The wedding dress?
Lana was so excited when she heard that. She batted her lashes as she looked at Linford’s face.
Linford dipped his chin slightly, “Okay.”
Okay!
He just said okay. The roomful of people all looked surprised. They didn’t expect Linford to agree on this matter truly.
“Linford, are you serious about this?” Lana sounded eager.
Linford didn’t have many expressions on his face, “Yeah, but I need to get divorced first before marrying you. Or it will be an illegal marriage between us.”
Get divorced?
“You and Cristelle got married?”
“We secretly did,” Linford sounded sincere.
The room fell silent again.
“Why don’t you get divorced tomorrow and go pick up Lana’s wedding dress the day after?” Pop suggested.
Lana didn’t want to wait, “No! It’s okay. We can do that on the same day!”
Pop cast a disgusting look on the young girl. Mr. Weston shook his head. Mrs. White was so embarrassed by her granddaughter, “What the heck will that be like, Lana? Of course, Linford needs at least a whole day to finish the business. You can’t even wait for another day?”
Lana sounded like she was ready to throw herself at Linford all the time. It was both needy and humiliating.
“Okay, I’ll get divorced first tomorrow,” Linford promised.
“What about the date of the wedding? We also need to get the list of guests right,” Mrs. White queried.
“Of course. Which day do you guys prefer?” Pop calmly asked.
Linford didn’t say anything. Mr. Weston suggested, “There are only a couple of days before November. I don’t think the month is good. It’s too stiff for preparation. I’m thinking about it before Christmas. What do you guys think?”
Pop seemed to have no problem with that. Mrs. White also nodded, “Then, I’ll send invitations when I return with Lana. You guys just make sure that we wouldn’t miss out on the date. Or it will get really awkward.”
Lana cast Linford a sorrowful glance. Tomorrow sounded nice to her. So why did Linford have to wait two months?
Mrs. White could tell what she was thinking, feeling secretly embarrassed by this needy granddaughter of hers.
“Well, since we’ve got every problem settled, it’s time for us to leave,” Mrs. White grabbed Lana’s wrist and took her out of the parlor.
Lana didn’t want to leave, struggling, “Granny, can I stay? Linford must want to take Cristelle’s stuff out of his place. I want to help him.”
“He doesn’t need you to be here. Just stop being so embarrassing, Lana. Let’s go,” Mrs. White didn’t allow her to stay.
After the grandma and the granddaughter left, Drew walked forth, “I heard you’ve seen Cristelle?”
Linford didn’t want to deny the truth, “Yep. She’s in my house this time.”
“Then why did you say yes to those requirements?” Drew frowned.
Linford turned to look at Pop and Mr. Weston. Now that they’d got what they wanted, it was his turn to list his requirements.
“I’ll do whatever you want me to do, including marrying Lana and raising the baby. But you also need to ensure that Cristelle will stay safely in my place. Don’t ever try to send her abroad, or this agreement will be destroyed.”
Pop sighed, “Do you even know how difficult things will be after you make this decision? You’re marrying another woman before her face, Linford. What would Cristelle stand if she heard it? Do you really want to make her suffer, Linford?”
Staying in his place was always better than going to another country. Linford would rather get hate from Cristelle than completely lose her traces.
The news that Linford was gonna marry another woman soon traveled to the babies’ ears.
Candace was crying all the time. She still remembered the day when Dad proposed to their Mom. She didn’t expect their Dad to marry another woman so soon. She felt extremely sad and betrayed. Cody’s little fists balled up.
That man was a massive liar! Claire was also quite devastated. If Linford decided to give up on Cristelle, she would be in grave danger.
Where was Cristelle at this moment? Claire felt bad for the babies. They would have a vicious stepmother soon.
“Cody, Candace, come on. It’s time to eat.” Claire brought the babies their favorite food.
Candace curled up on the couch, her whole little body trembling from crying. “No.”
“Come on, sweetie. You have to eat.” Claire felt her heart had been broken into pieces.
“I don’t wanna eat. Dad is gonna marry that woman. He doesn’t want Mom or us anymore.” Candace sniffed.
“But you have to eat. Your Mom will feel sad if she comes back and sees how weak you are from starving yourself.”
Candace sniffed as she sat up, “Will she ever come back, Selena?”
“Of course she will, honey. She will come back for you two. You two are everything to her,” Claire sounded certain, “You both are her hope. No matter where she is right now, she will be back as soon as she can for you. Let’s eat first. Okay?”
After spending these days with Claire, the babies started to trust her entirely.
Candace nodded, “I will eat. Or Mommy will get worried.”
Claire breathed out and smiled. She turned to look at Cody. Cody turned to look at her, and his eyes were blank.
Claire cleared her throat, “Cody, do you want to eat? I brought your favorites.”
“It’s okay,” The boy cut her off, “You don’t need to talk me into having my food. Just give the plate to me.”
The boy seemed to be determined to jam as much food into his stomach as he could.
Candace also followed her brother. She always followed her brother’s actions.
Claire looked at the babies silently. The boy was more mature than she thought. She even started to wonder if he had predicted the result. A couple of minutes later, Jack suddenly walked in, “Cody, Candace, Pop sent me to ask you guys if you want to join him for lunch.”
Cody turned away, “It’s okay. We’ve had our food.”
“Then, do you want to see Pop so you guys can finally have a conversation? He really wants to discuss important things.” Jack politely coaxed the twins.
Cody shook his head, “I don’t think so. Pop’s a busy man. I won’t interrupt him. Please leave us, Jack.”
“But…” Jack stuttered, “But Pop really wants to see you. Are you sure you don’t wanna go?”
