Cristelle fell silent. And then, she asked, “They said… They said Lana’s pregnant with Linford’s child. It’s a lie, isn’t it?”
Mr. Weston’s hand faltered. And then, he shook his head grimly.
Cristelle felt her mouth dry as she asked again, “So… Everything I heard was true?”
“I don’t know where you heard about this, Cristelle,” Mr. Weston cast her a look, “But we can’t jump to the conclusion so soon. Linford has insisted on doing DNA tests for the baby in Lana’s belly twice. The DNA test proved that the baby was Linford’s. Linford didn’t believe it, so he asked Frank Watson to return to do that test for them again.”
So, Lana White was really pregnant. Cristelle’s heart sank horribly. She thought that girl was Clyde’s fiancé.
How could they?
When did that happen?
Cristelle tried to count the days. If she was found pregnant right now, that just proved that they did it the first night she came back from abroad.
Linford hadn’t acted weirdly at all.
Had he been hiding this from her all this time?
“Don’t get too worried, Cristelle. This problem will be solved in the end. Just don’t go out during this time. Okay? You won’t solve any problems even if you suddenly show up,” Mr. Weston tried to persuade Cristelle.
Cristelle didn’t have any appetite. If Frank was gonna come back from Africa, would Claire come back with him? Would she finally be able to see her sister by then?
“Actually, what happened to your father years ago had a lot of parties involved. Some people decided not to keep digging since they realized they would probably offend big figures. Your sister went missing as well. If the Bradley House gets involved this time, Linford might just end up like Clyde. You also don’t want anything bad to happen to him, do you?” Mr. Weston seemed to realize what Cristelle was thinking. So he decided to remind her.
Cristelle faltered and understood what the old man was talking about. The secret Claire had been hiding could shake the figure in the dark. That was why she had been wanted all this time. However, she had never expected Clyde’s death to have anything to do with her family’s fall.
Cristelle swallowed, “You mean… there’s a big figure involved in those things that happened to my family?”
“You really shouldn’t ask this, Cristelle,” Mr. Weston shook his head, “Just let it pass. It’s good for everyone.”

Three days later, Frank finally came back from aboard. He and Claire walked out of the airport, and they saw Linford immediately.
“You came here to pick me up yourself, Mr. Bradley?” Frank smiled.
Linford smiled and nodded back. Despite what happened to him, the look on his face was pretty composed. He didn’t seem to be panicking at all. Frank thus thought his mission this time wouldn’t be that difficult.
Frank and Claire got in Linford’s car, and they arrived at the hospital soon. They went to a private room. Lana and Drew had been waiting there for a while.
Lana smiled at Frank. Frank arched an eyebrow before turning toward Linford to ask, “Is this your wife? What do you want me to do?”
“No, she’s nobody to me. I want you to do a DNA test for the baby in her belly,” Linford answered calmly.
Lana went red. Linford didn’t even care how awkward things were for her when he said she was nobody to him.
Frank was a member of the Watson House, one of the big houses in the city, yet he went aboard a lot.
It was quite normal for him not to recognize that Lana was actually a daughter of a White family.
Claire cast Lana a look secretly.
So this woman was pregnant with Linford Bradley’s child.
Men were all liars. She felt bad for Cristelle and the lovely twins.
Frank took a pause before nodding, “Fine. Shall we begin now? Please follow me…. Miss.”
“White,” Lana smiled awkwardly.
“Oh.” Frank arched an eyebrow before turning on his heels.
Drew approached the moment the door shut, “Linford, don’t you think that assistant girl looks quite like Cristelle.”
Linford had a grim look on his face, “Don’t mention this to anyone.”
Drew suddenly realized something. He nodded, “I won’t.”
“I’ll hold a dinner for them in my house tonight. Why don’t you come along?” Linford suggested.
Drew frowned, “I can notice the similarities between their features. I bet Lana will also notice something. Aren’t you afraid that -”
“It doesn’t matter. I have no plan to keep Cristelle’s real identity in the dark after this trouble anyway.” Linford looked quite calm.
“You don’t seem to be worrying about Cristelle’s hideout as well,” Drew asked, “Do you get any information about her location now?”
Linford shook his head, “Not yet. But hearing nothing was the best information. Pop must have hidden her somewhere very safe. He promised.”
Franco is a trusted one.
“Oh,” Drew somehow let out a breath as well, feeling relieved.
Lana walked out of the room a couple of minutes later, “Linford, I…”
“You should go back now, Lana. I’ll inform you once the result is out,” Linford motioned expressionlessly.
Lana cast a look at Drew. Drew didn’t even bother to make eye contact with her. She turned away defeatedly and walked the corridor.
A couple of minutes later, Frank and his assistant also walked out of the room.
“I’ve taken the sample. The result will be out in days. But tests like this don’t have many technical difficulties. Which means it seldom makes any mistakes. The result will be the same if you’ve tried multiple times.”
Linford’s face fell a bit, “It’s okay. You guys probably need to get some rest now. You should go to my place.”
Frank shrugged, “Sounds okay if it’s convenient with you.”
Linford turned to Drew, “I’ll pick up the babies after they come back from school. Would you mind going back first and getting the dinner ready, Drew?”
“Sure,” Drew went to start the car.
Claire’s eyes lit up shortly after hearing Linford mention the babies.
Cody and Candace got in the car 30 minutes later. Candace was curious, “Did Mom come back?”
“Not yet, sweetie. But she will be back soon. I promise,” Linford answered.
Cody got a bit anxious as he stared into the distance. There was nothing he could help with if he just stayed in school all day, every day. He must come up with a plan now.
