While they were still arguing, a nurse suddenly appeared in the middle of the corridor. She snuck into the lab without being seen. It only took her about 30 seconds to finish her mission. No one even noticed when she walked out of the lab.
“What happened to Jack and Drew?”
Candace looked at Claire, “Are they fighting?”
Claire cast a look in their direction, “It’s okay, sweetheart. They will be good soon.”
Candace nodded quietly.
Claire brought her to her office to have some snacks. Cody happened to walk out of the bathroom at that moment. The boy noticed that Drew and Jack were arguing over something. He stood behind the corner and heard the conversation.
“What if anything happens to her right now? She’s Cristelle’s sister! Cristelle will hate you for the rest of her life if she finds out you and Linford put her sister in danger!” Jack frowned.
“Jack, I know this is my hospital, but are you sure you want to discuss this issue so openly? What if someone hears this?”
“You!” Jack was so pissed off that he didn’t know what to say anymore. The old assistant thus turned on his heels and walked away.
Cody couldn’t close his mouth after hearing what they had just said. So that Selena was actually Mom’s sister? She must be his aunt, then.
No wonder that woman looked like their Mom so much.
“Cody! Cody!” Candace ran over at this moment when Cody was in a daze. She gave Cody a big hug.
Cody didn’t want Candace to be worried, so he smiled as he patted his little sister’s head. He felt complicated right now, but he knew he still needed to pretend that everything was fine.
“Why are you here, Candace?” Cody asked.
Candace smiled, “Jack brought me here.
He said Pop would be here soon. I…”
Before Candace could finish the sentence, Pop, Mr. Weston, Mrs. White, and Lana just showed up in the hospital.
Claire instantly walked into the lab after she noticed who was coming.
Candace and Cody ran forth and gave Pop a hug. The smirk on Mrs. White’s lips was sarcastic, “Why are you bringing the babies here?”
Pop smiled kindly, “They’re just kids. They don’t know anything. Don’t get nervous, Ann.”
“You’re saying I’m nervous? You should be the one who gets nervous,” Mrs. White huffed, “You should let the babies stay away from this. Or it might break their hearts.”
Pop frowned and cast a glance at Jack.
Jack crouched down and picked the babies up, “Let’s go outside and play.”
The adults would have a discussion again. Candace had no problem with that. Jack thus brought the girl and her brother out of the hospital.
“How is it? Is the result out? Why don’t you tell us, Frank?” Mrs. White took her seat elegantly, her eyes filled with mockery, “I don’t want to hear any stupid excuses this time.”
Mr. Weston and Franco sat down as well. Franco nodded at Frank, “Please, doctor.”
Frank took out the report, opening the envelope before everyone, “The result just proved that the baby is 99% related to Linford.
It is Mr. Bradley’s child.”
It was?!
Drew sat up from his seat immediately. “You’ve got to be kidding me, Frank, there must be something wrong!”
Frank looked pretty calm, “A fact is a fact, Drew. You’ve been watching the whole procedure. Did you see any problem?”
Drew opened his mouth and then closed it.
Franco and Mr. Weston exchanged a disappointed look.
Mrs. White had that sarcastic smile on her face again, “I guess there’s nothing left to be discussed anymore? So, what are you gonna do? Are you gonna give my granddaughter what she deserves or just keep denying the fact? Well, we will wait for your response at home, Mr. Bradley. Lana, let’s go.”
Lana was trying hard to hide her smile. The only pity she had right now was that she didn’t manage to see Linford this time. But it didn’t matter. She would spend the rest of her life with the man she loved anyway.
Claire was so pissed off after hearing the result.
That man was a bastard! How could he do that to Cristelle?
Franco stood up from his chair, “Weston, let’s go.”
Mr. Weston stood up as well, “Guess we can only follow the plan now.”
Franco nodded, “Indeed.”
Drew panicked, “Whatever you’re gonna do, Pop, don’t do it. I’m sure Linford can explain this. I’m calling him right now.”
The two old men didn’t appear to be listening anymore. They turned around and walked away.
Those adults would never explain what had happened. Cody knew he must find out the truth by himself.
The boy snuck into the lab, noticing Selena was sitting there alone. She looked quite pissed off.
“What’s wrong, Selena? You don’t look very happy,” Cody asked as he approached her.
Claire turned to look at the boy, and her features softened instantly, “Nothing, sweetie. I’m just thinking about things.”
Cody sat beside her, “What are you thinking?”
“I’m thinking about my sister. I haven’t seen her for years,” Claire smiled sadly.
Cody thought for a while, “I know what it feels like when you miss someone. I also haven’t seen my Mommy for days.”
Claire was so sad as she heard that, “It’s okay. Your Mommy will be back soon.”
“But they told me that Mommy didn’t want my sister or me anymore. I miss her so much. Does Mommy really not want us anymore, Selena?” Cody pretended to be innocent.
Claire grabbed her little nephew’s hand, “Honey, listen. No one loves you and your sister more than your mother does, okay? She will definitely come back for you two. Don’t think too much.”
Cody frowned, “Why wouldn’t she come back and see us if she misses us? She’s not as good as Lana. At least Lana always comes to visit us.”
“Lana? Who is that?” Claire was confused.
Cody smiled innocently, “Lana White. That woman came over for the test result. She’s so much better than Mom.”
Lana White? Wasn’t that woman the….
Claire went pale. She didn’t even need to think too much, and she figured out those people’s plans. “Cody, you really shouldn’t trust that woman. She’s not a good person.”
Cody talked back deliberately, “No, she’s an amazing person.”
“Well, she’s clearly not!” Claire was so pissed off.
“What has she done wrong? I prefer her to be my Mom,” Cody dealt the last blow.
