When Drew pushed the door open, Linford sat up instantly, thinking it was probably Cristelle. However, he was quite disappointed as he saw Drew’s face, “How’s Cristelle right now?”
Drew rolled his eyes, “You know what you did, Linford. You didn’t even tell Cristelle anything. I bet she won’t be that happy about this.”
“She’s mad?” Linford’s mouth fell open.
“She’s mad at both of you and Cody,” Drew looked around the room, “Where’s the little one?”
Cody only walked into the room right now, looking a bit clueless, “Doc? You just said Mom’s angry at both of us?”
“Yeah,” Drew sighed, “And you two didn’t even realize this? You both are the most important people to her in the whole world, yet you both did something so dangerous without telling her. I won’t blame Cristelle. Because I would also be quite pissed off if I were her.”
Shoot…
Linford and Cody exchanged a look. Cristelle seldom got made. But when she did, no one could make her happy again quickly.
Drew looked back and forth and saw that similar look on the two similar faces. He laughed, “You both are in big trouble.”
With that, the doctor just left the room.
Linford and Cody were thus the only ones left in the room. The silence lasted for a minute before Linford asked, “Did you call your Mom?”
Cody shook his head, “Nope. Did you?”
Linford nodded, “I called. But she didn’t pick up her phone.”
Cody sighed and took out his little phone, dialing Cristelle’s number and pressing it in his ear.
No one picked up.
It seemed like she was truly pissed off this time.
“It’s… It’s quite late now,” Cody cleared his throat, refusing to face the fact, “That’s why she didn’t pick up the phone.”
Linford was a bit worried, “Probably,”
Cristelle couldn’t fall asleep. She knew it must be a part of their plan. She just didn’t expect them to hide everything from her.
Why couldn’t they discuss their plan with her beforehand?
If they didn’t want to discuss it with her, they could at least inform her.
Cristelle held Candace tightly. Candace was drugged slightly, yet the dose was not that big. She hadn’t woken up. She just slept all the time. The doctor said she would be fine the next day.
Cristelle felt complicated. She didn’t know Jasper hated her so deeply. She also didn’t expect him to be the kidnapper three years ago.
Jasper used to treat her and the babies really well. And he had helped her before.
Jasper was dead. He got shot in the head after he tried to shoot Cody. Cristelle didn’t know how to feel about it. She wished she could have seen through Jasper a long time ago. Such things like this wouldn’t happen in the first place.
But she knew she would never be able to change anything.
Cristelle got off her bed and stood on the balcony all night.
The next day was Monday. Candace didn’t go to school because Cody didn’t come back. The main reason behind it was that she got up late and knew she was going to be late anyway.
Getting late was too humiliating. Candace thus avoided going to school.
“Where are Cody and Dad?” Candace asked as she spooned her cereal.
Cristelle smiled, “They went out to play.”
“Where did they go? Why didn’t they bring me with them?” Candace was mildly upset.
Cristelle pretended to be upset as well. “They are bad people for not telling us where they went. Let’s ignore them when they come back, okay?”
“Yeah! They deserve it,” Candace nodded obediently.
Franco happened to walk out of his room at this time. The old man still didn’t know what had just happened. He looked around and only saw Candace and Cristelle, “Where is Cody?”
Franco went to bed pretty early last night. He missed a lot.
Cristelle didn’t say anything. Candace complained with a hushed voice, “They… They went out to play, and they didn’t bring me with them.”
“That’s terrible. How could they ever do that?” Pop shook his head.
Candace added, “Mommy said she would teach me how to play piano later. And we will watch cartoons and play puzzles.”
“That sounds nice. Can I join you guys later?” Pop was thrilled.
Candace instantly nodded.
Cristelle was still silent. She didn’t look like she was in a good mood.
Franco pulled Jack into his room later, “What happened to Cristelle? She seems quite deflated. And why is Linford not home? Where did he bring his son?”
Jack sighed, “Mr. Bradley can tell you the truth, but you must swear that you won’t get mad. Your heart won’t be able to handle it.”
Ten minutes later…
CLASH!
A porcelain vase was thrown to the ground.
“Bastard! What a bastard! Cody is his son! But he threw the boy in hell! Cody almost didn’t come back from that island! Does he have a heart at all?!” Franco went furious the minute after Jack explained the whole thing. Cody was his great-grandson. The boy would inherit Bradley’s wealth and business when he grew up.
How could Linford put him through such danger?
Jack knew Franco only said this because he was mad. He didn’t mean that, and he would calm down when he was less mad.
The old assistant cleaned the shattered porcelain up as he smiled at Franco, “Don’t be mad, Mr. Bradley. Linford is also your own. You can’t be mean to him.”
“Now you’re saying that! You knew this a long time ago. Why didn’t you tell me in the first place? How could you just let them do those stupid things as they wanted?” Franco was so mad that he even started to blame Jack now.
Jack went to massage his shoulders for him, smiling, “Enzo was also there. I knew Linford and Cody would be fine. I didn’t want to bring this up since it was unnecessary.”
“Enzo was also there?!” Franco just became even more pissed off, “Good! Good for these stubborn grandsons! They thought I was old and they could do whatever they wanted under my nose! That’s very respectful of them, huh?!”
Jack didn’t seem to be bothered by the old man’s bad temper, “Sir, you really need to calm down. Enzo and Linford did this for Cody’s sake. After this incident, Cody will definitely change a lot. He might just fix his relationship with his dad sooner.”
