Maria happened to walk down the corridor at that moment. She stopped as she saw Diego, “Where’s Pamela? I just saw her, and she seemed quite upset. Did you see her?”
“She’s still in her room. She’s blaming me for not taking her to the wedding. Would you mind talking to her a bit?” Diego pulled at his face.
Maria sighed and went to her daughter’s room.
However, when the door was open, Maria screamed as she noticed that Pamela was lying on the floor.
“Pamela? Baby? Are you alright? What happened?”
Pamela was pale, “Mom… I think the water just broke. I’m gonna give birth to the baby soon. Where’s Diego?”
Maria screamed, “Somebody! Help! Help!”
Pamela was sent to the hospital about 20 minutes later.
Noah showed up in the hospital soon. He looked extremely exhausted and mad, “What happened? What is this?”
Maria cast a blaming look at Diego, but she didn’t say anything.
Diego was also blaming himself for this, “I didn’t take Pamela to the wedding, and she went mad at me. So…”
Noah bellowed, “Are you serious? She’s pregnant! Can’t you just stop making her suffer? Are you trying to kill your baby and your wife?”
Diego explained, “I just didn’t want her to think too much. I don’t want to fight her. It’s pretty meaningless.”
“Meaningless? She wouldn’t be so suspicious if you were not hiding things from her!” Noah hissed.
Diego’s face fell. He wanted to yell at Noah, but he contained his anger in the end.
About two hours later, a baby’s cry broke the silence of the hospital.
Everyone seemed to let out a breath finally. Maria was the first one who burst in,
“Pamela, baby… Are you okay?”
A film of sweat covered Pamela’s face. She looked extremely pale, “I… I’m okay. Where’s Diego?”
Diego only walked in at the moment.
Pamela smiled at him weakly, “Look, Diego. It’s our baby. It’s a son.”
Diego’s bad mood evaporated when he saw the baby’s little face. Pamela held onto his hand, “It was my fault, Diego. I won’t bring her up anymore. From now on, let’s live a happy life together. Just for the sake of our baby.”
Diego smiled as he held her hand back, “Okay.”

Meanwhile, Linford was about to leave his company after work. The moment he walked out of the doors of his company, however, his face fell as he saw a face he didn’t want to see.
“Linford, we didn’t have a chance to talk last time,” Miles smiled, “I think we should talk.”
Linford walked away, “I don’t think so.”
Miles chuckled, “You don’t need to run away so quickly, Linford. You don’t even know what I’m about to tell you yet.”
Linford didn’t even stop walking, “I don’t care what you want to tell me. I’m not interested.”
Miles’s voice was low, “Even if it is about Clyde’s death?”
“Nope,” Linford held the door of his car open.
“What if I tell you that the Friesley family was also involved?” Miles sounded a bit threatening.
Linford finally stopped in his tracks, “Interesting. Continue.”
About 30 minutes later, Linford and Miles sat in a nearby café.
“So, why is the Friesley family involved again?” Linford took off his coat.
Miles smiled, “Clyde had an accident during his mission, right? You do know what the mission was, don’t you?”
Linford nodded quietly. After years of investigation, he finally learned that Clyde’s mission involved a local drug syndicate. He was shot down when he tried to catch the notorious drug lord.
Miles cleared his throat, “In fact, the first half of the mission was quite successful. But Isaac Friesley, Cristelle’s father, was bribed to give up the rescue. That’s why your brother died. He could have lived if he had backups.”
Linford looked at the man before him calmly. He didn’t even have many expressions on his face.
Miles took a sip from his coffee, clearing his throat afterward, “Like it or not. Isaac was the one who killed your brother indirectly. Are you really gonna stand up against the whole world for that man’s daughter?”
Linford’s eyebrows jumped a tick, his eyes filled with sarcasm, “After I fell in love, you’re telling me that the woman I love is my arch-enemy? This is full of dog shit. You know I will never believe it. Even if I do end up believing it, I won’t care.”
Linford huffed, “Besides, you just said ‘the whole world’? How many families have you got on your side? You started to find your allies so soon, huh? You want a war, don’t you, Johnson?”
Miles’s impeccable smile finally cracked a bit, “It seems like you’re quite well-prepared yourself, Mr. Bradley. Well then, if so, let’s just wait and see. But… I need to remind you. This is your last chance to think things deeper.”
“I don’t need any chance from you, Miles. Do your worst, and let’s see what happens. If you haven’t had your worst nightmare, threatening a Bradley member would be the start of that horrible nightmare,” Linford stood up from his chair and grabbed his coat before marching out of the café.
When he got in his car, however, his face fell, and hands wrapping the steering wheel tightened. He let out a long breath. He had never known the history between his brother and Cristelle’s father until now.
When Linford went back home, Cristelle had got the dinner ready. Candace was watching cartoons. Linford tried to persuade himself repeatedly that Clyde’s death had nothing to do with his babies and his wife.
“You came back late today. Did anything happen in your company?” Cristelle casually asked as she put his coat on a coat rack.
Linford shook his head, “No big deal. Where’s the boy?”
Cristelle smiled, “He’s upstairs. Do you mind telling him it’s time for dinner?”
Linford nodded and walked upstairs.
The study room was empty. In the end, Linford checked around and found the boy in the secret room. The boy was saying something softly to Clyde’s photo.
Linford walked in directly, patting Cody’s head gently, “What did you say to your Uncle Clyde?”
Cody pulled a face, “I begged Uncle Clyde not to let you two have more babies.”
