed at Marcos and Yuri when they came to her study room.
Yuri went pale, but she refused to apologize. She hated it when Mrs. White didn’t take any action after Betty was kidnapped. She didn’t see the need to apologize when what they did was to save their own daughter.
Marcos, however, looked extremely guilty. He walked forth, trying to tell his grandma the truth.
Yuri instantly grabbed Marcos’ arm to stop him from spilling the information.
Mrs. White narrowed her eyes, “I tried so hard to contact the Weston family. They finally agreed to rescue Betty. However, right before their actions, the rescue was just exposed! All the clues about Betty were instantly gone. All the efforts have been wasted! I just got another call from the kidnappers this morning. They said if I dared to make any moves again, they wouldn’t let us see Betty alive. Now, TELL ME THE TRUTH!”
Yuri and Marcos’ mouths fell open. They were soon covered in a cold sweat.
“Then why… why didn’t you tell us when you contacted Mr. Weston?” Yuri was sad and angry, “I am Betty’s mother! I have the right to know what you’re planning!”
Mrs. White suddenly realizes that the wife she picked for his grandson is an utter moron, “We have been watched, Yuri! I asked the driver to take me to Mr. Weston’s house last time, and the kidnapper’s call just came in on time! They know what we are doing! I can’t tell anyone if I want to ask for help from my closest friends! If things didn’t go wrong, I wouldn’t even need to mention this to you! Now, thanks to the two of you, the rescue is an utter failure! Why did no one bother to ask me before you both went to the police? You both are morons!”
Yuri only realized at this moment that she had taken Mrs. White seriously wrong.
Mrs. White looked pale and covered her forehead with her wrinkled hand, “Those kidnappers tried to kidnap Candace, but Candace and Betty have similar bags, so they mistakenly took our little girl. The kidnappers could be family members of those victims in that neighborhood Linford built a while ago. Now, we’ve lost all the clues we got earlier because of your stupidity! I have the hunch that Miles is the culprit behind all this chaos.”
“How dare he lie to us?” I’m gonna tell Lana about him. We can’t let Miles use her that way!” Marcos was about to leave the house. But Mrs. White stopped him, “Don’t be silly! Lana wouldn’t listen to you even if you told her the truth. You will only cause more trouble!”
“Then what should we do? Are we gonna just sit back and let Miles Johnson do whatever he wants?” Marcos was indignant.
Mrs. White’s face was grim, “You don’t need to do anything. Weston and Bradley will help us. Just remember… Don’t talk to Lana or mention our progress to her anymore. This is for Betty’s safety.”
Marcos and Yuri could only agree and follow Mrs. White’s order.
“It’s all my fault. I was so stupid. If anything happened to Betty, it would only be my fault.” Yuri looked worn out, and her eyes sunk horribly into her eye sockets. She hadn’t slept for days. And she had already lost her ability to think straight.
It broke Marcos’ heart to see his wife in a miserable state. If anything happened to Betty, it would ruin Yuri forever.
The air inside the White mansion was wrapped with desperation and horror. The Bradley House wasn’t any better at all.
“Is Miles Johnson gonna play something vicious again?” Drew looked grim
“What else is he capable of except being absolutely vicious?” Linford’s voice was filled with sarcasm.
“Walters has made it very clear that he has eliminated Johnson’s name off his business partner list. I bet Miles is definitely gonna do something to win the Walters’ trust,” Drew commented, a clear disgust evident in his words.
“I don’t know what he’s gonna do next. But taking the 10% stocks from the White House definitely can’t wait,” Linford analyzed Miles’ plan.
Betty must be in grave danger at this moment.” Drew stood up from his seat.
“I know. We can only pray that your grandpa’s men could lock their eyes on the suspect sooner. I don’t care if they could get any evidence or not. I just hope the little girl is still safe.” Linford was concerned.
He is still a great person and a loving father, after all.
Drew felt his best friend’s empathy towards Betty, “Of course. The little girl’s safety is more important. They’ve started another rescue plan. I believe Betty will be saved soon.”
“Miles won’t do anything ridiculous, will he?” Drew sounds worried.
Linford was pretty calm, “I don’t think so. Mrs. White wants his great-granddaughter to be unharmed when she comes back. Besides, analyzing Miles’ perspective, he definitely thinks girls are not that important to big families. Cutting off a finger or leg wouldn’t affect Mrs. White much to the extent that she lost her sanity and agreed to all his requirements.”
Drew frowned, “But I feel that Betty is Mrs. White’s favorite. I always have a feeling that the old lady only likes girls. She doesn’t seem to put much value on boys.”
“Even if it is a fact, Miles Johnson would never think that way. Just think about his clan. His family is toxic, as they only value boys as their successors. They think having a boy is a blessing while having a girl is useless. Moreover, Alfred has investigated the truth of Miles’ birth. Here, take a look, and you will see how sick Miles’ family was.” Linford handed Drew a folder.
