Meanwhile, Jasper was also staring at the screen with a cold smirk on his lips. If he couldn’t get Cristelle, Linford Bradley wouldn’t get her either. One day, Cristelle’s real identity would be exposed. Would the Bradley family still accept her after finding out about her past?
Jasper was thrilled thinking about the possibility.
Linford and Cristelle drove home after a long day of work. When they went back, Candace was sitting on the couch, still using her scissors and needles to make new dresses for her dolls.
She couldn’t make any dresses at school after the incident. But both Amy and Debby wanted to see her work. She could only make them at home and then bring the finished product to school.
Cody was helping his sister. Linford couldn’t stop smiling as he looked at their babies. One of them was smart and calm. The other was as sweet as an angel. He was so lucky to have them.
Cristelle walked out of the kitchen at this moment, holding a tray of fruit. She noticed Linford was standing there as if he was thinking about something. She went forward and nudged him, “What are you gawking at?”
The babies looked up as they heard their Mommy’s voice.
“Dad,” Candace smiled sweetly. Linford went forward and slumped onto the couch. He wanted to pull Candace in, but Candace wriggled away, “I… I’m busy.” She was seriously making clothes for her dolls. She didn’t want to be interrupted.
Linford felt a bit upset, “You don’t want to play with me anymore, do you?”
Candace didn’t even bother to look up, “I’m working. I… I can’t be distracted, or I will get hurt like Debby.”
After the little incident in school, Candace had been extra careful when she needed to use scissors and needles.
It broke Cristelle’s heart to see Candace being so careful. She was such an angel, but those journalists painted her as a little evil bully.
She wished Linford could solve the issue as soon as possible. Linford had never mentioned his plan to Cristelle. But Cristelle trusted him.
When Linford and Cristelle took the babies to their school the next day, the news about the incident had been everywhere on the internet. Of course, no one dared to mention their real names. Those press people thus tried everything they could to imply that the long-lost granddaughter of the Bradley House had something to do with it.
Cristelle was enraged that she decided to stop reading any news online.
Cristelle and Linford brought Candace to her new dance teacher during the weekend. From now on, the little girl didn’t need to have her dance lessons alone. She would learn how to dance together with other kids about her age.
The new dance teacher was called Rebecca Yeats. She was an A-class dancer as well. Rebecca was a bit older than Cindy, and she had a serious face. She seldom smiled. But Cristelle knew she could trust this woman.
Candace brought a gift for Rebecca. It was a new pair of ballet shoes, “Miss Yeats, it’s good to see you. I brought you a gift. I hope you will like it.”
“Wow, thank you,” Rebecca crouched down before the small figure. She liked small children the best, “Do you like dancing, Candace?”
Candace nodded, “I love it.”
“Well, it will be a bit exhausting if you decide to undergo training in my place. You need to prepare yourself for that, okay?” Rebecca smiled.
Candace nodded heavily, “I’m not afraid of being exhausted. I’m ready.”
Rebecca smiled as she stood up, “Candace seemed to love dancing genuinely. Just leave her to me. I’ll take care of her and train her when you’re away, Miss Friesley.”
Cristelle noticed she didn’t appear to be flattering at all. She was treating Candace and the other kids equally. Cristelle felt more relaxed.
Some teachers could be biased after they learned that Candace was Bradley’s daughter. It was not good for Candace at all. And if the teacher was too biased, other kids might become jealous of Candace.
Linford stayed for a while with Cristelle. They both watched Candace dance. And then, Linford told Cristelle that he had to return to his company.
Cristelle nodded and hugged him.
Linford wanted to peck Cristelle’s cheek, but Cody was still around.
The boy looked at him as if he was some predator.
That gaze made Linford a bit uncomfortable. However, he didn’t say anything as he turned around and left the dance studio.
Cristelle drove the babies home after the dance class. However, the babies both fell asleep in the car before they could make it home. When Cristelle tried to carry Candace out, Linford happened to come back.
“They both fell asleep?” Linford asked with a gentle voice.
Cristelle nodded. She wanted to carry Cody, but Linford went forth before she could, “I’ll carry the boy.”
Before Linford could hold Cody in his arms, however, the boy’s eyes suddenly snapped open, “What are you doing?”
Linford faltered, “I’m trying to fetch your Mom’s purse.”
There was still a gap between the father and the son. Linford was a bit embarrassed as he leaned across the seat and grabbed Cristelle’s purse.
Cody jumped off the car after Linford pulled away.
Linford caught up with Cristelle and held Candace in his arms, “Let me carry Candace.”
The family of four went into the elevator, talking and laughing.
Candace was having a really sound sleep. She didn’t even wake up when it was time for dinner. Cristelle was quite worried, “I think I should wake Candace up. She would be starving if she didn’t get up and eat dinner later.”
After Cristelle went upstairs, Linford and Cody just sat there awkwardly, both avoiding talking to each other.
Linford took in a deep breath and spoke first, “Are you sleepy now?”
“Nope,” Cody was holding the remote control loosely, “How are you gonna deal with the news on the internet?”
Linford frowned slightly as he turned to look at his son, “I’ll handle that. You don’t need to worry about it.”
“Oh, really,” Cody didn’t sound like he believed Linford.
If Linford could make those people shut up, he would have done that a long time ago. But the boy didn’t say more.
