They had a beautiful lunch on top of the building. Cristelle liked the meal very much. It seemed like Linford had already figured out the things she liked and hated. When did he find it out?
Cristelle was taking sips from her glass as she wondered.
A message burped in her phone. Cristelle held the phone up. It was a voice message from Fritzi, asking her if she had finished her lunch.
That project must be quite a headache. Or Fritzi wouldn’t have interrupted her lunch with the boss.
Cristelle sighed as she sent a voice message back, “I’ll be there soon.”
Linford frowned, “Fritzi asked you to go back?”
“Yeah,” Cristelle put the phone down and finished her plate before standing up.
Linford stood up as well, “Wait! Cristelle, no hurry. Just stay here for a while. I thought I gave her extra time for her to do that project. Why’s she still urging you?”
He pulled at her hand and led her to a swing, “Come on. Just take a break. You deserve a break after working for so long.”
Cristelle smiled as she saw that swing, “When did you build a swing here? I don’t remember this place having a swing before.” And then, she sat on the swing.
Linford smiled, pushing the swing with one hand leisurely, “I built it here a couple of days ago. Do you like it?”
Cristelle nodded, “It’s not bad at all. Candace will be thrilled if we can get one of these at home.”
“No problem. I’ll call someone to do it,” Linford smiled.
A message burped in Cristelle’s phone again. Cristelle checked the message out, and it was a picture from Candace. Her daughter made a new dress from her doll. And it looked quite decent.
“Linford! Look!” Cristelle showed Linford the picture excitedly. “Candace made this. Isn’t this beautiful? Candace will probably become a better designer than me when she grows up. Look at the style. Our daughter is talented, isn’t she?”
Linford smiled as he checked out the picture. He scrolled up the screen and noticed Candace had sent many messages to her Mom. Most of them were, “I miss you.” Some of them told Cristelle what desserts she wanted to eat when she returned home.
Linford arched an eyebrow, sounding sour, “She never sends me these.”
Cristelle sent a meme to Candace. It was a cartoon dog with her thumb up.
“She knows you’re busy. So she doesn’t want to interrupt you. Besides, do you even have a ChatApp? How will she send you these if you didn’t install one?”
Linford thought for a while, “Will Cody also send you things like this?”
Cristelle shrugged, “The boy’s pretty mature. He will only send things like “Today’s gonna rain.” It’s quite cold outside. Dress warmer.’ Something like that.”
Dress warmer?
Cody would never tell him to dress warmer. Linford’s body was burning with jealousy, but he refused to show it.
“Well… I think I just got enough rest for today. I need to go downstairs, or Fritzi will pull her hair out. See you at home,” Cristelle stretched.
Linford smiled as he stroked her hair a bit, “See you.”
****
Cristelle went downstairs and chatted with Fritzi for a bit before going back to work. Suddenly, her phone burped. She held up her phone, and it was a friend request on her ChatApp. The request was from Linford.
Cristelle rolled her eyes. Why did he suddenly install this app? She thought he hated chatting and thought apps like this would waste his precious time. She thought for a moment and accepted the request.
Linford Bradley could act like a boy sometimes. And it was pretty cute.
School is gonna be over soon. All the students could do whatever they liked before their parents came to pick them up.
Candace was still making dresses for her dolls. Right now, she was making a wedding dress for her Barbie. She knew the wedding dress would look amazing on her dolls.
Candace put the scissors and needles down as she heard the beep of her phone. She turned to look in her bag and tried to fish her phone out of it. Other kids went to her desk to check out the dresses she made. Candace’s desk was swarmed with kids.
Betty was pouting. She had also tried so hard to make dresses for her dolls last night. But she just couldn’t succeed. Candace Bradley was fat and clumsy. How could she manage to make those dresses and be popular among other kids?
Betty wanted to take a look. She was a spoiled kid, and everyone in her house treated her like a princess. She didn’t mind pushing people around when she needed to get near Candace’s desk, not to mention she was furious now. A girl lurched forward as Betty pushed her from behind.
The tips of the scissors happened to scratch her brow when she fell down. The poor girl started to bleed as she sprawled across the floor.
“No! She’s bleeding!” Another girl standing beside Candace’s desk started to cry.
The girl who got cut stood up. She started to cry as well when she realized that she was bleeding.
“It hurts.” The little girl sniffed as her tears rolled down her cheeks. A stream of blood fell into her left eye. She looked scary.
Betty ran away instantly as she realized that she was in trouble. Candace just figured out the friend request on her ChatApp was from her dad. She was about to accept the request when the shrilling cry of her classmates made her look in that direction.
She saw the little scissors and the small cut on the little girl’s brow. Candace panicked immediately, “Don’t cry. It’s okay.” Candace went to comfort the poor girl, “Miss Dunn! Miss Dunn!”
But the little girl didn’t stop crying. Amy was also startled. She went to pat the little girl’s back, “Don’t be scared. It’s just a small cut. You will be okay. Don’t be scared.”
But the little girl didn’t want to listen, and she wailed even louder.
The more people came to comfort her, the louder she cried.
Cody dashed over instantly. He went to Candace’s seat and grabbed her handkerchief before returning to the crying girl. He folded the handkerchief a couple of times before pressing it tightly against the little girl’s brow, “What’s your name? Oh, I know you. You’re Debby, right? Don’t cry. I’ll send you to the hospital, and you will be fine. Okay?”
